Resistance fighters catch US Marine force in trap on bridge in al-Hadithah late Tuesday night, sparking ferocious fight.
In a dispatch posted at 12:15am Makkah time just after midnight Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting had broken out between Iraqi Resistance men and US Marines on the Hajlan Bridge in the city of al-Hadithah, about 270km northwest of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Hadithah and the nearby town of al-Haqlaniyah as saying that a battle in which all types of weapons were being used was raging. US Apache helicopter gun ships were taking part and the sounds of huge explosions were shaking the city.
One resident who lives near the Hajlan Bridge reported that the Resistance men had caught a force of Marines in an ambush, striking them from two sides. US helicopters, he said were still trying to free the Americans from the trap that the Resistance had sprung upon them, but the battle was still under way at the time of reporting.
Local residents reported that mosques in the area were broadcasting the al-Bayyat Mosque, the al-Hadithi Mosque, and the city’s Old Mosque had turned on the lights on their minarets and were broadcasting prayers and cries of Allahu akbar! (“God is greates!”) to encourage the Resistance fighters battling the Marine occupation troops.
Al-Fallujah.
Car bomb by popular restaurant in al-Fallujah wounds two midday Tuesday.
In a dispatch posted at 9:01pm Baghdad time Tuesday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a car bomb exploded near a popular restaurant in the city of al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, wounding two civilians.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying Tuesday that an explosives-packed car that had been parked near a popular restaurant in the middle of al-Fallujah blew up after noon on Tuesday, wounding two civilians and heavily damaging the restaurant.
The source said that the reason for the small number of casualties was that customers in the restaurant noticed the car and regarded it as suspicious and left the establishment before the explosion.
Resistance bomb kills five puppet policemen in al-Fallujah Tuesday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 8:00 GMT on Tuesday, Quds Press reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghad Tuesday afternoon.

Toll from double car bombing near restaurant in ar-Ramadi Monday rises to 20 killed; 38 wounded.
In a dispatch posted at 9:01pm Baghdad time Tuesday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the toll in the double car bombing near a restaurant at Kilometer 5 near ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad, on Monday had risen to 20 killed and 38 more wounded − many of those in grave condition.
In a dispatch posted at 9:48pm Makkah time Tuesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the car bombs were targeted on a puppet police patrol that was in a market at the time of the blast.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Lieutenant Colonel Sa‘di ad-Dulaymi of the puppet police as saying that a Resistance attacker driving an explosives-packed car slammed into the puppet police patrol that was passing through the middle of the popular market in the al-Bu Faraj area of eastern ar-Ramadi.
Lieutenant Colonel ad-Dulaymi said that the blast left 58 people dead or wounded, seven of those puppet policemen and the rest civilians, some of those women and children.
Sources in ar-Ramadi told Mafkarat al-Islam that the occupation imposed a curfew on the area and mosques used their loudspeaker systems to issue appeals for blood donations for the civilian victims.
Abu Ghurayb.
Three American troops reported killed in Abu Ghurayb Tuesday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 4:34pm Makkah time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US foot patrol near the az-Zaytun drinks establishment in the az-Zaytun neighborhood of Abu Ghurayb, about 30km west of Baghdad, at about 7am local time Tuesday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of az-Zaytun as saying that three American troops were killed in the explosion. They also described seeing two wounded Americans being carried on stretchers to an ambulance.
The Shaykh of the ad-Dallal Mosque in Abu Ghurayb declared that the Americans were on their way to arrest people coming from morning prayers in the area, but that the bomb attack forced them to return to their base in Abu Munaysir, outside the administrative boundaries of Abu Ghurayb.
Baghdad.
Savage bombardment of al-Furat neighborhood in second day. Dozens of civilians reported dead or wounded in area blockaded by puppet troops, Shi‘i sectarian gunmen.
In a dispatch posted at 11:57pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that dozens of people have been killed or wounded in a violent mortar and rocket bombardment that has been directed at the civilian population of the al-Furat neighborhood of southwestern Baghdad since Monday. As of the time of reporting, the bombardment was still under way.
The AMSI reported that the barrage had destroyed numerous houses and killed or wounded dozens of civilians.
AMSI noted that the neighborhood had been under blockade by puppet regime forces acting together with Shi‘i sectarian militias. The gunmen and puppet regime troops have prevented any of the food aid to be delivered to the residents of the area on the ground that they are all “terrorists.”
