A sectarian murder spree continues, 20 bodies recovered in Baghdad Thursday.
In a dispatch posted at 12:03am Baghdad time Friday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the puppet police recovered 20 bodies of murdered people dumped in various parts of Baghdad on Thursday.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that most had been bound and blindfolded and shot to death. The bodies were taken to the Forensic Medicine Department for identification.
Shi‘i sectarian gunmen abduct dozens of Sunni Iraqis at fake checkpoint in Baghdad Wednesday.
In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Shi‘i sectarian militia set up a fake roadblock in the ar-Risalah al-Ula (prefabricated housing) district of Baghdad and abducted dozens of local people based on their religious affiliation.
The AMSI reported that the victims were lead away to an unknown destination. The Shi‘i sectarian militias are know for torture and murder of Sunni captives as part of their effort to drive Sunnis out of much of Iraq.
Eyewitnesses said that the sectarian militiamen were residents of the area where the abductions occurred and that some of the local residents tried to prevent them from carrying out their criminal activities but the militiamen responded by attacking them and driving them away.
The Shi‘i sectarian militias have come back in force after a brief American show of force against them at the start of the so-called “New Security Plan” for Baghdad over two months ago. The US has employed the Shi‘i sectarian militias, which cooperate with the US occupation forces, in activities against the Iraqi Resistance movement.
US air strike targets “Madinat as-Sadr” before dawn Thursday.
In a dispatch posted at 7:32pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military reported killing three armed men and wounding three civilians in an air attack on what it said were hideouts for fighters in the Madinat ath-Thawrah section of Baghdad at dawn on Thursday. The Madinat ath-Thawrah district has been nicknamed “Madinat as-Sadr” since the US occupation in 2003.
The AMSI reported a US military communique´ as saying that occupation troops came under heavy gunfire from light arms and rocket-propelled grenades in the area and therefore called in air support which carried out the attack. The American statement added that four “suspects” had also been arrested.
Eyewitnesses in the district told Agence France Presse (AFP) that the US air strike on the al-Urfli neighborhood of Madinat ath-Thawrah, which is a stronghold of the Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, left eight people dead and nine wounded. They said that the US attack began shortly after midnight and lasted until 5am local time and that in addition to the casualties, 16 houses and several cars were damaged.
Resistance welcomes Cheney with rocket attack on “Green Zone” Wednesday.
In a dispatch posted at 10:38am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi Resistance fired a Katyusha rocket into the US Embassy located in the top-security area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad − the 3.5-square-mile area dubbed the “Green Zone” by the Americans.
The AMSI reported an informed puppet security source as saying that the attack took place on Wednesday evening. The puppet security officer declined to offer any information on destruction or casualties caused by the rocket attack, which was timed to coincide with the visit of US Vice President Dick Cheney to occupied Iraq.
Iraqi professor believed murdered by pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militia in Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 9:55am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Forensic Medicine Department identified the body of Dr. Mahdi Salih al-‘Ani, Assistant Professor in the College of Economic Management at al-Mustansiriyah University. A source in the University said that Dr. al-‘Ani had been kidnapped by an armed sectarian militia about a week prior to being found dead.
The AMSI noted that more than 30 professors on the staff of al-Mustansiriyah University alone have been murdered. Hundreds of Iraqi professors and scientific professionals have been murdered since the US occupation in the spring of 2003. Responsibility for the apparent effort to eliminate much of the Iraqi intelligentsia has been laid at the door of the Zionist Mossad secret police. Iranian secret services are believed responsible for numerous murders of former Iraqi military officers and scientists who took part in the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-1988.

US warplanes attack village near al-Miqdadiyah Thursday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 1:18pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US aircraft struck villages in the are of al-Miqdadiyah on Thursday morning.
The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that US warplanes rocketed the villages in the area of ‘Arab Jabbur on suspicion that Resistance fighters were present in the area. No further information on the nature or extent of damage and casualties was available.
Resistance bomb targets US patrol in al-Miqdadiyah Thursday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 1:18pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in al-Miqdadiyah on Thursday morning.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source in the city as saying that a Resistance bomb that had been planted at the Balwar junction in the al-Mu‘allimin neighborhood blew up by a US patrol. No information on the nature or extent of US casualties was available, since the Americans immediately imposed a “security cordon” around the area and opened fire indiscriminately.

US patrol attacked in ad-Diwaniyah late Thursday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 11:45pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a US patrol had come under rocket-propelled grenade attack in ad-Diwaniyah, 120km south of Baghdad at 7pm local time Thursday afternoon.
The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that the attack took place in the 60 Street area and left one US Humvee completely disabled and on fire.
The witnesses said that the Americans responded by opening fire indiscriminately and US helicopters flew in over the area and fired percussion grenades that frightened local residents. They then evacuated their casualties to the nearby US “Camp Echo.”

In a dispatch posted at 11:45pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US troops were involved in battles in the al-Wahdah neighborhood of ad-Diwaniyah, 120km south of Baghdad on Thursday afternoon.
The AMSI reported a puppet security source as saying that the clashes left one American officer dead. The witness, who asked not to be named said that “the officer of one American patrol that was halted near the [puppet] police station in the al-Wahdah neighborhood was killed by a sharpshooter in the course of the hour-long battle.
The source said that US and puppet Iraqi forces with helicopter air support closed off the roads leading to the al-Wahdah neighborhood and carried out extensive searches looking for the fighters and sharpshooter.

US troops kill peasant in raid on village near al-Huwayjah.
In a dispatch posted at 9:55am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US forces killed a peasant working in the village of al-Madinah near the city of al-Huwayjah. The reasons for the killing were unknown.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source in the city as saying that the Americans killed the peasant in the course of a raid they made on his village.

Puppet army colonel found dead in al-Mawsil.
In a dispatch posted at 12:03am Baghdad time Friday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the bodies of two puppet military men were found dead in the an-Nur neighborhood of northeastern al-Mawsil.
The AMSI reported a puppet police spokesman as saying that one of the bodies was a colonel, the other had no rank insignia.
