ハーバード大学ロー・スクール卒の弁護士の友人（英国生まれ、アメリカ育ちの白人）に、「Veteran British Intelligence Analyst」の意味を聞いたところ次のようなメールが来ましたので、御参考までに。

この英語自体、非常に曖昧な書き方をしているので２つの意味に取れるが、１番＝元英国諜報機関（または情報部）のベテラン・アナリストの意味の方が正しいだろうとの事です。

Thanks for writing to me. Your question is a
very good one, and I can easily see why she or he
would have trouble understanding and translating it.

The problem is that the term "veteran British
Intelligence Analyst" is ambiguous, and so can have
two different meanings/interpretations, and so can be
translated in two completely different ways. The
writer was a little careless, and should have used a
phrase which is clearer and avoids the ambiguity of
interpretation.

Anyway, the two choices are:

1) As you wrote, a person who formerly worked as an
analyst for the British Intelligence service, with
lots of experience. The word veteran implies both
"former" and "lots of experience." If I had to choose,
I think this is the more probable meaning, the one you
chose.

2) The other possible interpretation would be "someone
who has long experience analyzing how the British
Intelligence Service works". I don't know if people
exist who do this kind of thing, and if they do,
whether they would call themselves by such a title. So
my instinct tells me that this is the less likely
interpretation.

Choice number 1, the one you picked, appears the more
likely choice, but to be 100% sure, the translator
should ask the original writer what he meant.

Did a search of the worldreports.org site and it is run by a guy named Christopher E.H. Story who claims to be a former British intelligence analyst and occasional advisor to Margaret Thatcher. Affiliated websites are: sovietanalyst.com, globalanalysis.net, and edwardharle.com. Each site appears to be centered around the idea that the Soviet Union's collapse has been an Illuminati ruse and that this Story fellow is some sort of 'true christian' watchdog exposing this ruse.
