US admits five more Americans killed in Iraq Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 4:30pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military had issued two communique´s admitting that five more American troops had been killed and four more wounded in Baghdad on Saturday.
The AMSI reported one of the American announcements as saying that an explosion killed four special force troops and wounded four more of them during combat operations to the south of Baghdad on Saturday, 11 August.
A second American statement said that one special force soldier had been shot and killed in a small arms attack on his foot patrol in southeastern Baghdad also on Saturday.
Mortar attacks target US base set up in popular market in eastern Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 11:16am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that eight explosions shook an area of eastern Baghdad on Sunday morning.
The AMSI reported residents as saying that seven mortar shells targeted a US base in the ash-Sha‘b area of Baghdad, which the Americans have set up in the popular central market in the area.
The residents said that the eighth blast occurred near the US camp and was believed to have come from a bomb exploding. Witnesses said that the explosions caused panic among residents of the area around the American base and traffic on streets leading to the ash-Sha‘b and al-Bunuk areas was totally snarled.
Residents of al-A‘zamiyah demand food, fuel be allowed in as conditions worsen on sixth day of US-imposed blockade and lockdown.
In a dispatch posted at 11:08am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Baghdad district of al-A‘zamiyah, which American forces walled off from the rest of the city several months ago, has been completely sealed off since Monday, 6 August. US forces manning the entrances and exits from al-A‘zamiyah have been permitting no one to come in or leave.
The AMSI reported local residents as saying that US forces cruised the area using loudspeakers to announce that all vehicles were banned from the streets of al-A‘zamiyah and after six days under lockdown with no supplies, the situation I the city has greatly worsened. Residents reported that it has been impossible for residents to buy tomatoes, bread or any other foods for nearly a week.
AMSI reported that local residents are now demanding that food and fuel be allowed into al-A‘zamiyah and employees allowed to come and go.

Al-Khalis.
Puppet Iraqi regime troops accompanied by Shi‘i sectarian gunmen raid village near al-Khalis, killing four civilians, destroying houses.
In a dispatch posted at 12:58pm Baghdad time midday Sunday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that puppet army troops backed up by Shi‘i sectarian militiamen carried out raids and searches of the village of ‘Arab Shawkah in the area of al-Khalis, 57km north of Baghdad.
The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that the raids and searched began Saturday night. The puppet army troops and their sectarian gunmen allies stormed violently into residences. In the course of the raids, four civilians were killed and several houses completely destroyed.
Al-Miqdadiyah.
Civilians abducted in al-Miqdadiyah Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 12:58pm Baghdad time midday Sunday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that unknown armed men kidnapped several local residents of al-Miqdadiyah, 85km north of Baghdad, on Sunday morning.
AMSI reported a source in the al-Miqdadiyah puppet police as saying that the gunmen stormed into the al-Miqdadiyah car park near the al-‘Asri neighborhood and hijacked a Hyundai vehicle with all its passengers inside. The victims were driven off to an unknown destination.
Girl shot dead by sniper in al-Miqdadiyah.
In a dispatch posted at 12:58pm Baghdad time midday Sunday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a 12-year-old girl was shot to death by a sniper in the Sarihah area to the east of al-Miqdadiyah.
AMSI reported that the girl’s body was taken to the city hospital.
Fighting between gunmen and puppet police rages in neighborhood controlled by Jaysh al-Mahdi sectarians.
In a dispatch posted at 11:16am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that fierce fighting broke out between Iraqi armed men and puppet police in al-Miqdadiyah, 85km northeast of Baghdad on Saturday night.
The AMSI reported a source in the local puppet security forces as saying that armed men attacked a patrol of the puppet police who are based in the al-‘Askari neighborhood, which is controlled by the Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.
The source said that the fighting went on for more than an hour using light and medium weapons. All roads to the area were closed and residents stayed indoors to try to stay out of the crossfire.
Many puppet policemen and local residents were wounded in the battle that also heavily damaged the French electricity power plant and main electric lines that serve the neighborhoods of al-Miqdadiyah, imposing a blackout on the residents of the city.

Al-Kut.
US “Camp Delta” near al-Kut comes under mortar bombardment early Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 4:14pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Aswat al-‘Iraq news agency, which was set up by Reuters and the U.N. Development Agency, reported residents of the city of al-Kut as saying that the US base known as “Camp Delta” had come under mortar bombardment at dawn on Sunday.
Aswat al-‘Iraq reported eyewitnesses in the al-Jihad neighborhood to the southwest of al-Kut − which is located 190km southeast of Baghdad − as saying that they heard the sound of three explosions of mortar rounds go off in the nearby US “Camp Delta.”
A witness said that he could hear the explosions coming from the camp, located 4km west of the city but had no idea as to whether the shells landed inside the camp or near it. US forces, in keeping with their policy of hiding facts regarding losses in Iraq, issued no report on the attack.
The witness said, however, that US fighter planes and helicopter gun ships flew in over the camp and the surrounding area firing flares to try to find the men who had carried out the attack.

Kirkuk.
Resistance attack south of Kirkuk leaves three puppet police dead.
In a dispatch posted at 2:08pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Aswat al-‘Iraq news agency, which was set up by Reuters and the U.N. Development Agency, reported that the Iraqi Resistance attacked a patrol of puppet police to the south of Kirkuk on Sunday.
Aswat al-‘Iraq reported a source in the US-installed Joint Operations Chamber which is under the nominal command of the puppet police as saying that Resistance men in two late-model cars attacked a puppet police patrol near the village of ‘Arab Koy, 25km south of Kirkuk. Three puppet policemen were killed and a fourth wounded in the attack.
Al-Huwayjah.
Resistance attack leaves puppet soldier dead near al-Huwayjah.
In a dispatch posted at 2:08pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Aswat al-‘Iraq news agency, which was set up by Reuters and the U.N. Development Agency, reported that the Iraqi Resistance attacked the Iraqi Resistance shot and killed a puppet soldier in the area of al-Huwayjah, 200km north of Baghdad.
Aswat al-‘Iraq reported a source in the US-installed Joint Operations Chamber in Kirkuk − a facility that is under the nominal command of the puppet police − as saying that the puppet soldier was killed when Resistance fighters opened fire on him near the az-Zab car park in the al-Huwayjah area, 200km north of Baghdad.

British gunfire wounds civilians in al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 1:10pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a British patrol opened fire indiscriminately wounding several Iraqi civilians in the southern city of al-Basrah Saturday night.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the shooting occurred after a bomb exploded by a British patrol that then came under light arms fire in the at-Tuwaysah district of the city, according to a British statement. A British spokesman admitted that when British troops responded to the attacks, they shot a number of civilians. The British did not specify how many civilians they had wounded but announced that the incident was “under investigation.”
British camps, bases in al-Basrah bombarded.
In a dispatch posted at 1:10pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that all British facilities in al-Basrah cam under indirect fire in the previous 24 hours according to a British spokesman.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported the British spokesman as saying that most of the shells landed outside the British camps and cause no casualties or damage.