Resistance bomb rips through joint US-puppet Iraqi army patrol in south Baghdad’s as-Sayyidiyah Tuesday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 9:11pm Makkah time Tuesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the southern Baghdad district of as-Sayyidiyah on Tuesday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who were near the ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a nearby road went off by a passing joint patrol of American and puppet Iraqi troops. The blast killed or wounded at least nine US troops.
Eyewitnesses said that the patrol was arranged according to a newly adopted method whereby a column will be made up of Americans and Iraqi puppet troops mixed together with two Iraqis between each American soldier. The entire patrol was made up of between 15 and 20 troops, the one at the front and the one at the rear of the column being an Iraqi puppet soldier.
The witnesses said that the casualties from the bomb blast were, accordingly, both American soldiers and Iraqi puppet troops. The bomb was detonated by remote control just as the column was walking over the explosive device.
A source in the Iraqi puppet police reported that immediately after the blast, the Americans stormed into the sanctuary of a mosque and into several homes nearby. They put their wounded and dead American soldiers in one of those houses until vehicles could arrive to evacuate them from the area. The US troops left the wounded Iraqis lying in their blood on the ground for a full hour, the witnesses said, until an Iraqi puppet army patrol arrived to pick them up.
Shi‘i sectarian torture murder spree continues: 15 more victims’ bodies found in 24 hours.
In a dispatch posted at 8:54pm Baghdad time Tuesday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi puppet police had found 15 bodies dumped in various parts of Baghdad during the previous 24 hours.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that most of the victims were bound and blindfolded and showed signs of having been tortured before being shot to death. Torture is a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-backed puppet security and military services of the puppet regime.
The source said that the puppet police transported the bodies to the Forensic Medicine morgue for identification.
Local residents beat back armed attack by Shi‘i sectarian gunmen and puppet “Interior Ministry” troops in south Baghdad suburb late Tuesday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 3:36pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that about 10 people were killed − four of them children − when Shi ‘ sectarian militia backed by puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” forces launched an assault in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah late Tuesday morning.
The AMSI reported eyewitnesses in the area as saying that the joint force of sectarian militiamen and puppet “Interior Ministry troops attacked the neighborhoods of al-Wadi, at-Tu ‘mah, al-Mahdiyah, and others at about 11am local time Tuesday morning. Local residents rose to defend themselves and confront the attackers.
The local defenders destroyed eight of the vehicles of the Shi‘i sectarian attackers, killing or wounding the gunmen inside.
The assault by the puppet forces and sectarian militias was repulsed by the local defenders, who cautioned, however, that the situation was fluid and that the attack was likely to be repeated. It was also possible that the local residents would be the target of an American campaign of mass arrests in response to their having defended themselves against the sectarian gunmen and puppet regime forces.
Resistance attacks workers building wall around Sunni al-A‘zamiyah district of Baghdad Tuesday.
In a dispatch posted at 4:15pm Makkah time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that armed Iraqis attacked a US military vehicle that was engaged in building a wall to partition the predominantly Sunni district of al-A‘zamiyah from the rest of the country − a project ordered by the US occupation authorities as part of efforts to split Iraq on sectarian lines. Although it has been reported that the US authorities called off the project under objections from local people, the work on the wall is in fact still continuing.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the attack wounded four of the Asian workers employed by the US military and disabled a US crane used to erect cement barriers.
The source said that the attack came from the east − the area that separates the district of al-A‘zamiyah from as-Salikh. It was not known whether there were any American casualties in the attack.
Thousands of residents of al-A‘zamiyah took to the streets Monday to protest the American plans to wall them off from the rest of Baghdad and the country, prompting the US and puppet Iraqi regime to claim that the wall is only a “temporary security measure” to prevent Resistance attacks.
Bomb destroys US minesweeper in eastern Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 11:58 GMT on Tuesday, Quds Press reported that a bomb went off in eastern Baghdad, destroying an American mine-sweeping vehicle.

