Ad-Dulu‘iyah.
Dozens of Resistance fighters in cars equipped with heavy weapons attack puppet police headquarters in ad-Dulu‘iyah Friday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted 12:15am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a large-scale assault on a puppet police station in ad-Dulu‘iyah, 90km north of Baghdad, Friday afternoon.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the provincial puppet police as saying that dozens of Resistance fighters in 10 large vehicles swept in and attacked the puppet police administration building in ad-Dulu‘iyah firing the heavy weapons that were mounted on the vehicles. A fierce battle erupted in which various types of weapons were used as the puppet police battled the Resistance attackers. The engagement lasted untilthe attackers finally withdrew, leaving behind a car bomb rigged to explode in the eastern part of ad-Dulu‘iyah, according to the puppet police source.
After the end of the battle, the puppet police immediately imposed a curfew on the town starting Friday evening and lasting until further notice. US troops came in to detonate the car bomb.
For about a week Resistance fighters in ad-Dulu‘iyah have been attacking the homes of puppet policemen and troops. Five puppet policemen’s houses have been blown up.
Samarra’.
US, puppet forces launch massive operation in Samarra’ Thursday, Friday.
In a dispatch posted at 3:25pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US army is “backing up” its puppet Iraqi army allies in a massive military operation in the area of Samarra’, 120km north of Baghdad. The offensive has been announced as an attempt to thwart supposed Resistance effort to interfere with plans to rebuild the Shi‘i Shrine of the Two Imams in that city.
The Shi‘i Shrine was the target of two devastating bombings − on 22 February 2006 and 13 June 2007. The US, puppet regime, and American-dominated western media all attempted to blame the Iraqi Resistance for those attacks, but the Resistance has insisted it has never carried out any such attack and has noted that the Shrine was for a long time under the control of the Iraqi Resistance prior to a US offensive and it was only after the US took over the city in early 2006 that the shrine was targeted for bombing in February that year. Observers also have noted that following that attack, the damaged shrine had been put under tight security, making it impossible for anyone to approach without authorization from the US military, the puppet military, or the Shi‘i sectarian militias that work with the Americans and their stooges.
Observers believe that the shrine was blown up by the occupation or its supporters in an effort to stir up sectarian violence, diverting attention from the occupation and the struggle to resist it.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military announced on Friday that more than one thousand puppet troops and police, backed up by US paratroops have been carrying out a military operation in Samarra’ that began on Thursday. Witnesses said that the puppet troops cruised around the city with loudspeakers announcing that a curfew had been imposed until further notice.
The American statement said that 2,500 puppet troops and police had been deployed in Samarra’ after the bombing last June, so the current deployment is an increase in the forces on the ground.
