US locks down areas west of Baghdad after Resistance attacks cause puppet police to flee.
In a dispatch posted on its website Wednesday, Quds Press reported that US forces had imposed curfews on numerous areas to the west of Baghdad, including al-Khalidiyah (90km west of Baghdad); al-Habbaniyah (70km west of Baghdad); and in the al-‘Ankur area and the region around al-Habbaniyah lake.
Quds Press reported sources in the puppet police as saying that the Americans imposed the lock down on those areas after the puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council” police had fled from its two police stations in the area amidst rumors that Resistance groups planned attacks there. The Resistance had already in fact made attacks on several puppet targets in the vicinity.
Captain Muhammad ‘Ayyadah of the puppet police said that the Americans surrounded and blockaded the areas and then began massive searches in them backed up by puppet army troops and under air cover from US helicopter gun ships.
Meanwhile, al-Habbaniyah General Hospital announced that nine beheaded bodies of puppet policemen had been found in the area of al-Habbaniyah − most likely the result of Resistance attacks on puppet police facilities.

Resistance ambushes puppet police patrol near al-Hadithah Wednesday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 1:09pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed a puppet police patrol in the al-Haqlaniyah area near al-Hadithah, about 280km northwest of Baghdad at 11:30am local time Wednesday morning.
The AMSI reported that the attack took place in the Industrial Zone to the west of al-Haqlaniyah and that the Resistance fighters first tossed hand grenades at the patrol and then opened fire with machine guns, wounding several of the puppet policemen.
On the arrival of reinforcements after the attack, the puppet police hastened to close off the area and began evacuating their casualties to the city hospital.

In a dispatch posted at 1:09pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi puppet police forces recovered the bodies of two puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council” police in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad.
The AMSI reported that the Resistance executed the two puppet policemen after having arrested them in the as-Sajar area as they were heading home.
Abu Ghurayb.
Resistance bomb rips through US Humvee in Abu Ghurayb Wednesday.
In a dispatch posted on its website Wednesday, Quds Press reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the az-Zaytun neighborhood of Abu Ghurayb, 30km west of Baghdad on Wednesday.
A source in the puppet security forces told Quds Press that the bomb destroyed an American Humvee wounding the crewmen aboard it. Witnesses said that the blast had blown the leg off of one of the Americans. He was evacuated by the US troops to the nearby American base. Though the Americans had made no statements confirming or denying the attack local witnesses said that swarms of US helicopter gun ships prowled the skies above the scene after the attack.

Resistance car bomber blasts puppet police checkpoint in southwestern Baghdad midday Wednesday.

