THIRD FATIMA SECRET TO BE PUBLISHED JUNE 26

The formal publication of the "thirdsecret" of Fatima, together with a commentary prepared by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will take place on June 26.
Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will present the new document to the media, along with the secretary of the Congregation, Archbishop Tarcisio Bertone.
The text will be published simultaneously in several different languages.
The 40-page document contains a reproduction of the manuscript written by Lucia dos Santos, one of the three children to whom the Virgin Mary appeared at Fatima in 1917. Lucia-- the sole survivor among the Fatima seers, who is now a Carmelite nun living in Coimbra, Portugal-- wrote down the message in 1944.
Until this year, only the first two parts of the message conveyed to the children by the Virgin had been made public. Those first two parts included a vision of Hell, a prediction of World War II, a call to prayer and repentance, and a warning that the Church would face persecutions which could only be overcome by the consecration of the world to Mary.
The "third secret" had been very closely guarded, until on May 13 of this year Cardinal Angelo Sodano announced-- at the explicit request of Pope John Paul II-- that the message would soon be made public in its entirety.
Cardinal Sodano made that announcement at Fatima,
were he accompanied the Pope to celebrate the canonization of the two deceased Fatima seers.
Cardinal Sodano said that the "third secret" concerned the "battle ofthe atheistic systems against the Church and against Christians.
Of the 28 lines of the message, 2 lines refer to a bishop "dressed in white" who is shot down while marching toward the Cross. That vision apparently refers to the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II in 1981, on May 13-- the feast of Our Lady of Fatima.
