●ブラック　ホーク　ダウン：アメリカ兵10名死亡、ヘリコプター6機と戦車1台が破壊される

カンダハル南方の空港基地を聖戦士が襲撃し、10人以上の米兵が死亡した。
攻撃は月曜日の朝に実行された。
米軍はカンダハルで広範囲な捜索を行ったが、攻撃者は発見出来ず、また、彼等の行方に関する手掛かりも全く見つけられなかった。
情報源は、攻撃された空港はカンダハル南方の砂漠地域に位置する、そこは人里から離れているのでアラブ人のシェイクがそれを造ったと話した。
アメリカ人は、その空港はどの都市からも離れているし、かなり良く保護され、そして聖戦士の（行動の）圏外にあると考えたのでここをも固定の基地にした。
唐突で獰猛な攻撃は米軍に凄まじいパニックと混沌を引き起こした。
米軍はいまだに、攻撃者が何処から現れたのか、攻撃後に何処へどうやって逃れたのかという問いに答を出すことが出来ない。
攻撃者の死体も全く見つからず、彼等は全員脱出したものと思われるが、一部の専門家は本格的な作戦に先だって自殺作戦があっただろうと話した。
この最初の攻撃は、混乱を起こすこと、本格的な攻撃が始まる直前にパニックを起こすことを目的とした陽動作戦だったはずだ。
厳重な空港のセキュリティと周辺部の守備態勢は、本格攻撃だけを単独で実行することを非常に難しくしたはずだ。
しかしながら、たとえ聖戦士の殉教や殉教作戦があったとしても、いまだにそれを確認した情報筋はない。
確かなことは、攻撃者の一部が首尾よく脱出出来たということである。
さもなければ、アメリカ人がそのように広範囲にわたる捜索活動を行う必要はない。
信頼できる筋は、攻撃ヘリコプター６機と戦車１台が破壊されたと報告してきた。
アメリカの犠牲者の正確な数は判っていないが、少なくとも10人の兵士がこの攻撃で死んだことが確認された。
空港基地に残っていた部隊は直ちにスピンボルダックへ移動させられた。
更に400人の兵員がAPCやタンクを含む100台近い車輌のコンボイで到着した。
そのような大規模な米部隊の到着は、最初はハイウェイの追い剥ぎに悩まされるトレーダーの安全を確保するためのものだと考えられた。
しかし、空港攻撃のニュースが明らかになった後では、アメリカ人は目に見える大規模な活動を実行することによって当惑を覆い隠そうとしていると広く信じられている。

●ガルデズで連合軍兵士8人が殺害され、11人が誘拐される

ガルデズ地方のシャイコト地区で遭遇戦があった。
情報筋からの報告は、タリバンとアル・カーイダの兵士がこの地域の掃討作戦を行っていた連合軍を山間部で待ち伏せたことを示唆する。
どこかほかの場所で、先の木曜日にタニルサワイで誘拐された４人の米兵の捜索活動が続いている。
連合軍は地元のモスクのイマーム　マウルビ・ヌール・ムハンマドを逮捕した。彼は誘拐に関する尋問を受けている。

More than ten US soldiers were killed during the Mujahideen operation, which took place at a remote airport base south of Kandahar.
The attack was carried out on Monday morning and although US troops conducted extensive search operations in Kandahar, no clues regarding the attackers or their whereabouts have been found.
Sources say that the airport that was attacked is located in a desert region south of Kandahar and was built there by Arab Sheikhs due to its remoteness.
The Americans too made this a permanent base because the airport is far from any city, and also because they believed it to be well protected and out of reach of the Mujahideen.
The suddenness and ferocity of the attack caused great panic and chaos among the US ranks.
The US military is still unable to answer from where the attackers emerged, and where and how they escaped after the attack.
Although no bodies of the attackers have been found, and all are believed to have escaped, some experts say that a suicide operation may have preceded the main operation.
This initial attack could have been diversionary tactic aimed at creating confusion and panic just before the main attack began.
The tight airport security and perimeter defence would have made it very difficult for only the single main attack to be carried out.
However, there is still no confirmation from any sources if any Mujahideen were martyred or whether there was any martyrdom operation at all.
What is certain is that some of the attackers managed to escape.
Otherwise there would not be any need for the Americans to carry out such extensive search operations.
Reliable sources report that six helicopter gunships and one battle tank were destroyed.
Although the exact number of US casualties is not known, it is confirmed that at least ten soldiers were killed in the attack.
The remaining troops from the airport base were immediately moved to Spin Boldak.
A further 400 troops in a convoy of nearly 100 vehicles including Armoured Personnel Carriers and tanks have also arrived there.
It was initially thought the arrival of US troops in such large numbers was to ensure the safety of traders harassed by highway robbers, but after the news of the airport attack was revealed, it is now widely believed that the Americans aim to cover up the embarrassment by carrying out a visible large scale operation.

8 Coalition Soldiers Killed, 11 Captured By Taliban And Al-Qaida

The encounter took place in the Shah-e-Kot region of the Gardez province.
Information from sources indicate that soldiers from the Taliban and Al-Qaida ambushed coalition troops in the mountains during a clean up operation of the area.
Elsewhere, a search operation is still in progress for four US commandos kidnapped from Tani-ul-Sawai last Thursday.
Coalition troops have arrested an Imam of a local mosque, Moulvi Noor Muhammad, and he is being interrogated regarding the kidnapping.
