●コースト空港の米軍基地へミサイル攻撃
コースト(特派員）：
月曜日の午後3時頃、身元不明の男たちが新旧両方のコースト空港をミサイルで激しく攻撃した。
地元の情報筋によると、旧コースト空港に一つのミサイルが着弾し、3発が「サハラ庭園」の名で知られる新空港に、他のミサイルが町の近くに落ちたということだ。
攻撃の直後、激しい炎と煙の暗雲が『サハラ庭園』から上がっているのが目撃されたとの報告があった。
古い空港の空の建物は完全に破壊された。
重傷者とかなりの数の死者がでた可能性は大きいと推測される。
特に、これは1週間のうちで5回目の「サハラ庭園」へのミサイル攻撃である。
地元民たちは、空港のここに位置する米軍のトレーニング・キャンプと米軍ヘリコプターの頻繁な到着が選び出されていると説明した。
●アメリカとパキスタンの亀裂
イスラマバード(モニタリング・デスク）：
米国とパキスタンの関係は、パキスタンの部族地域でのタリバンとアル・カーイダ・ムジャヒディンに対するアメリカの作戦の問題で緊張している。
「ヴォイス・オブ・ジャーマニー」も、ＣＩＡがこれを確認したと報じた。
米国は、パキスタン軍が米軍を帯同してワジリスタンに行くように要求している。
ワジリスタンで米軍はタリバンとアル・カーイダに対する新しい大規模な作戦を展開するつもりである。
しかしながら、パキスタンはアメリカのその圧力を受け入れる気がない。
アメリカ国防省の軍人の1人は、現在北ワジリスタン地区にタリバンおよびアル・カーイダの重要人物が潜伏しているが、この作戦にアメリカが期待しているサポートをパキスタンは提供していないと話した。
米国国防局は、最新のヘリコプターでパキスタンの歓心をかおうとしたにも拘らず、現在パキスタン軍の態度が変わってきていてテロリズムに対する行動にも変化が見られると話した。
パキスタン政府は、ワジリスタンでの作戦に協力することが、部族民のパキスタン軍への反乱を引き起こすことになるだろうと心配する。
前に、部族民はこのことで（パキスタン当局を）脅した。
特に最近の馬鹿馬鹿しい国民投票のことを考慮すれば、これはムシャラフ政権に不利に作用するだろう。
アフガニスタン・キャンペーンでアメリカとパキスタンの間に深刻な亀裂が出来たのはこれが初めてである。
Missile Attack upon US Base at Khost Airport

Khost(Special Correspondent) :
On Monday afternoon at approximately 1500 hours, unknown men launched fierce missile attacks targetting both of Khost's airports.
According to local sources, one of the missile hit Khost's older airport, another fell in close proximity to the city whilst three other missiles hit Khost's newly built airport (known as 'Sahara Garden'.)
It was reported that immediately after the attacks fierce blazes and dark clouds of smoke were seen rising from 'Sahara Garden.'
A vacated building at the older airport was completely destroyed.
It is speculated that there is extreme likelihood of serious injuries and significant loss of life.
Notably, this is the fifth missile attack on 'Sahara Gardens' in one week.
Locals explain the singling out of the airport upon the US Army's training camp being located here and frequent arrival of US Army helicopters.
Rift Opens Between Pakistan And US Administration Over Operation in Waziristan
Islamabad(Monitoring Desk) :
Relations between the US & Pakistan are being stressed over the issue of US operation against Taliban and Al-Qaida mujahideen in the tribal regions of Pakistan.
Voice of Germany also reported confirmation of this by the CIA.
The US wish that Pakistan Army should accompany the US troops in Waziristan, where they will start a fresh major operation against Taliban and Al-Qaida in these areas.
However, Pakistan is unwilling to submit to US pressure to do so.
One of the US Defence servicemen said that there is a significant Taliban and Al-Qaida men presence in the North Waziristan region, but Pakistan is not providing the expected support for this operation.
The US Defence Office said that the attitude of the Pakistan Army is now changing and a break is observed in its actions against terrorism, despite the US's attempt to bribe Pakistan with the latest helicopters.
The Pakistan government is worried that their cooperation in action in Waziristan may give rise to insurgency against the Pakistan Army by tribesmen.
This was previously threatened by the tribesmen.
This may detrimentally affect the Musharaf regime - especially in light of the recent farcical referendum vote.
Significantly, this is the first time during the Afghanistan campaign that serious rifts have occurred between the US and Pakistan.
