Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Hadithah.
Resistance mortars slam into US base near al-Hadithah for one hour Saturday evening.
In a dispatch posted at 10:21pm Baghdad time Saturday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance forces blasted the US base in al-Haqlaniyah, near al-Hadithah, about 280km northwest of Baghdad Saturday evening.
The AMSI reported sources in the puppet police as saying that the Iraqi Resistance pummeled the American base at Ras Jisr Hajlan in the al-Wadi area of al-Haqlaniyah with mortar shells for a whole hour Saturday evening. Plumes of smoke were seen rising over the US-occupied facility but in keeping with the American practice of concealing facts regarding US losses in Iraq, no details were released by the US forces.
Rawah.
Resistance decimates Kurdish gunmen escorting massive convoy to US bases in far western Iraq Friday night. Seventeen trucks destroyed, 30 Peshmergah gunmen killed or wounded in biggest Resistance strike in western al-Anbar in four months.
In a dispatch posted on its website Saturday, Quds Press reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters waylaid a convoy of supply trucks that the Kurdish separatist Peshmergah militia were escorting from the northern Iraqi city of al-Mawsil to the US base in the city of Rawah, 315km northwest of Baghdad on Friday night.
In an exclusive interview with Quds Press, a source in the puppet security forces said that the Iraqi Resistance fighters destroyed 17 of the supply trucks in their attack, killing or wounding about 30 of the pro-American Kurdish separatist gunmen.
The source added that a number of Peshmergah military vehicles that were escorting the convoy were also destroyed in the Friday night Resistance attack.
The source explained that the Peshmergah militia have been providing logistical support for the American occupation troops and a number of their units deployed in the al-Makhazin area to the southwest of al-Hadithah − 280km northwest of Baghdad.
The Peshmergah have been forced to use the route through the desert from al-Mawsil to the towns on the upper Euphrates now that the Resistance has blown up all the bridges over the river other than the Rawah bridge in the far west of the country. The Rawah bridge is controlled by US troops and is the only bridge connecting the two sides of the river in that part of Iraq.
Quds Press noted that the Friday night attack was the fiercest such engagement to take place in the Upper Euphrates area of al-Anbar Province in the last four months.

In a dispatch posted at 7:18pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military in Iraq had admitted on Saturday that two more of their soldiers had died in Baghdad.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported the US communique´ as saying that a bomb exploded by a US reconnaissance patrol in Baghdad, killing one of the Americans. The other US soldier was killed in a similar bombing, the American command declared.
Inmates go on hunger strike in al-Muthanna Airport prison in Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 3:21pm Baghdad time Saturday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that captives being held in the al-Muthanna Airport prison in Baghdad began a hunger strike on Saturday in protest against ill treatment and because their cases are not brought to trial, forcing them to languish behind bars indefinitely.
The AMSI reported the prisoners − who are under the control of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” as saying that they have gone on strike noting that conditions in the prison − as in the whole network of prisons run by the US and its puppet allies in Iraq − are deplorable. The inmates noted that they are held without trial until they “confess” to crimes they never did just in the hope that they might thereby achieve some sort of progress in their cases.
On 10 June 2007 Shadha al-‘Abbusi, a woman deputy in the American-installed puppet “Iraqi Parliament,” disclosed that 40,000 people were being held in prisons in Iraq − 20,000 by the US occupation troops and 20,000 by the puppet regime’s security forces − and she described the conditions of their imprisonment as “tragic.” In December 2006, the office of Shaykh ‘Abd as-Salam al-Kubaysi reported that there were 37,000 prisoners in Iraq and said that they were being subjected to a “slow death.”
Resistance bomb wounds three US troops in Baghdad Saturday morning.

Mysterious car bomb goes off in eastern Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 1:01pm Baghdad time midday Saturday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a car bomb exploded on the Camp ar-Rashid Street in eastern Baghdad at noon local time Saturday.

