Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Fallujah.
US deploys in strength near al-Fallujah after Resistance attacks puppet troops in al-Karmah.
In a dispatch posted at 11:23pm Baghdad time Sunday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US occupation troops surrounded and blockaded the ar-Rashad area north of al-Karmah, which is near al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad. The Americans took over the ar-Rashad elementary school and turned it into a military base for themselves.
The AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the Americans sealed off the area at noon Sunday, after a large number of Iraqi Resistance fighters had deployed in the al-Karmah area and began attacking puppet regime troops. The Resistance men then withdrew from al-Karmah via ar-Rashad.
The events kept most local people huddled inside their homes, in anticipation of large-scale American military activity and the usual roundups of local residents. AMSI reported that al-Karmah, like al-Fallujah, has been under a ban on all vehicular traffic now for several days.
Ar-Rutbah.
US forces evacuate Bank of ar-Rutbah − after using it for five months as Marine headquarters.
In a dispatch posted at 8:28pm Baghdad time Sunday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US occupation troops evacuated from one of their biggest military bases in the city of ar-Rutbah, not far from the Jordanian border. US forces evacuated all their equipment from the Bank of ar-Rutbah in the al-Matar neighborhood of the city, the facility that the US Marines were using as their base.
The AMSI reported a press spokesman as saying that a large number of US military vehicles surrounded the bank in the early hours of Sunday as bank employees took back the building and set about preparing it for operation once again. Meanwhile US vehicles were seen transporting all the military equipment out of the bank building.
US forces took over the Bank of ar-Rutbah building about five months ago after throwing all the employees out and completely commandeering it, deploying Marines atop the roof as snipers.
Baghdad
Puppet parliamentarian admits 40,000 Iraqis being held in US and puppet regime prisons under “tragic” conditions.
In a dispatch posted at 12:03pm Makkah time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a committee of the US-installed puppet “Iraqi Parliament” has disclosed that there are more than 40,000 people languishing in the prisons of the American occupation forces and their Iraqi puppet regime, and described their condition as “tragic.”
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a female deputy in the US-installed parliament, Shadha al-‘Abbusi, who is a member of the puppet “Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights,” as saying that there are 20,000 prisoners in the US occupation’s prison camps and another 20,000 languishing in the prisons of the puppet regime. She offered no information on the numbers of Iraqis who have been kidnapped and are undergoing torture and murder at the hands of the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militias who work in tandem with the puppet regime and the Americans.
Al-‘Abbusi admitted that her committee had received numerous appeals and complaints of deaths of prisoners in the US and puppet regime’s dungeons as a result of torture, according to a report posted by the collaborationist “National Reconciliation Front” website and monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam. She said that the “tragic situation” of the 40,000 prisoners demanded “persistent work day and night” to alleviate.
Mafkarat al-Islam noted that the vast majority of prisoners in the US and puppet regime institutions are Sunnis who are swept up in arbitrary roundups. Often no charges are filed against them or they are charged with participation in attacks or helping the Iraqi Resistance and they then languish in the prisons for long periods.
The spokesman for Shaykh ‘Abd as-Salam al-Kubaysi disclosed in December 2006 that there were 37,000 prisoners being held by the puppet regime and that they were being subjected to “slow death.” He warned that if no publicity is given to the tens of thousands of such political prisoners in the hands of the Americans and their stooges it will mean death for all of them.
Al-Kubaysi noted that the hundreds of bodies that are recovered every day in Baghdad and other cities of Iraq bearing the marks of torture are victims of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” and its network of torture chambers and prisons.
Shi‘i sectarian militias together with US-backed puppet regime forces continue attacks on Sunni districts of Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 6:35pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Shi‘i sectarian militias bombarded the Sunni Abu Bakr as-Siddiq Mosque in the al-‘Amil neighborhood of southern Baghdad on Sunday afternoon.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that five heavy 120mm mortar shells blasted into the area of the Abu Bakr as-Siddiq Mosque after late afternoon prayers Sunday, wounding five local people and inflicting material damage on buildings and cars in the area.
For the past several days the al-‘Amil district and several other Sunni neighborhoods of Baghdad have been under attack by the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi‘i sectarian militia accompanied by US-run puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” troops in their escalating effort to “cleanse” vast tracts of southern and central Iraq and Baghdad of its Sunni population, in implementation of the sectarian partition plans concocted by Zionist and American think tanks.
Efforts to split Iraq along religious and ethnic lines − which often are masked under language about forming an Iraqi “federation” − are consistent with plans that US and Zionist politicians have long been cultivating.
The idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veteran Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions), A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)
The idea of splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American Zionist government officials Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 1996 for the then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Then in 2000 the neo-Conservative Project for a New American Century wrote Rebuilding America’s Defenses on the basis of the “Clean Break.”
The American version of the strategy for a partition of Iraq appeared in the article “The Three-State Solution” published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003 by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations). The same idea was reiterated, this time with “bi-partisan support” in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.
Then on 8 October 2006 the London Sunday Times reported that the partition of Iraq along religious and ethnic lines was one of the suggestions that the Baker-Hamilton commission was advancing.
Car bombs reportedly kill two civilians in Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 8:40pm Makkah time Sunday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet police claimed that two civilians were killed and eight more wounded when two car bombs exploded in southwestern Baghdad at midday on Sunday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the first car bomb, which he said had a driver, went off near a fuel station in the “1st of June” neighborhood of the al-Bayya‘ neighborhood. The blast killed one civilian, the source said, and wounded five more in varying degrees. The explosion also damaged private cars that were on the scene at the time.
