MND-B patrol struck by explosive formed projectile
Multi-National Division − Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD ― Two Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers were killed and two other Soldiers were wounded when an explosive formed projectile detonated near their patrol during combat operations in a southern section of the Iraqi capital July 5.
Units operating in this area of Baghdad continue to conduct clearing operations in an effort to destroy and disrupt insurgent networks. Sustained operations of this nature are designed to reduce sectarian violence and help set the conditions for the improvement of essential services, economic growth and aid in the overall transition of security operations with Iraqi Security Forces in the lead.
The deceased Soldiers’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.

BAGHDAD ―A Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier was killed when a patrol
was struck by a roadside bomb in western Baghdad July 5.
In the past month this unit has performed several clearing operations and
targeted raids. These operations have netted numerous weapons caches
containing rocket propelled grenades, pistols and AK-47 assault rifles. They
have also detained numerous suspects as the Soldiers continue to provide a
more secure environment for Iraqi citizens.
The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of
next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.

MNC-I Soldier killed in combat operations

BAGHDAD − One MNC-I Soldier died of wounds received during combat operations in western Baghdad on Thursday.
The name of the Soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release from the Department of Defense.

The cause of the Soldier's death is under investigation.

BAGHDAD, July 7 (Xinhua) ― Up to nine U.S. soldiers were killed and eight others were wounded in Iraq, the U.S. military said on Saturday.
Two U.S. soldiers were killed and two others wounded on Friday when a roadside bomb explosion struck their foot-patrol in southern Baghdad, a military statement said.
Another soldier was killed when a roadside bomb hit his patrol in western Baghdad on Thursday, the military said.
Earlier in the day, the military announced the deaths of six more soldiers, including one died in non-battle related incident, and the injuries of six others during the past two days.
Names of the soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
About 3,595 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