AMSI commented that in the last few days the number of Resistance attacks on US troops has increased in a number of the country’s provinces, but the US occupation command conceals the true numbers of American dead.
Diyala Province.
Al-Miqdadiyah.
Shi‘i sectarian militias continue campaign to evict Sunnis, partition Iraq.
In a dispatch posted at 10:25pm Baghdad time Saturday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Shi‘i sectarian militias burned down the al-Mu’mineen Mosque in the al-Miqdadiyah area, 85km northeast of Baghdad on Saturday.
The AMSI correspondent in the area also reported that the same Shi‘i sectarian gunmen set fire to 17 homes on Saturday, driving out their residents.
The Shi‘i sectarian militias are engaged in a campaign to purge central and southern Iraq of Sunnis in an effort to implement Zionist and American plans to partition Iraq along sectarian lines.
Efforts to split Iraq along religious and ethnic lines are part of the plans that US and Zionist politicians have long been cultivating with a view to fragmenting the Arab region.
The idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veteran Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions), A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)
The idea of splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American Zionist government officials Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 1996 for the then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Then in 2000 the neo-Conservative Project for a New American Century wrote Rebuilding America’s Defenses on the basis of the “Clean Break.”
The American version of the strategy for a partition of Iraq appeared in the article “The Three-State Solution” published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003 by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations). The same idea was reiterated, this time with “bi-partisan support” in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.
Then on 8 October 2006 the London Sunday Times reported that the partition of Iraq along religious and ethnic lines was one of the suggestions that the Baker-Hamilton commission was advancing.
Bomb kills five puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in al-Miqdadiyah.
In a dispatch posted at 10:01pm Baghdad time Saturday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a bomb exploded by a detachment of puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in al-Miqdadiyah, 85km northeast of Baghdad, on Saturday.
The AMSI reported that a joint force of US and puppet “National Guards” were carrying out a campaign of mass raids and arrests in the Balwar area of al-Miqdadiyah. Witnesses said that the campaign sparked fierce fighting.
Ba‘qubah.
Resistance attack leaves three puppet troops dead Saturday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 3:55pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters assaulted a checkpoint manned by Iraqi puppet army troops north of Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad, Saturday afternoon.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police in Ba‘qubah as saying that a group of armed men attacked the checkpoint manned by puppet army and “National Guard” troops after noon on Saturday, killing three of them and wounding five more.
The source said that the attack sparked a firefight at the checkpoint − which is located north of Ba‘qubah on the road to al-Khalis, 15km away. The source offered no further information and made no mention of any casualties among the Resistance fighters.
Al-Mada’in.
Iraqi Resistance sends Ahmad Chelebi fleeing for his life as Resistance mortars break up planned meeting of collaborators in al-Mada’in midday Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Baghdad time Saturday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi Resistance unleashed a mortar attack in al-Mada’in at noon Saturday, frustrating attempts by CIA agent Ahmad Chelebi to hold a meeting to found a collaborationist “al-Mada’in Salvation Council.”
The AMSI correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that shortly before the scheduled start of the meeting, the Resistance fired about 15 mortar shells into the where the gathering was to take place, a building known as the Hamid ar-Radi Hall located behind the Sulayman al-Farsi Mosque in al-Mada’in.
The witnesses described Ahmad Chelebi as fleeing from the scene along with his followers as soon as the shells started exploding. Since Chelebi and his companions fled disappeared quickly and US forces rushed to surround the area, no information on the nature or extent of casualties among the collaborators was available.
AMSI noted that the US and its puppet regime have been trying to set up collaborationist organizations in Iraqi provinces. The groups are called “salvation councils” and their aim is to lure certain tribal leaders to collaborate with the occupation authorities and form local puppet police forces and militias.
When the US invaded Iraq in the spring of 2003, the Americans brought along with them some 20,000 to 30,000 Shi‘i sectarian militiamen who had been trained and armed in Iran. After the US occupied Iraq, those gunmen became the core of the puppet police and security forces upon whom the Americans had to rely in dealings with the local population.
But as the relentless blows of the Iraqi Resistance have forced the Americans to seek ways to pull out of Iraq, the Shi‘i sectarian militias with their strong ties to the Iranian clerical establishment have increasingly been asserting themselves. While still wearing their American-supplied uniforms, in many cases, they have been functioning as advanced guards acting on behalf of the hegemonist Iranian fundamentalist regime, which is seeking to step into the shoes of the Americans when they depart Iraq.
Conflicting interests between the US occupiers and their pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian security forces have compelled the Americans to try to knock together alternative local “security forces” by attract other elements in Iraqi society to the “cause” of protecting and preserving the American occupation regime. In particular, Washington has recently been striving to attract Sunni Bedouin tribal leaders using sectarian anti-Shi‘i propaganda, exploiting and accentuating the sectarian differences in the country that the US has played upon from the very beginning in its effort to take control of Iraq.
But US attempts to establish Sunni “salvation councils” have been remarkably unsuccessful. In the main, the population rejects as traitors anyone who responds to US blandishments. As a result, the frustrated and isolated members of the collaborationist “salvation councils” find that they have no choice but to resort to brute force in trying to control “their own” local populations.
On Wednesday it was reported that the US had been compelled to dismiss its puppet governor and police chief in al-Fallujah, after the discovery that the local “al-Anbar Salvation Council” police − of which those two officials were in charge − had massacred 40 local people. It was a remarkable demonstration that that “Salvation Council” had failed in its chief mission, namely to “win the hearts and minds” of the local population to the support of the American occupation.
The Saturday Resistance attack on the collaborators in al-Mada’in was therefore the latest in a series of humiliating setbacks suffered by the US in its efforts to recruit collaborators.
Babil Province.
Al-Hillah.
Mysterious attack leaves nine civilians dead in al-Hillah.
In a dispatch posted at 9:20am Baghdad time Saturday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that armed men attacked houses to the north of al-Hillah (which is about 100km north of Baghdad), killing nine civilians, among them women and children. Three other people − all members of one family − were injured in the attack.
The AMSI reported a source in the puppet “Scorpion Brigade” as saying that armed men attacked the home of a family in the al-Humayriyah district of Jablah, to the north of al-Hillah. The source added that those who were wounded in the attack, and whose condition was grave, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Al-Qadisiyah Province.
Ad-Diwaniyah.
Bomb destroys US Humvee in ad-Diwaniyah.
In a dispatch posted at 3:27pm Baghdad time Saturday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that at a bomb went off by a US patrol in the al-Furat neighborhood of ad-Diwaniyah at 10am local time Saturday morning.
The AMSI reported sources in the puppet security services as saying that a bomb went off by a US patrol as it passed near the medical college. The blast burned and destroyed the Humvee in the explosion. The source said that the US troops responded by opening fire indiscriminately as American helicopter gun ships flew in to search for the attackers. The source provided no information regarding the nature or extent of casualties.
