Al-Anbar Province.
Ar-Ramadi.

Mysterious bombs reportedly kill civilians in ar-Ramadi − puppet regime official blames al-Qa‘idah.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that puppet security officials announced that 20 people had been killed and more than 40 more wounded in two car bomb explosions near ar-Ramadi. The puppet police, which claimed that fighters were in the explosive-laden cars when they exploded, blamed al-Qa‘idah for the attacks that claimed civilian casualties.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported puppet police colonel Tariq Dhiyab who is also the puppet regime’s “Security Counselor” in al-Anbar Province as saying that the first car bomb exploded in the crowded market in the town of al-Bu Dhiyab to the northeast of ar-Ramadi. The puppet regime official claimed that 12 people were killed in the market, among them women and children, and that more than 25 more were wounded.

The puppet official went on to say that the second car bomb went off just a short while after the first exploded. The second bomb targeted a puppet police checkpoint in the al-Jazirah area, killing eight, two of them puppet policemen.

The puppet security official, Tariq Dhiyab, accused al-Qa‘idah of being behind the two attacks, asserting that the explosions were part of an offensive by the Resistance group against groups that were collaborating with the US occupation.

Baghdad.

Fighting rages in al-A‘zamiyah after puppet “National Guards” open fire on local residents.

In a dispatch posted at 2:15pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at the time of reporting fierce fighting was underway in the Sunni district of al-A‘zamiyah between local residents and puppet “Iraqi National Guards.”

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq as quoting local eyewitnesses who said that the fighting broke out when puppet “National Guards” surrounced the al-Kamb are near as-Safinah in the district and began firing indiscriminately on local residents while shouting insults and curses at them.

The correspondent reported that the number casualties among the puppet “Guards” or among the local residents was unknown as of the time of reporting.

Shi‘i sectarian militias launch attacks on al-A‘zamiyah from time to time. US forces recently walled off the entire Sunni district, claiming that they were trying to “protect” local residents. Locals demonstrated in protest against the scheme, knowing that its purpose was to isolate them and effect a sectarian split of the country. Despite the American wall, Shi ‘ sectarian gunmen occupied an-Nu ‘man Hospital last week, evicting the patients and closing down the facility by order of the American-backed puppet regime’s “Ministry of Health.”

The attack by puppet “National Guard” forces on Monday further exposed the true purpose of the American wall to be the isolation of the Sunni population so as to control and squeeze it out of one location after another in order to implement Zionist and US plans for the partition of Iraq on sectarian lines.

US evacuates wounded colonel from Iraq for medical treatment.

In a dispatch posted at 10:53am Makkah time Monday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two US military sources have disclosed that a high-ranking American officer who was wounded in Iraq last week was transported out of the country to receive medical treatment.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Colonel Bill Don Farris, the commander of the 2nd “Falcon” Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division, was wounded on Thursday while surveying the wall that US forces are building to seal off the Sunni district of al-A‘zamiyah from the rest of the country.

Iyyad ‘Aflaq says his father, Michel ‘Aflaq − founder of Baath Party − wrote letter saying he had embraced Islam in 1980.

In a dispatch posted at 11:12pm Makkah time Monday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the son of Michel ‘Aflaq, the founder of the Arab Baath Socialist Party, has disclosed that his father had left a letter that he wrote to President Saddam Husayn in 1980 announcing that he had embraced Islam.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iyyad Michel ‘Aflaq told al-‘Arabiyah.net that his father told Saddam Husayn in the letter that “should anything happen to me, I will die in the Islamic religion. I testify that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.” ‘Aflaq then signed the letter with the Islamic name “Ahmad Michel ‘Aflaq” and dated the letter 12 July 1980.

Iyyad ‘Aflaq said that his father penned the letter after a flight he had taken from Paris to Baghdad had experienced serious difficulty. The airplane managed to land safely at Baghdad airport.

Iyyad ‘Aflaq said that in 1995 − several years after his father’s death in 1989 − he discovered the letter in the copy of the Qur’an that his father had been carrying aboard the airplane on that flight. He sent a letter to Iraqi President Saddam Husayn including his father’s original note with it. The letter was later placed in the tomb of the Baath Party founder in Baghdad.

