Baghdad.
Resistance mortars blast US “Green Zone” Wednesday, despite total curfew.
In a dispatch posted at 2:58pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance had fired a barrage of mortar rounds into the top-security zone around the Republican Palace in Baghdad − the area that the Americans have dubbed “the Green Zone.”
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that plumes of smoke were seen rising from the “Green Zone” near the building of the American-installed Iraqi puppet “parliament,” “Convention Center,” and the American press and information center in the zone.
The Resistance managed to blast the high-security zone that serves as the American headquarters for all its operations in Iraq despite a total curfew that was imposed on the occupied Iraqi capital on Wednesday, following the suspicious bombing of the Shi‘i Shirne of the Two Imams in Samarra’.
Wednesday bombing of Shi‘i shrine in Samarra’ signals launch of new wave of sectarian “cleansing” campaigns with attacks reported on 17 Sunni mosques throughout Iraq.
In a dispatch posted at 3:43pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that shortly after the suspicious bombing of the Shi‘i Shrine of the Two Imams in Samarra’ on Wednesday, Shi‘i sectarian militias throughout the country launched a concerted wave of attacks on Sunni mosques.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at least 17 Sunni mosques had been attacked so far in the latest wave of sectarian “cleansing” that aims to drive Sunnis out of vast swaths of Iraq, in keeping with Zionist and American plans to partition the country.
The idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veteran Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions), A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)
The idea of splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American Zionist government officials Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 1996 for the then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Then in 2000 the neo-Conservative Project for a New American Century wrote Rebuilding America’s Defenses on the basis of the “Clean Break.”
The American version of the strategy for a partition of Iraq appeared in the article “The Three-State Solution” published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003 by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations). The same idea was reiterated, this time with “bi-partisan support” in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.
Then on 8 October 2006 the London Sunday Times reported that the partition of Iraq along religious and ethnic lines was one of the suggestions that the Baker-Hamilton commission was advancing.

The AMSI reported that Resistance men opened fire on an American foot patrol in the neighborhoods of al-‘Asri and al-Mu‘allimin sparking a fire fight in which light and heavy weapons were used for more than 15 minutes.
The witnesses said that after the battle, US troops launched a wave of searches and arrests of residences in the al-‘Asri area, looking for the Resistance men. The Americans arrested numerous local people in the course of the house-to-house raids.

The AMSI reported that the puppet “Lion Brigade” troops in militia cars began abducting people whose ID cards indicated that they were Sunni as they passed along the ‘Aliwi ash-Shallal Road in the al-Mada’in area. The victims were led away to an unknown destination.

The latest mass killings came in the wake of the bombing of the Shi‘i Shrine of the Two Imams in Samarra’ on Wednesday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Shi‘i sectarian militias set up road blocks near the Shi‘i Husayniyah of al-Wasy at the approach to al-Mahmudiyah. There they abducted the Sunnis who passed through along the highway from Baghdad.
Sources said that the Shi ‘ sectarian militiamen were operating with the aid of puppet regime troops, as they kidnapped Sunnis from their homes and killed them following demonstrations in the city to protest the bombing of the Shi‘i shrine. The sectarians and puppet regime troops also attacked two Sunni mosques in al-Mahmudiyah − the Grand Mosque of al-Mahmudiyah and the al-Mustafa Mosque but no details regarding the natue or extent of damage inflicted in those attacks was available.

Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah.
Taking their cue from the destruction of the Samarra’ shrine, Shi‘i sectarian militias backed by puppet army forces attack, destroy historical Sunni mosque in al-Basrah as US-Zionist-Iranian effort to purge Sunnis from southern Iraq accelerates.
In a dispatch posted at 7:47pm Makkah time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Shi‘i sectarian militias with the help of puppet Iraqi army forces assaulted the historic Sunni Mosque of ‘Uthman in the southern city of al-Basrah and after a four-hour battle with the mosque guards, blew up the minarets of the structure, much of which was destroyed. The attack took its cue from the suspicious bombing of the Shi‘i Shrine of the Two Imams in Samarra’ on Wednesday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Shi‘i sectarian militias attacked the Sunni Mosque of ‘Uthman in al-Basrah sparking a battle with the guards and worshippers who defended the building ferociously in a four-hour gunfight. Five of the mosque guards and worshippers were killed and 20 of the Shi‘i sectarian attackers also perished before the puppet army intervened.
The puppet “Iraqi army,” most of whose members are concurrently members of the Shi‘i sectarian militias, intervened in the battle and secured the escape of the muezzin and the Imam of the mosque and his family − all of whom lived in rooms in the building. The puppet army then handed the mosque over to the Shi ‘ sectarian militias to destroy, which they proceeded to do, planting explosive charges that completely demolished the uniquely soaring minarets in a blast so powerful it could be heard seven kilometers away. The collapse of the minarets demolished several rooms in the mosque and the force of the blast blew the massive main doors off their hinges.
