●ファーヒム将軍暗殺未遂
ジャララバード（イスラム通信員）：
月曜日の朝10時45分、ジャララバード中心部のカラシ・ロータリーで、アフガニスタンの暫定政権国防大臣ファーヒム将軍殺害を目的とした地雷攻撃が起きた。
この将軍の車列への攻撃で、ファーヒム将軍は無事だったが、8人が死亡し、85人の負傷者、ほとんど全員が危なかった。
この爆発による死者には、ジャララバードの連合軍司令官ハジ・ザーマンと米兵1人が含まれる。
犠牲者の大半は、車列とともに移動していた北部同盟と連合軍の兵士であった。
ファーヒム将軍はジャララバードのメイン・シティから約3キロ外れた所にある宿営地へ向かう途中だった。
そこで芥子栽培問題で地元農民に会うことになっていた。
彼の車列は10時30分にカブールから到着し、宿営地に行くために中心部を通行中だった。そのときにこの事件が起きた。
ナンガルハル高校ビルの近くの道端のカートに強力な地雷が隠されていた。
目撃者は少なくとも8人の人がその場で死に、、ファーヒム将軍の車のウインドウは爆発で吹き飛ばされたと報告した。
デイリー・イスラムが得た目撃情報によると、アメリカの軍人もまた車列と共に移動していた。
攻撃後、ファーヒム将軍は知らない場所に連れて行かれた。そして、負傷者はカブールとジャララバードの病院で治療を受けている。
この地方全域に夜間外出禁止令が課された。そして、攻撃者の捜索は進行中である。
国防大臣は、地元農民と会って芥子栽培禁止の交渉をするためにジャララバードに来た。
前に3度の交渉の試みがあったが、全ては失敗に終わった。
現在、暫定政権はポピーを栽培しない農民に１エーカーにつき250ドル（の補償金）を提示している。
しかしながら、１エーカーあたり100〜120キロのポピーが収穫できることから、農民は１エーカーにつき7000ドルを要求している。
●ムジャヒディンのトラップで米国7名死亡
ガルデズ（特別レポート/BBC）：
アフガニスタンのガルデズ近郊で、アフガン人と外国人ムジャヒディンが仕掛けたトラップで米兵7名が死亡した。
或るアフガニスタンの村人がパクティア行政区の米軍ポストに来て、
『負傷したアラブ・ムジャヒディンのグループがこれこれの村の泥小屋にいる』と、知らせた。
彼はアメリカ人に、『アラブ人を驚かせるために、静かに村に行かなければならない、ヘリコプターや大きな乗物も持ってくるな』と、話した。
アメリカ人たちは、アラブとパキスタンの2人のムジャヒディンが待伏せている『安全な』道を辿って村へ向かった。
援軍とヘリコプターが到着するまで他の者たちが持ちこたえた一方、脱出することが出来ずに7人の米兵がその場で死亡した。
ムジャヒディンは、安全に山間部に撤退できた。
残念なことに、彼等はアメリカ人の死体を少しも持ち帰ることが出来なかったが、アフガニスタンにいる西側兵士の死体に懸けられている5万ドルの報奨金を請求している。
BBCは、そのような攻撃が起きたことは認めたが、米兵の死者は1名だけで、残りは負傷者だと言った。
この攻撃と同時に、カブールで英国の軍人がムジャヒディン狙撃者に頭を撃たれた。
彼はその場で死んだ。

JALALABAD (Islam Correspondent):
The landmine attack aimed at killing the Afghan interim government Defence Minister, General Faheem, took place at the Qalashi roundabout, which is in the centre of Jalalabad at 10.45am on Monday morning.
General Faheem survived the attack on his convoy, but eight men were killed and eighty five were injured, most of them critically.
Haji Zaman, the Commander of Alliance forces in Jalalabad, and an American soldier were among those who died in the blast.
The majority of casualties were soldiers from the Northern Alliance and Coalition personnel travelling with the convoy.
General Faheem was on his way to meet local farmers on drug cultivation issues in the Jalalabad cantonment, which is 3km outside the main city.
He had arrived in a convoy from Kabul at 10.30 a.m. and was passing through the city centre, in order to reach the cantonment, when the incident occurred.
The powerful landmine was hidden in a cart by the roadside, near the Nangarhar High School Building.
Eyewitnesses reported that at least eight men died on the spot and Faheem's car windows were blown out by the explosion.
The witness accounts given to Daily Islam indicate that U.S. servicemen were also seen travelling with the convoy.
After the attack, General Faheem was rushed to an unknown location and the injured are being treated at the Kabul and Jalalabad hospitals.
A curfew has been imposed across the whole province and searches are underway to find the attackers.
The Defence Minister had come to Jalalabad to meet local farmers and negotiate a deal to stop drug cultivation in the area.
Three previous attempts at negotiation were undertaken, but all ended in failure.
Currently the interim government is offering farmers $250 per acre to not cultivate poppy.
The farmers, however, are demanding $7000 per acre because each acre yields around 100-120 kilgrams of poppy.
Seven US Soldiers Killed in Mujahideen Trap
GARDEZ (Special Report/BBC):
Seven American soldiers were killed in a trap laid down for them by Afghan and Foreign Mujahideen forces near Gardez.
An Afghan villager arrived at a US military post in Paktia Province and informed them that there was a group of injured Arab Mujahideen in a mud-hut in such and such village.
He told them that in order to surprise the Arabs, the Americans must go to the village quietly and not bring helicopters or any large vehicles.
The Americans then followed a 'safe' road to the village when they were ambushed by two Mujahideen:one Arab and one Pakistani.
Seven of the American soldiers were killed on the spot, being unable to escape, whilst others held out until American reinforcements and helicopters arrived.
The Mujahideen were able to evacuate safely the area into the mountains.
Unfortunately, they were unable to take away any of the American bodies, thus claiming the US$50,000 bounty that is on the head of a dead Western soldier in Afghanistan at present.
The BBC acknowledged that such an attack took place but said that only one American soldier was killed and the rest injured.
This attack comes at a time when another British soldier was shot in the head by a Mujahid sniper in Kabul.
He was killed on the spot.
