知事家族を「虐殺」
サラハディン州当局 調査と処罰要求
解決まで協力拒否も指示

【カイロ＝松本眞志】イラク警察は二十日、首都バグダッド北方のサラハディン州で実施された米軍の軍事作戦で同州知事の家族と親族五人が死傷したとし、州が米軍側に対して虐殺事件の調査を求めていると報告しました。
汎アラブ紙アルハヤトによると、事件が起きたのはサラハディン州の都市バイジ付近のアルシャット村。クアイシ州知事の十七歳の息子と親族一人が死亡し、ほかに親族三人が負傷しました。
同知事は、滞在中のトルコから事件の調査と事件に関与した米軍兵士の処罰を要求し、問題解決までの抗議の意思表示として、州の職員にすべての職務の停止と米軍への協力拒否を呼びかけました。
イラク警察は、米軍が知事の自宅を襲撃して眠っていた住民に発砲して死傷させたと確認。州のムサンナ・モハメド報道官は、攻撃を受けた住民らはテロリストとはなんの関係もないとして、「あらゆる点から見て虐殺行為だ」と主張しました。バイジ市で飲料店を営むユニス・ムルタダさんは、「米軍が虐殺に関与したのは今回が初めてではない」と証言しています。
一方、米軍側は二十日、同州知事と関係をもつ武装メンバーを殺害したと発表。事件についてイラク側と異なる見解を示しました。

Baghdad - US forces killed two armed men related to a provincial governor during a raid against Al Qaeda suspects in northern Iraq, a military statement said Sunday.
Local police said the troops raided the house of a relative of the governor and killed his son and nephew.
The US military said the incident took place in Bayji, 240 kilometres north of Baghdad, in the northern province of Salahaddin.
US forces entered a building where they found two armed men. ‘Perceiving hostile intent, coalition forces engaged and killed them,’ the statement said.
Two other suspects were detained and a third was injured in the operation, according to the statement.
The spokesman for the US forces, Abdel-Latif Rayan, told the Voices of Iraq VOI news agency that a US force was conducting a search operation for a terror suspect in a house in Bayji.
The force killed in self-defence two armed men who were in the house, Rayan said, adding that it transpired that both were related to the provincial governor, Hamad Mahmoud.
The suspect, who is believed to be an Al Qaeda financial officer in the province, was injured in the operation, the military spokesman said.
But local police sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur
DPA that US troops raided the house of the governor's sister-in-law and killed his son and nephew.
Mahmoud, who is currently visiting Turkey, called on the Iraqi government and US military to open an inquiry into the incident, the sources said.
