Resistance mortars blast “Green Zone” Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 2:13pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance fired four mortar rounds into the top-security area around the Republican Palace in central Baghdad − the district that the Americans have dubbed the “Green Zone” − on Sunday morning.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that four mortar shells blasted into the “Green Zone” setting off warning sirens inside the compound, where the American and puppet regime headquarters are huddled behind high walls and fortifications. Helicopter gun ships were observed flying into the area and US forces closed off some entrances to the “Zone” for a period of time.
US, puppet forces carry out another mass raid on headquarters of Muslims Scholars Association in Baghdad Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 2:20pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US forces accompanied by puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” and puppet “Iraqi National Guards” raided the headquarters of the Association in the Umm al-Qura Mosque in Baghdad on Sunday.
The AMSI reported that the Americans arrested two guards at the mosque and took away three cars belonging to employees of the Muslim Scholars Association − the highest Sunni Muslim religious authority in Iraq.
Eyewitnesses outside the AMSI headquarters said that the Americans and their puppet allies showed up in large numbers, including 20 vehicles full of puppet “Shock Troops and 10 cars full of puppet “National Guards,” in addition to a large number of American military vehicles.
The AMSI headquarters was a target for a similar raid on 22 July. At that time the Americans and their puppet allies destroyed whole offices and arrested 14 of the guards and empoloyees.
Battles between US troops and Shi‘i sectarian gunmen leave 11 Iraqi civilians dead, 40 wounded.
In a dispatch posted at 2:15pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that 11 people were killed and 40 more wounded in a mortar bombardment and armed clash in the al-‘Ubaydi area of eastern Baghdad.
The AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying that a number of mortar rounds blasted into the al-‘Ubaydi area. Women and children are among the casualties, the source said, all had been taken to the as-Sadr Hospital and the Imam ‘Ali Hospital in the neighboring district of Madinat ath-Thawrah − dubbed “Madinat as-Sadr” since the US occupation of Iraq.
The source said that the area was at the moment witnessing an armed clash between US troops and Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi‘i sectarian gunmen using various types of weapons.
Resistance bomb disables US Humvee in Baghdad’s al-Baladiyat neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 10:07am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the al-Baladiyat neighborhood of eastern Baghdad on Saturday afternoon.
The AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying that one American Humvee was disabled in the blast, but that he had no information on the nature or extent of US casualties.
Mysterious cycle bomb explodes in Baghdad, killing civilian.
In a dispatch posted on its website Sunday, Quds Press reported that a booby trapped motorcycle blew up on al-Khulafa’ Street in Baghdad Sunday.
A source in the puppet security forces said that the motorcycle was parked in the area when it exploded, killing one Iraqi civilian and wounding four more in addition to inflicting damage on nearby buildings.

In a dispatch posted at 10:07am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US aircraft opened fire at a number of houses in the Madinat ath-Thawrah section of Baghdad − the district that has been dubbed “Madinat as-Sadr” since the US invasion of Iraq in the spring of 2003.
The AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the American attack left two civilians wounded.

In a dispatch posted at 10:07am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that mortar rounds blasted into houses in the as-Sihhah neighborhood of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Saturday evening, killing one civilian and wounding six more. A number of houses were also damaged in that attack.
The AMSI reported sources in the puppet police as saying that the source of those mortar shells was unknown.

Men, women hold mass rallies in at-Tarimiyah demanding release of woman captured by US forces.
In a dispatch posted at 11:14am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that thousands of residents of the town of at-Tarimiyah, 30km north of Baghdad, poured out into the streets in a mass demonstration demanding the release of an Iraqi woman captured by US occupation forces.
The AMSI reported that the demonstration began with a rally near al-Bukhari Hall in the area of the Muhammad al-Amin Mosque in the early morning hours of Sunday. The protestors called on the Americans to release Nuriyah Muhammad ‘Ulaywi and her brother Faris Muhammad ‘Ulaywi, both of whom the American forces had abducted from their home in at-Tarimiyah.
Women of at-Tarimiyah are planning to hold their own rally to demand the release of the woman and to support the demonstration launched by local men. The protestors say that their rallies will continue until Nuriyah is set free.
Earlier the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq issued a statement denouncing the Americans’ arrest of Nuriyah ‘Ulaywi and saying that it was holding the US occupation fully responsible for her fate.

US headquarters in Babil Province bombarded Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 2:13pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military headquarters in Babil province south of Baghdad came under mortar bombardment on Saturday.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that thre mortar shells blasted into the headquarters and plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the facility. US aircraft flew in to prowl the skies overhead following the attack.

Kirkuk.
US troops open fire on family car, wounding six near Kirkuk Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 10:28am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that six members of one family were wounded when an American patrol opened fire on their car on the road between Kirkuk and al-Huwayjah on Saturday evening.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the Americans opened fire on a family that was traveling in their white car from al-Huwajah to Kirkuk. The head of the family, Ahmad Muhammad ‘Abdallah al-Jabburi was wounded as were five other members of the family, including two women and a little girl.
One witness said that the car tried to pass an American patrol near the tomb of as-Sayyid Ahmad Dhiyab, 25km southwest of Kirkuk, making the Americans fear that the car was trying to attack them. The US troops opened fire on the car, wounding six people aboard. All the victims were hospitalized for treatment.
