Iran Has Not Fallen Into U.S.-Taleban Trap
TEHRAN TIMES POLITICAL DESK
TEHRAN - Political observers throughout the world are aware of the fact that the U.S. has a certain goal behind its attacks on Afghanistan, which is strengthening of its military presence in the region.
Many have come to know that the U.S. and the Teleban are from the same camp. In fact the U.S., which originally created the Taleban, is now using the scenario of attacks against Afghanistan in order to reach far reaching objectives in the region. The role of the militia in the ongoing scenario is simply to serve further U.S. interests.
Iran has adopted a policy of active neutrality over the issue and it has not fallen in the U.S.-Taleban trap. The U.S. attack has not had the least effect on Taleban militia, but has only intensified the misery and impoverishment of the Afghan people.
There are some facts indicating the hidden links between Washington and the Taleban, including the report that Osama bin Laden has undergone treatment inJuly at the American hospital in Dubai.
According to the French daily *******Le Figaro ****** and Radio France International, Bin Laden, also has met a U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) official in the hospital.
Quoting "a witness, a professional partner of the administrative management of the hospital," they said the man suspected by the United States of being behind the September 11 terrorist attacks had arrived in Dubai on July 4 by air from Quitta, Pakistan.
He was immediately taken to the hospital for kidney treatment. He left the establishment on July 14, ******Le Figaro ******** said.
During his stay, the daily said, the local CIA representative was seen going into Bin Laden's room and "a few days later, the CIA man boasted to some friends of having visited the Saudi-born millionaire."
Quoting "an authoritative source," *****Le Figaro ******* and the radio station said the CIA representative had been recalled to Washington on July 15.
Bin Laden has been sought by the United States for terrorism since the bombing of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998. But his CIA links go back before that to the fight against Soviet forces in Afghanistan. In a natural move, the American hospital in Dubai denied the reports.
The U.S. also delivered some anti-Taleban figures to the militia, including Abdul Haq and former Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister, Hamid Karzai.
It is said that the U.S. has helped the Taleban hunt Karzai in hills of Uruzgan Province by giving necessary information to the militia.
The Taleban also captured 25 followers of Karzai after a clash in Deharwad in the province.
The group threatened to hang captured supporters of Karzai, a top aide to exiled Muhammad Zahir who is on an undercover mission in Afghanistan, on Friday.
Kkarzai followed another former resistance fighter in attempting a secret mission into Afghanistan to counter the Taleban. Abdul Haq, a former guerrilla commander, was caught and executed by the militia last week.
Karzai, 46, is believed to be on a similar mission to Abdul Haq, who the Taleban captured and executed with two associates.
Also, a report said on Friday that twelve hundred Pakistani went into Afghanistan on the day under the command of Malik Jan Mohammad. They left Bajaur around midday in 50 vehicles, they are armed.