Ahmad Michel ‘Aflaq (1910-1989) was the co-founder of the Baath Party along with Salah al-Baytar. ‘Aflaq was born an Orthodox Chrisitian in Damascus and played a major role in securing the unification of Egypt and Syria in the United Arab Republic in 1958. Later, ‘Aflaq moved to Baghdad in 1975.

After the death of Ahmad Michel ‘Aflaq in 1989, the Iraqi government announced that ‘Aflaq had embraced Islam before his death. That announcement elicted no contradiction from any members of his family or friends. The Baathi government also built a tomb for the founder of the Arab Baath Party, but it was largely, if not wholly, destroyed by US forces as part of their effort to uproot the Baath Party from the country. Iyyad ‘Aflaq said that he had learned that his father’s grave had been completely dug up and destroyed by the American occupation forces.

Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.

“Islamic State of Iraq” orders puppet regime to free women prisoners or it will kill nine captive puppet police and soldiers it holds.

In a dispatch posted at 7:34pm Makkah time Monday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance group the “Islamic State of Iraq” announced that it had detained nine puppet police and puppet army troops and demanded that the US and its puppet regime set free all women prisoners it is holding.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported Reuters as saying that the “Islamic State of Iraq” organization had issued a communique´ saying that its soldiers had detained nine puppet army and police personnel, some of them of high ranks.

In a video accompanying the communique´, four men in puppet police uniforms could be seen crouching while five officers could be seen standing behind them and on the wall in the background was the flag of the “Islamic State of Iraq.”

In its communique´, “Islamic State of Iraq” gave the US-installed puppet regime 72 hours to comply with the Resistance group’s demands and free all its female prisoners, hand over the puppet officers involved in the rape of the Iraqi woman Sabirin al-Jannabi, and also hand over the officers responsible for the massacres of Sunnis in the northern Iraqi city of Tall ‘Afar.

In March the “Islamic State of Iraq” abducted 14 puppet policemen in Diyala Province and issued the same demands on the US-run Iraqi regime. The regime ignored the demands and the bodies of the 14 puppet police personnel were later found dead.

Babil Province.
Al-Hillah.

US admits American soldier killed in al-Hillah.

In a dispatch posted at 9:08pm Baghdad time Monday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military had admitted that one US soldier had been killed in an airborne landing on a house in al-Hillah, 100km south of Baghdad, early on Monday morning.

The AMSI reported that in the course of those combat operations, the American force came under small arms fire and that one US soldier was killed.

US forces carried out an airborne landing on a house in the al-Jam‘iyah area of Baghdad early Monday morning. A puppet police source said that the American attack took place just hours after the Iraqi Resistance mounted a barrage on the US consulate set up in the Babil Tourist Hotel in al-Hillah. The witness said that US forces landed in a helicopter, searched the home of a state employee, and then left, having arrested no one.

An-Najaf Province.
An-Najaf.

Tension builds between rival pro-American Shi‘i sectarian militias.

In a dispatch posted at 9:15pm Makkah time Monday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that informed sources in Iraq reported that the rival Shi‘i sectarian militias the Jaysh al-Mahdi of Muqtada as-Sadr and the Badr Brigades of the so-called “Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI)” headed by ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim had ordered a mobilization of their forces in the aftermath of internecine fighting between the two groups in an-Najaf last Friday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported an Iraqi source as saying that the Shi‘i sectarian followers of Muqtada as-Sadr had carried out several armed attacks on supporters of SCIRI, despite calls by other members of the pro-American Shi‘i “Iraqi National Alliance” bloc to avoid open fighting.

For their part the sources report that SCIRI forces had also carried out searches, arrests, and assassinations in the homes of Muqtada as-Sadr supporters in the city of ad-Diwaniyah, al-Basrah, al-‘Amarah, and an-Nasiriyah, actions that deepened the crisis situation between the two main Shi‘i sectarian collaborators with the American occupation.

Sources said that the Muqtada as-Sadr organization feel that SCIRI is attempting to secure its total control over the puppet regime’s security forces, as evidenced by a declaration issued two days ago by the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” expelling 15,000 members of the puppet police on charges of “administrative corruption,” and taking part in murders and abductions. Since most of the 15,000 are members of Muqtada as-Sadr’s Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, the Sadrist camp has concluded that SCIRI’s ‘Abd al-‘Azizi al-Hakim is attempting to seize total control over the puppet security forces.
