The source said that the car bomb had been parked near the puppet “Ministry of towns and public works” located near the ar-Ruwwad junction in al-Mansur went off as employees were leaving the puppet “Ministry” building.

The source indicated that the blast damaged nearby buildings in addition to inflicting casualties − the number of which was expected to rise.

The AMSI reported that the US issued a statement saying that two US Marines were killed in a Resistance attack in al-Anbar Province on Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:40pm Baghdad time Sunday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot and killed First Lieutenant Hatim ‘Uthman of the puppet police command for al-Karakh in Baghdad in an attack that took place in his home in the al-Jihad neighborhood of Baghdad.

AMSI reported that a detachment of Resistance men stormed the puppet police officer’s home and shot him to death with light arms. A source in the puppet police claimed that the man’s six-year-old son was also wounded in the attack. The source added that the Resistance men withdrew from the area after the attack and eluded apprehension.

US seals “Green Zone” for three hours Sunday following reports that explosives had been planted inside the top-security area.

In a dispatch posted at 7:40pm Makkah time Sunday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces sealed off the top-security area around the Republican Palace − the district dubbed the “Green Zone” by the Americans − on Sunday after receiving reports that explosives had been planted inside the zone.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported puppet Iraqi security sources indicated that the US closed the “Green Zone” for three hours after hearing that bombs and explosives had been brought into the “Zone.”

Mysterious car bomb explodes in al-Bayya‘ market before noon Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a mysterious car bomb that had been parked on 20 Street in the al-Bayya‘ district of southwestern Baghdad exploded before noon on Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 30 people had been killed and 80 more wounded in the car bombing.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that many Iraqis were driving victims to hospitals in their private vehicles and that the facades of nearby buildings had been blown off. Many cars that had been parked in the market area were destroyed by the force of the blast.

Mafkarat al-Islam noted that no group had taken responsibility for the mysterious attack that targeted a crowded market rather than US or puppet troops or security officials − as is the practice of the Iraqi Resistance.

US strikes Sadr stronghold in Baghdad following infighting between Jaysh al-Mahdi and Badr Brigade Shi‘i sectarian allies of US.

In a dispatch posted at 10:44am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US aircraft struck numerous neighborhoods in the Baghdad district of Madinat ath-Thawrah (nicknamed “Madinat as-Sadr” since the US occupation) on Saturday night.

The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that the American air raid hit the districts numbered 21, 22, 26, and 79 in “Madinat as-Sadr,” a stronghold of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, which is loyal to the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr. The witnesses said that the American attack resulted in several victims and damaged a number of houses in the areas stricken. As of the time of reporting, those areas were also still surrounded by US occupation troops.

The “Madinat as-Sadr” area has been tense since clashes that took place on Friday between the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia and its Shi‘i sectarian rival the Badr Brigades − the armed wing of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI). Similar fighting between the two Shi‘i sectarian militias, both of which collaborate with the US occupation, took place in the Shi‘i holy city of an-Najaf at the same time.

In a dispatch posted at 10:36pm Baghdad time Sunday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military had announced that its forces had carried out joint raids with the puppet Iraqi army forces in the “Madinat as-Sadr” area, killing 10 sectarian gunmen and finding a large quantity of heavy weapons and a torture chamber.

The AMSI reported the US military as saying that the torture chamber had apparently been used by “militias supported by Iran.” The Americans said that US forces blew up the chamber, fearful that it might contain caches of weapons or secret hiding places.

AMSI reported that eight to 10 Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen had been killed in battles that erupted in the course of the American sweep through the Baghdad district. A US spokesman added that more than 150 mortar rounds had also been found hidden in a building in the “Madinat as-Sadr” area. The Americans said they also found numerous bombs and explosives in what they admitted was a very serious arsenal.

Salah ad-Din Province.
Samarra’.

Resistance car bombers blast police buildings in Samarra’, signaling start of attack.

In a dispatch posted at 12:42pm Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that two Iraqi Resistance car bombers detonated explosives-laden vehicles by the puppet “Emergency Police” and the puppet police administration building in Samarra’, about 120km north of Baghdad.

The AMSI reported that five people were killed in the attacks and another eight wounded, among them puppet policemen, according to a puppet police source, who added that the number of casualties was likely to rise.

In a dispatch posted at 9:49pm Baghdad time Sunday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the two car bomb attacks had apparently been timed to coincide with an Iraqi Resistance mortar barrage.

The AMSI reported a provincial puppet police source as saying that the first car bomb in fact targeted the motorcade of the puppet police chief, Colonel Jalil ad-Dulaymi, killing six puppet policemen.

The second car bomb, the source said, exploded just a short time later in front of the entrance to the puppet police administration building, killing six more puppet policemen and wounding a number more.

The source at a joint US-puppet Iraqi police headquarters in Tikrit, about 180km north of Baghdad, said that dozens of Resistance fighters then attacked the Samarra’ puppet police administration building, sparking a battle that raged for an hour.

AMSI reported Agence France Presse (AFP) as saying that two US troops were also wounded in that battle and that six wounded puppet policemen were evacuated with severe wounds to an American medical facility.

AMSI reported the AFP as saying that an American Humvee pursued the Resistance fighters until they blasted it with an armor-piercing rocket-propelled grenade. Meanwhile another Resistance fighter wearing an explosive belt blew himself up by a military vehicle causing material damage to it.

Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.

US admits eight American troops killed Resistance bomb attacks in Diyala Province and Baghdad Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:35pm Makkah time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military occupation authorities issued a statement in which they admitted that six more US troops had been killed along with a journalist in an Iraqi Resistance bomb attack in Diyala Province Sunday evening.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two more Americans had earlier been reported killed in Iraq on Sunday. The correspondent noted that the US statement gave no indication as to the nationality of the journalist who was killed along with the six American troops, nor any further details about the incident, other than to note that two other US troops were wounded in the same Resistance bombing.

Earlier Sunday, the US admitted that two American troops had been killed and two more of them wounded in a Resistance bomb attack in Baghdad, making a total of eight US soldiers whom the American command declared dead.

Babil Province.
Al-Haswah.

Mysterious bomb strikes marked in al-Haswah early Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:29pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a mysterious bomb exploded in a popular market the al-Haswah area, 33km south of Baghdad on Sunday morning.
