副大統領候補を決める、ビルダーバーグ会議が始まった。

現在、日本時間６日９時半、アメリカは５日午後８時半。
ヴァージニア州チャンティリーのウェストフィールド・マリオットホテルでは、１２５人のビルダーバーグ会議参加者達が旅装を解いて、明日以降のセッションの前の晩餐会で一年ぶりの再会を果たしていることだろう。（上の写真はホテルの入り口ゲート。若い男性はWe are Changeのルーク・ラドコフスキー君。）
アップル社で働いている人物からの内部告発として、infowars.comでは、１２５台のアイポッドの注文と発送依頼が、米司法省から寄せられたという記事を載せている。アイポッドの背面には、「Bilderberg 2008 」と刻印されているということだ。アップル社のスティーブ・ジョブズはビルダーバーグには出席したことがないので、これはホスト国であるアメリカの一種のジョークだろう。こういう「お土産」を米市民の税金で司法省（ＤＯＪ）が用意するのはどうなのか、とifowars.comは指摘する。
当然、今回の会合の参加メンバーには、ヒラリー・クリントンを支持してきた元国連大使のリチャード・ホルブルック、オバマ陣営の副委員長で、キャロライン・ケネディと一緒に、オバマの副大統領候補を選ぶ委員会を設立した、ゴールドマン・サックス取締役のジム・ジョンソンも含まれるだろう。今年のビルダーバーグは、オバマの副大統領候補、マケインの副大統領候補を決める会合となるだろう。
ヒラリー・クリントンは、この数日前にイスラエル・ロビーの一つであるＡＩＰＡＣの集会で、「イスラエル政策は、私ではない、次の民主党大統領が必ず進展させる」と確約する演説を行った。オバマも、これまでの反イスラエル・ロビー姿勢を転換し、ヒラリーと大差のない主張に切り替えている。
イスラエル・ロビーは、それでもパワーがあるという証明になる。ユダヤ系が国民の６％にもかかわらず、ウォール街に、産業界に資金力を持っているから、オバマも無視できないわけである。
ビルダーバーグ会議が行われるということで、世界各国から元首クラスの要人が集まるわけで、首都ワシントンＤＣでは、警察が警備を強化していると「ワシントン・ポスト」が伝えている。しかし、その理由については明かされない。
ビルダーバーグ会議とは、１２５人程度の世界のグローバル・エリートと呼ばれる財界人、政治家、官僚、軍人たちが一カ所にあつまって３日間のセッションを行い、「世界で次にこの問題に取り組む」という大きな意思一致を計るためのセミナーである。その他に既に述べたような晩餐会における、フリートーキングの会合もあり、「世界を動かす人脈」を形成する人々は、ざっくばらんに今後の世界の行方について議論を行う。
マスメディアからも、「エコノミスト」「インターナショナル・ヘラルドトリビューン」「ディ・ヴェルト」「フィナンシャルタイムズ」などから論説委員クラスがが毎年参加している。Ｗポストのグラハム社長は毎年のように参加している。ビルダーバーグについて話題にするのは、フィナンシャル・タイムズの論説委員長のマーティン・ウォルフくらいで、他は参加したこと自体を沈黙する。（地方メディアでは、マクレッチー・グループのペンシルベニア州の地元紙が記事を載せている。最後に転載する）
これはおかしい。ビルダーバーグの秘密主義を批判する独立系メディアの間では、「仮に１２５人のＮＦＬのスタープレイヤーが一カ所に集まって会合を開いたら、必ずメディアは取材クルーを送る。にも係わらず、世界銀行総裁、欧州中央銀行総裁のような、世界の主要人物たちが集まっているにもかかわらず、メディアは一切報道しない」と強く批判しているが、分かりやすいたとえである。
ワシントンでの会合の開催は、オランダの大使館が意図的に公式サイトでリークした以外は、ポルトガルのメディアが軽く報じた以外は、一切主流派メディアの活字となっていない。
食糧サミットや国連の温暖化防止会合についてはメディアは大きく報道するにもかかわらず、である。
ビルダーバーグは、公式には会議の最後で議決をしないということになっているが、実際は暗黙のコンセンサスが出来上がっているはずである。雰囲気で、温暖化対策や石油価格問題、貿易自由化問題など、「これが大事なんだな」という風に参加者の間で意思一致ができている。だから、議決はあえて必要ないのであろう。

Bilderberg Announces 2008 Conference
CHANTILLY, Va. — The 56th Bilderberg Meeting will be held in Chantilly, Virginia, USA 5 - 8 June 2008. The Conference will deal mainly with a nuclear free world, cyber terrorism, Africa, Russia, finance, protectionism, US-EU relations, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Islam and Iran. Approximately 140 participants will attend, of whom about two-thirds come from Europe and the balance from North America. About one-third is from government and politics, and two-thirds are from finance, industry, labor, education and communications. The meeting is private in order to encourage frank and open discussion.
Bilderberg takes its name from the hotel in Holland, where the first meeting took place in May 1954. That pioneering meeting grew out of the concern expressed by leading citizens on both sides of the Atlantic that Western Europe and North America were not working together as closely as they should on common problems of critical importance. It was felt that regular, off-the-record discussions would help create a better understanding of the complex forces and major trends affecting Western nations in the difficult post-war period. The Cold War has now ended. But in practically all respects, there are more, not fewer, common problems - from trade to jobs, from monetary policy to investment, from ecological challenges to the task of promoting international security. It is hard to think of any major issue in either Europe or North America whose unilateral solution would not have repercussions for the other. Thus the concept of a European-American forum has not been overtaken by time. The dialogue between these two regions is still - even increasingly - critical.
What is unique about Bilderberg as a forum, is the broad cross-section of leading citizens that are assembled for nearly three days of informal and off-the-record discussion about topics of current concern especially in the fields of foreign affairs and the international economy; the strong feeling among participants that in view of the differing attitudes and experiences of the Western nations, there remains a clear need to further develop an understanding in which these concerns can be accommodated; the privacy of the meetings, which has no purpose other than to allow participants to speak their minds openly and freely. In short, Bilderberg is a small, flexible, informal and off-the-record international forum in which different viewpoints can be expressed and mutual understanding enhanced.
Bilderberg's only activity is its annual Conference. At the meetings, no resolutions are proposed, no votes taken, and no policy statements issued. Since 1954, fifty-five conferences have been held. The names of the participants are made available to the press. Participants are chosen for their experience, their knowledge, and their standing; all participants attend Bilderberg in a private and not an official capacity.