The second explosives-packed car had been parked near a fuel station in the as-Sayyidiyah district of Baghdad when it went off later on Sunday, killing another civilian and wounding three more of them. The survivors were taken to hospital for treatment, the puppet police source said.
Salah ad-Din Province.
Tikrit.
Resistance truck bomb kills 14 puppet policemen near Tikrit Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 11:56am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-packed tank truck into the puppet police station near Tikrit, 180km north of Baghdad, on Sunday, totally demolishing the station.
Then, in a dispatch posted at 11pm Makkah time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that puppet police sources had said that 14 puppet policemen perished in the attack and another 30 puppet policemen were wounded.
Early reports had said that all the casualties were members of the puppet police force; later reports claimed that in addition to 30 wounded puppet policemen another 15 people − presumably “civilians” were allegedly injured in the attack. The puppet police spokesman admitted that five of the dead were officers, and two of those were colonels.
The source added that the attack, which took place in the al-Bu ‘Ujayl area east of Tikrit on the highway to Kirkuk, also inflicted serious material damage to the three-story building that served as the puppet police headquarters.
In response to the attack, the local authorities sent security men out in vehicles equipped with loudspeakers to declare a curfew on the city, claiming to have received intelligence that a second explosives-laden car was somewhere in the city.
Balad.
US admits Sunday that one of its pilots was killed south of Balad last Thursday.
In a dispatch posted at 10:32am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Pentagon had finally admitted that one of its pilots had been killed near the American-occupied al-Bakr Air Base in the area of Balad, about 70km north of Baghdad, on Thursday, 7 June. The American occupation forces have dubbed the al-Bakr Airbase “Camp Anaconda.”
The AMSI reported that the American pilot was killed when a Resistance bomb exploded south of the town.
Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.
Shi‘i sectarian militias attack Sunni village northwest of Ba‘qubah in attempt to massacre local inhabitants. Nine villagers die in defense against the sectarians equipped with latest weapons.
In a dispatch posted at 6:45pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Shi‘i sectarian militias attacked the al-Jizani village in the ‘Arab Sankar area, 20km northwest of Ba‘qubah − which is 65km northeast of Baghdad − on Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Sunday morning attack left nine villagers dead and another 15 wounded and followed a four-day siege to which the Shi‘i sectarian gunmen had subjected the area.
Villagers reported that the Shi‘i sectarian gunmen attacked the village in the first hours of Sunday and were still assaulting the town as of the time of reporting late Sunday afternoon. The residents said that the Shi‘i sectarian militias were using the latest light and medium weapons in addition to mortars against Arab tribesmen who have been fiercely defending their village with whatever weapons they had at their disposal. The sources said that the intent of the Shi‘i sectarian gunmen is to overrun the Sunni village and massacre all the inhabitants as part of the sectarian “cleansing” campaign aimed at eliminating Sunnis from much of Iraq and then splitting up the country in keeping with Zionist and American partition plans.
Al-Mada’in.
Students in al-Mada’in resolve to boycott final exams after puppet regime moves testing center to area controlled by sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi death squads.
In a dispatch posted at 10:56am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that students in schools in the town of al-Mada’in, 25km southeast of Baghdad, resolved to boycott final exams this year because the puppet regime had announced that the venue for those exams was being changed to the Jisr Diyala area − an are known to be under the control of the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi death squads.
The AMSI reported students as denouncing the move, saying that transferring the location where the tests are to be administered to an area controlled by the murderous sectarian gunmen was putting the lives of students at risk, not the least because students from outside the area would have to go through literally dozens of checkpoints manned by sectarian troops known for kidnapping, torturing, and killing Sunnis, before they could even get to the testing center.
AMSI reported that a school administrator who tried to get the puppet “Education Department” to move the testing center back to al-Mada’in was the target of an assassination attempt. That attempt prompted the students to decide to boycott the tests altogether even though that would put their graduation and future in jeopardy.
Residents of the area of al-Mada’in are demanding that the puppet “Education Department” move the tests back to inside their city so that the students are not forced to give up a whole year of study and re-do their entire year of school again next year.
AMSI also noted that the testing centers in the Jaysh al-Mahdi areas − where Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen take up positions around the testing centers, pressure administrators to allow the students who are under their protection to cheat during their final exams.
Babil Province.
Al-Iskandariyah.
Resistance car bomb destroys bridge used by US troops, trapping American soldiers under wreckage.
In a dispatch posted at 10:48pm Makkah time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb blew up on a bridge frequently used by US occupation troops to the south of Baghdad on Sunday, wounding several US troops and trapping many under ruins of the bridge.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a part of the bridge collapsed as a result of the attack, which took place near al-Iskandariyah, 40km south of Baghdad.
Al-Basrah Province.
Abu al-Khasib.
Sectarian murders, kidnappings increase in Abu al-Khasib.
In a dispatch posted at 12:06pm Makkah time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Shi‘i sectarian militias murdered Khalil Ibrahim, the muezzin of the Sunni Abu Khafif Mosque in the center of the Abu al-Khasib district just southeast of al-Basrah in southern Iraq. The sectarian gunmen committed the act as Ibrahim was on his way to the mosque to broadcast the call to the night prayer Saturday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in another similar sectarian attack, an employee of the health center in Abu al-Khasib was shot to death by sectarian gunmen on his way to work.
In another sectarian assault of the sort that has now become virtually routine in the al-Basrah area, Shi‘i sectarian gunmen in an official puppet regime vehicle kidnapped a Sunni resident of the Muhayyilah area. His fate is unknown.
