保守党が左傾化している？！
フランスにサッチャリズムの時代が到来とかいってタイムズが喜んでいたが、英保守党がサッチャリズムと決別するらしい。ガーディアン記事だがソースは保守党で、記事から明らかな範囲では「サッチャリズムとの決別」はガーディアンのこじつけの解釈でもない。
サッチャリズムとは：

The central debate at the next election will be about society, not economics, the head of the Conservatives' policy review said yesterday, hammering another nail in the coffin of the party's Thatcherite past.
Oliver Letwin went further than his leader, David Cameron, in disowning Margaret Thatcher's famous "no such thing as society" remark. He also acknowledged the Tories' programme for government would disappoint rightwingers who want a more explicit commitment to tax cuts.
"Politics, once econo-centric, must now become socio-centric," Mr Letwin said in a speech to the Policy Exchange thinktank in London. "Instead of being about economics, politics in a post-Marxist age is about the whole way we live our lives; it is about society."
Mr Cameron said last year: "There is such a thing as society, it's just not the same as the state." But Mr Letwin's remarks offer a more explicit rejection of Lady Thatcher's famous remark.

The Tories could move beyond Thatcherism because "the capitalist/socialist debate has in general ceased to dominate modern politics", Mr Letwin said. "From Beijing to Brussels, the free market has won the battle of economic ideas."

つまり、オリヴァー・レトウィンが、サッチャーの「社会などというものは存在いたしません。個人あるのみ、家族あるのみでございます」論を否定し、「経済中心ではなく社会中心の政治」をという話をし、保守党政府は減税減税とうるさい右翼をがっかりさせることになるだろう、と。もう全世界キャピタリズムなのですから、今さらサッチャリズムでもないでしょう、と。
キャメロンの「ソサイアティ」発言にも「おい、君は保守党だろう！」と思わされたが、レトウィンのこれには唖然とした。だってdisappoint rightwingersって、この人右翼じゃん。緊縮財政、小さな政府って感じの。なのに「私ども党執行部の考えは右翼をがっかりさせる」って、何だこれ。「私は右翼じゃありません」って？
econo-centric or socio-centricってのは英国の二大政党制の対立軸そのものだ。「ブレアの労働党」がますますecono-centricになって（ブラウンは「減税減税」なプランの人だし、この傾向は強まると思う）、「キャメロンの保守党」がsocio-centricになる？ んー、あやしい。絶対にあやしい。
とはいえ、「保守党がサッチャリズムと決別」というのはショッキングでキャッチーではある。労働党が「国有化政策とさよなら」というのと同じ効果をもつ。というか同じか。党是の否定。有権者びっくり。「自民党をぶっ壊す」みたいな話。
というわけで、この「ニュー保守党」も戦略のひとつであることは自明。ではほんとは何をするつもりなのかということについて、労働党からは：

ふーん、経済学の人で、ゴードン・ブラウンのスピーチライターを経験し、2005年に政界入りで、現在第三セクター担当の閣外大臣か。。。そりゃ保守党を見たらdisるのが仕事だ。ガーディアンに引用されている発言は、正直、コンテクストが少ないから理解できない。何が「国家の責任の放棄、レッセフェール」なのか。まったくわからない。
レトウィン発言が保守党の基本である「民間でできることは民間で」で、なおかつ「社会」が機能するように、という話だとしたら、それは極端な話「警察の民営化」につながってないか。で、それは「レッセフェール」ではない。それは・・・うーん、経済学の人の守備範囲ではないのかな。ていうか「旧態依然とした労働党の左翼」ならここでばしーっと言ってくれるはずなのに、というところでこれか、orzのポーズですよ、モニタの前で。econo-centricでもいいから、もうちょっとしゃきっとしたことが言えないのかなあ。なんで「わが党はスゴい」な話にしちゃうんだ。

このreligious hatredのときの議論は何となく覚えてる。法律で固めるのではなく、社会の目で対処しましょうってやつだ。何でもいいからとにかくこの法律の成立は阻止してくれという立場の人もいたと思う。（さすがにうろ覚え。BBCかガーディアンだとは思うが。）
うーむ。ガーディアンは、この人が口にするsocietyというものについて、もう少し慎重になったほうがいいよね。「ガーディアンが書いているから」というだけで釣られる人にはこの記事での提示は危ない。
というか「社会」の話を「経済の専門家」にコメントさせているだけでいいのか？ 何かこわいな。ガーディアンがそれで終わらせることはないと期待したい（CiFが熱くなりそうな話だし）。
レトウィンが語るゴードン・ブラウンの政策と保守党：

何度か読み返したが、やはりこの人のsocietyという語の使い方はトリッキーだ。ゴードン・ブラウンのvaluesと同じくらいトリッキーだ。
それでも、「労働党には裏切られた」感で憔悴しきっている左派には「サッチャリズムを捨てた保守党」は猛烈にアピールする。北風がやみ、３月末の桜が日本人にアピールするのと同じくらいにアピールする。危険だー。
この「劇場」、お膳立てと裏方仕事は「チーム・キャメロン」がやっていると思われる。ただ「サッチャリズムを超えて」ほどのものになると若手だけじゃできないだろう。現時点ではとりあえず出してみて様子見ってところだろうけれど（でもレトウィンに言わせるか。。。）、これから激しいキャンペーンが始まるのかもしれない。