The AMSI reported a source in the puppet security services as saying that the explosion killed at least two puppet policemen and wounded seven more, by preliminary count. No further details on the attack were available. Puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” surrounded the area and two American helicopters were seen hovering around the area.
Witnesses say Resistance downed two US helicopters, not just one in Monday attack south of Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 12:31pm Baghdad time midday Wednesday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that eyewitnesses in the ‘Arab Jabbur area to the south of Baghdad insist that the Iraqi Resistance shot down two US helicopters in their area on Monday, not just one as the Americans claimed.
The AMSI reported that on Monday, 2 July, US helicopters were attacking their area − which had been under American blockade for two weeks − with rockets and cluster bombs, killing and wounding many civilians.
The witnesses said that as the helicopter gun ships were blasting their homes, Resistance fighters fired a number of ground-launched missiles at the aircraft, bringing down two of them.
In a dispatch posted on its website Wednesday, Quds Press quoted residents of the ‘Arab Jabbur area as saying that US aircraft had been firing rockets at ‘Arab Jabbur and al-Bayjiyah and also hit it with cluster bombs. Afterwards, they said, Resistance men fired a number of surface-to-air rockets at the American aircraft, bringing two of them down.
The witnesses told Quds Press that they had no idea what happened to the American crews, however. The villagers said that as regards their own casualties who had been killed or wounded by the American attacks, those individuals were taken to one of the nearby American bases for medical treatment since no medical center was operating in the village area after two weeks of American blockade.
Imprisoned Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq ‘Aziz reportedly charged with “repressing religious parties.”
In a dispatch posted at 10:19am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an “investigative judge” in the US-installed puppet government in Baghdad has charged Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq ‘Aziz − who has been in prison for 50 months without charge or trial − with the “crime” of “repressing religious parties” prior to the American invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported Ziyad Tariq ‘Aziz, the son of the imprisoned Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister, as relating that according to one of his Iraqi lawyers, Tariq ‘Aziz has been interrogated dozens of times and called as a witness in the various show “trials” being staged by the US and the puppet regime. Now, however, for the first time the puppet regime has come up with some kind of charge to level at Tariq ‘Aziz himself.
Ziyad ‘Aziz reported that the puppet regime “judge” had told his father that there is a video tape of a session of the Revolution Command Council − the supreme leadership body of the Arab Baath Socialist Party − during the 1980s in which an official proposed an order that sermons in mosques be required to include phrases in support of Saddam Husayn, the President of the Iraq − something that at the time Shi‘i clerics opposed, though prayers for the leader of the country are common in the religious services across the Arab world.
According to Ziyad ‘Aziz the “judge” asked Tariq ‘Aziz why he had not objected to that suggestion, and Tariq ‘Aziz replied that he did not recall any such meeting and that anyway, as an Arab Christian, he did not go to mosques. He added that the responsibility would lie with all the ministers in the government and not only with one.
The lawyer, whose name was not disclosed for security reasons, told Ziyad ‘Aziz that the puppet “judge” also asked his father where the “weapons of mass destruction” that the US used as an excuse to invade Iraq had been hidden. Tariq ‘Aziz replied to that question with astonishment that it would be raised after 50 months of occupation.
Mafkarat al-Islam noted that both the US and Britain have now admitted that there were no “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq, it becoming clear that such claims were merely ruses to try to justify an invasion before their domestic audiences.
Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq issues fatwa declaring US-backed draft Oil Law against Islamic law.
In a dispatch posted at 5:59pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI), the highest Sunni Muslim religious authority in occupied Iraq, issued a fatwa (religious legal opinion) stating that Islamic law prohibited the government from agreeing to the draft “Oil Law” foisted on the puppet “Iraqi parliament” by the US occupation authorities in an effort to cover US plunder of Iraqi petroleum resources with a whitewash of “legality.”
Mafkarat al-Islam reported the AMSI as declaring that “voting by the members of the current parliament on this law under any pretext, let alone ratifying it,” is forbidden under Islamic law. The AMSI legal opinion declared that anyone who votes on the draft law “earns the wrath of God for the crime of collaborating with the enemy in the plunder of public funds,” stamping such a person with the mark of a “traitor to God, His Prophet, and the Muslims.”
The AMSI ruling said that the draft law “is one of the agreements concluded with the occupation that has been signed by politicians who rode in along with it, the aim of which is to siphon off the greatest of resources according to the evidence presented by Iraqi oil experts who confirmed that this law enables companies in the occupying countries to take control of and siphon off the resource.”
On Tuesday the US-installed “government” approved of the final draft of the bill and sent it to the puppet “parliament” for discussion in the near future prior to its adoption.

In a dispatch posted at 1:09pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance men had planted explosives in the home of a member of the puppet police in al-Miqdadiyah, 85km northeast of Baghdad.
The AMSI reported a source in the al-Miqdadiyah puppet police as saying that the blast completely destroyed the house in an operation of a sort that has been carried out on many occasions as the Resistance targets collaborators serving the US occupation in the puppet security services.

The attack left one puppet policeman dead and three more wounded. The Resistance men also made off with the patrolmen’s PKS machine gun.
Wasit Province.
Al-Kut.
In a dispatch posted at 10:18am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US “Camp Delta,” located 4km west of al-Kut, about 150km southeast of Baghdad, was the target of a rocket and mortar barrage on Wednesday.
The AMSI reported that the Americans, in keeping with their practice of concealing information regarding the nature and extent of their casualties made it impossible to ascertain what the effects of the bombardment might have been. After the attack, US warplanes prowled the skies over al-Kut an the surrounding area at low altitude.

The AMSI reported the American announcement as saying that the prisoner died in an intensive care room in the prison hospital in the presence of the doctor on duty on 1 July. The statement claimed that an effort was being made to determine the cause of the prisoner’s death.
About 19,000 people are currently being held in three prisons run by the Americans in occupied Iraq, where abuse, maltreatment, and torture are contributing to a decline in health conditions. The Tuesday announcement came just days after another US admission that other Iraqi prisoners detained in Camp Bucca had died.
