●カンダハルのカジキ・ダムでゲリラ攻撃、アメリカ兵14人死亡

カンダハル（アッザーム）：
遭遇戦が起きたとき、米軍は地元民兵と共にヘルマンド地方のダムを警備をしていた。
ゲリラは夜半に、ロケットと軽武器を使って攻撃した。
あまりにも突然の攻撃に、米部隊は態勢を立て直して反撃にでることが出来ず、攻撃側は充分に任務を果たした後、全員安全に脱出することが出来た。
アフガニスタンのスポークスマンは、攻撃の間、アメリカ人たちは即刻の上空からの援護と救出を求めて文字通り無線に向かって叫んでいたと話した。
生き残った米兵たちは、後にヘルマンドの中心部にあるバサット・ホテルへ移された。
その攻撃で電気供給施設もまた損傷し、その結果、カンダハル、グリーシャクとヘルマンド地域への電気の供給が3日間ストップした。
給水および電話にも支障がでた。
別件になるが、カンダハル市の西のバグ・プル地区で2人の米軍人が重傷を負った。
身元不明のガンマンたちが警備任務についていた米軍のグループを銃撃したためにその怪我人がでた。
信頼できる筋によると、アフガニスタン軍司令官ザヒル・シャーの息子でカンダハル空港の司令官ムシュケザイが木曜日に暗殺された。彼の遺体は昨日チャマンに到着した。
双方の事件に関するこれ以上の詳細は今のところ判っていない。

14 US Soldiers Killed in Guerrilla Attack at Kajki Dam in Kandahar

Kandahar (Azzam):
The American troops were on guard duty of the dam in the Helmand province, along with local militia, when the encounter occurred.
The guerrillas used rockets and light weapons during the attack, which took place in the middle of the night.
The attack was so sudden that US troops did not get a chance to regroup and counter-attack and all attackers were able to safely escape after completing their mission.
An Afghan spokesman said that during the attack the Americans were literally shouting on the wireless for immediate air support and evacuation.
The remaining US soldiers were later shifted to the Basat Hotel located in central Helmand.
Electricity installations were also damaged during the attack and as a result, the electricity supply to Kandahar, Greeshak and Helmand regions was disrupted for three days.
Water and telephone supply were also affected.
In other news, two US servicemen were seriously injured in the Bagh Pul region west of Kandahar city.
The injuries occurred when unknown gunmen opened fire at a group of US troops who were on guard duty.
Reliable sources have reported that Afghan Warlord Zahir Shah's son and commander of Kandahar airport, Mushkezai, was assassinated on Thursday and his dead body reached Chaman yesterday.
No more details of both incidents are currently known.
