In a dispatch posted at 3:32pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet police station in the al-‘Amil neighborhood of western Baghdad received the bodies of nine more civilian victims of Shi‘i sectarian murder and torture on Sunday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that US troops handed over the bodies to the puppet police station. All the victims had been killed by gunshots to the head and all bore signs of torture on their bodies − a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-run security services most of whose members are drawn from the Shi‘i sectarian militias.
The source said that the puppet police, in turn, handed the bodies over to the Forensic Medicine Department for identification.

In a dispatch posted at 2:58pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the body of the editor-in-chief of the newspaper as-Sabah had been found murdered in the Baghdad district of Madinat ath-Thawrah − nicknamed “Madinat as-Sadr” after the American invasion.

The attackers let Mijdhab’s son, Haydar ar-Rabi‘i, and the driver go.
Mijdhab’s body was found by a mosque in the “Madinat as-Sadr” area − a stronghold for the Iranian-backed Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia. It appeared he had been shot to death on Thursday.
The media have been a target in the course of the sectarian struggle against all enemies of the occupation since the US invasion. A total of 227 journalists have been killed since the US occupation began in March 2003. Mijdhab is reportedly the 28th journalist killed in Iraq since the beginning of 2007.

The attack was part of the offensive against all those who oppose the occupation that was launched by the Jaysh al-Mahdi and other Shi‘i sectarians along with the US-backed puppet regime forces following the suspicious bombing of the Shi‘i Shrine of the Two Imams in Samarra’ on 13 June.

Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah.
“Southern Iraqi Brigades” declares war on Jaysh al-Mahdi, the “heart of the tragedy” in southern Iraq, which “trains in Iran and south Lebanon to kill Iraqis” rather than fight the occupation as they have proclaimed.
In a dispatch posted at 2:51pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a group calling itself the “Southern Iraqi Brigades” threatened to declare war on the Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, declaring that pro-Iranian group to be responsible for the attacks on mosques and tombs in the city of al-Basrah. The Southern Iraqi Brigades declared in a statement: “The members of this Jaysh al-Mahdi constitute the head of the tragedy in southern Iraq as they prepare themselves to take over there after the exit of the occupation forces.”
The statement noted that the Jaysh al-Mahdi had penetrated into the security agencies of the puppet regime in large numbers and carry out crimes in their name.
The Southern Iraqi Brigades’ membership is drawn from the Arab tribes and former soldiers as well as independent citizens all opposed to Iranian interference in Iraq and to Iraqi stooges of Iran in southern Iraq. In its statement, issued Saturday, the Brigades declared: “the Jaysh al-Mahdi’s scandalous acts in al-Basrah have caused the deaths of numerous innocent local residents, with more than 30 killed on the first night [after the bombing of the Samarra’ shrine on 13 June] and many others injured, and with their attacks on Islamic houses of worship in which they burned many of them down.”
The Southern Iraqi Brigades declared that the Jaysh al-Mahdi had penetrated into the regime’s security apparatus such as the police, intelligence service, and numerous spying agencies, in large numbers such that they represent as much as 70 percent of those working in those departments. Thereby they have so subordinated the state and its agencies to carrying out its criminal acts on the streets in the south of Iraq that the activities of these criminal gangs that use religion and the name of Shi‘ism in their crimes − of which the Shi‘i people are innocent − have become rampant.”
The Southern Iraqi Brigades declared in their statement that for a long time they refrained from carrying out any kind of acts against the Jaysh al-Mahdi because it noisily asserted that it was making war on the occupation, “making their logic close to our goals, but we have discovered that that what they say has no relation to reality and that they are trained in Iran and in southern Lebanon to kill Iraqis.”
The Southern Iraqi Brigades warned that its guns would be trained on the al-Mahdi gangs and that the members of the Brigades “have been instructed not to have mercy on these murderers now that we have realized that they are the head of the tragedy in the south of Iraq.”
