●コロンビア機空中分解の“左翼損傷”原因説を補強するような、かなり“決定的”な“証拠”がイスラエルから出現しました。
●これはシンガポールの主要日刊紙がフランスAFP通信からのニュースとして伝えたもので、イスラエルの主要紙『マアリヴ』が“シャトル内から写した写真に左翼の亀裂がはっきりと写り込んでいた”という写真つきの記事を載せたのでした。

●元の画像はシャロン首相とラモン乗務員とのテレビ会見中に動画として撮影されたもので、写真はそれをキャプチャーしたものだそうです。動画だってフェイクは作れるし、まして写真ならインチキ画像を簡単です。元の画像をライブで見たわけではないので、この写真についての真偽はいまのところ不明ですが、ここまではっきりと“翼の亀裂”の証拠が出てくると、知っていて隠していたNASAの責任や、着陸前の地上からの機体操作についての意図や責任が問題になってくると思うんですけど、いったいそういう方向に議論がすすむのでしょーか？（要注目ですね。）

02-03-03 One of the possibilities considered yesterday, the day after the tragic destruction of the space shuttle Columbia, was that one of the wings, on the left side, that was damaged during liftoff, caused the disaster. Did NASA experts make a mistake in evaluating how significant the damage was? Did they know the severity of the damage and just keep quiet about it? If they knew, why did they not inform the 7 astronauts that learned of it only minutes before the shuttle broke apart.

02-03-03 On the fifth day of his journey into space, Ilan Ramon spoke with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon through a video link. He presented the prime minister his view out of the windows of the Columbia shuttle and right there on the surface of the wing on the left side you could see a long crack and a dent. Eleven days after, it was that very same wing that broke off the shuttle and finally brought it to its destruction. Even if NASA knew about the damage from the moment it happened, they could have done nothing except pray.

According to Aharon Lapidot, a well respected aviation expert in Israel, the left wing theory is the most plausible explanation for the shuttle disaster.

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli daily Maariv on Monday published a picture of the Columbia space shuttle showing what looked like two cracks on its left wing.
【エルサレム発――イスラエルの日刊紙『マアリヴ』が月曜日（２月３日）に、左の翼に二ヵ所の亀裂のようなものが見えるスペースシャトル「コロンビア」の写真を掲載した。】
The picture was taken 11 days before the shuttle exploded on its way back to Earth on Saturday, killing all seven crew onboard.

The photograph was extracted from footage taken by a camera onboard the shuttle during a live satellite video conference between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Colonel Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli to travel to space.

During a 15-minute conversation with Mr Sharon and other Israeli officials, Mr Ramon offered to share his view of Earth from the shuttle.

Filming the blue planet, the video caught part of the shuttle's left wing, showing two 'long cracks', wrote the paper, which highlighted the alleged damage.

The fissures could have been the cause of the technical problems experienced by the shuttle which led to its explosion over Texas, 16 minutes before it was due to land last Saturday, the paper claimed.

Maariv wrote that 'even if NASA had discovered the cracks that appeared at take-off, it would not have been able to do anything' to save the crew.

NASA space shuttle programme director Ron Dittemore said on Sunday Columbia had seen a significant rise in temperature on the left side in the minutes leading up to its disintegration.

Mr Dittemore said the drag on the left increased and the onboard computer tried to correct it by bringing the shuttle to the right.

The NASA official said the drag could be 'indicative' of a missing heat tile or a rough tile on one of the wings.

The shuttle had 24,000 tiles that resist the intense heat that envelopes the shuttle as it hits the Earth's atmosphere.

Mr Dittemore emphasised that there was no firm theory as to the cause of the disaster, stressing the investigation was continuing.

Concern about small cracks found along the metal liners used to direct the fuel flow inside the main propulsion system had forced NASA to delay Columbia's launch, originally scheduled for July 16 last year. -- AFP