The blast destroyed a US vehicle that is supposed to detect bombs for disposal. The vehicle was seen ablaze and it was believed that some of the US personnel would also have at least been wounded in the attack.
After the attack, US forces quickly sealed off the area as American helicopters flew in to prowl the skies overhead.

In a dispatch posted at 9:35 GMT on Tuesday, Quds Press reported that the toll from the first bomb near the Iranian embassy on Tuesday was two killed and four wounded. Quds Press reported that the second bomb produced still more casualties but the precise number was not available at the time of reporting.
In addition, Quds Press noted, the bombs inflicted damage on surrounding buildings, including the building housing the Iranian Embassy itself. No information on the extent of casualties in the embassy, if any, was available.

A British military spokesperson admitted that an attack had occurred and asserted that there were no deaths but did not release further information on the number or nature of injured troops.

In a dispatch posted at 4:25pm Makkah time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a source in the Religious Information and Rulings Board (Hay’at ad-Da‘wah wa-al-Ifta’) in Baghdad had revealed that the Shi‘i sectarian clerical authorities, collectively known as al-Hawzah, had agreed to demolish the oldest Sunni mosque in the city of an-Najaf and put up a large hotel in its place.
The historic Sunni place of worship is to be destroyed to provide accommodations for Iranian and other Shi‘i pilgrims coming to the Shi‘i holy city on visitations.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the source as saying that the Mosque of ‘Amr ibn al-‘As is one of the largest Sunni mosques in an-Najaf. It was abandoned three years ago when Shi‘i sectarian militias so terrorized Sunni families living in the old city that they fled.
Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah.
Resistance attacks on US, British, other occupation forces on the increase in southern Iraq as Sunni, Shi‘i Resistance groups form unified front to fight the occupation, Iranian hegemonism.
In a dispatch posted at 7:44GMT on Tuesday, Quds Press reported that observers of the situation in southern Iraq have noticed an increase in the armed attacks targeting the foreign occupation forces operating in that part of the country. Eleven British soldiers have been killed since the start of April and many others have been wounded. There have also been more attacks on the other occupation forces, such as Australians and Poles, who also serve the US in Iraq.
Quds Press reported that observers not that these Resistance attacks have nothing to do with the prominent Shi‘i sectarian political parties active in the southern Iraqi cities such as the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) or Muqtada as-Sadr’s Jaysh al-Mahdi militia. These attacks are being carried out by the Iraqi Resistance, according to Shaykh Ibrahim al-Hassan, a member of the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq in the city of al-Basrah. Shaykh al-Hassan says that the members of the Resistance groups come from different backgrounds. Many are the patriots who have taken credit for some of the attacks. These are fighters who are not linked to any particular religious denomination.
The az-Zarkah incident in an-Najaf on 28 January 2007, when tribesmen battled puppet troops, is well known, Shaykh al-Hassan said, but the puppet regime has twisted up the account of that incident. “They pretend that there was a terrorist group there, but there were no terrorists; they were only members of Arab tribes who rose up against the occupation and against the policy of the puppet government,” Shaykh al-Hassan told Quds Press.
Armed Resistance groups are carrying out attacks virtually on a daily basis in southern Iraq: rocket attacks target British bases in al-Basrah, for example. Quds Press has learned that these are being carried out by Sunni Resistance groups, and for that reason the British occupation forces are carrying out numerous “security operations” against predominantly Sunni areas.
One of the largest Iraqi Resistance groups, the Army of the Mujahideen, which is very active in central and western Iraqi cities, issued a communique´ on the Internet a few days ago taking responsibility for an attack on a British patrol in al-Basrah that killed four British troops and their Iraqi translator.
Puppet police reports indicate that a bomb on Monday night went off by an Australian detachment near an-Nasiriyah, wounding a number of the Australians and several puppet Iraqi soldiers who were traveling with them.
The puppet police also has reported that a bomb went off near Karbala’ on Monday, killing two US troops and wounding several puppet Iraqi troops who were with them, Quds Press noted.
Southern Iraqi is witnessing a growing number of Resistance operations despite efforts by the puppet regime to portray the south as largely a quiet garden where no Resistance activity takes place.
On 21 April Internet websites carried a Declaration signed by 15 Iraqi Resistance organizations and announcing an alliance of Sunni and Shi‘i Jihadi Resistance organizations in southern Iraq. The aim of the alliance is to carry out operations against the foreign occupation. The declaration indicated that the organizations had resolved to unite their efforts under the umbrella of a large common front that they have called the Popular Front for the Iraqi Resistance. The declaration noted that the Front would remain open to other groups that share their aim of Resisting the occupation to join.
Abu ‘Abdallah ad-Dawsari, one of the field commanders of the “Brigades of the Freemen of the South” Resistance organization, said that the Popular Front alliance of Sunni and Shi‘i Resistance groups has several aims. “The first of our aims is to make the southern front the equal of the western, northwestern, and central fronts in Iraq in the fight against the foreign alliance. Our efforts are also dedicated to trying to stop the Iranian penetration into Iraq that is coming in under the cover of the occupation forces. We are also trying to arouse the zeal o the Arab tribes in southern Iraq, who are no less patriotic and Iraqi than the tribes in the rest of the country, even though the nature of the repression practiced by the religious parties on them obscures the extent to which they reject the occupation.”
Exclusive sources have told Quds Press that the Resistance in southern Iraq is being led by well known Arab tribes such as the as-Sawa‘id Tribe, Al Fatlah, Al Hajjam, al-Bu Muhammad, al-Khaza‘il, al-Hawatim, and other Arab tribes whose members are taking part in attacks after four years of US occupation of Iraq and of the control of Iraq’s cities by political parties that treat the Arab tribes as aliens in their own land.
Declaration of the Popular Front for the Iraqi Resistance.
The following declaration appeared on the aliraqnews.com website on Saturday, 21 April 2007.
The victories in the field that are piling up every day in our country will have far reching results on all levels: in the Arab world, the region, and the world, and on America specifically. Therefore we see it trying to cook up and market all kinds of plans aimed at enveloping the Resistance, robbing it of its accomplishments, and halting its triumphant march. This is the explanation for the feverish efforts by American diplomats and officials of the occupation and its tails.
Victory in Iraq, thanks be to God the Almighty, has become an accepted fact that the enemy is soon to recognize. The defeat of the Zionist-American project has become a matter of time and then the region and the world will hear the thunder of as it falls. Thus, militant patriotic unity is a safety valve and balm for the people against the threat of sectarianism.
With that in mind, w,e groups of jihadi organizations operating in Iraq that by the grace of God have made the occupiers taste all sorts of humiliation and suffering and have fought with virility, audacity, and courage, declare the unification of our ranks in a comprehensive open front that we have called, after relying on God, by the name of the Popular Front for the Iraqi Resistance. We have drawn up our goals, made clear our means, unified our slogans, and reunified our forces so as to stand with the rest of our brothers in the fighting jihadi groups, the organizations, and associations that reject the occupation, its plans and agendas, taking the stand of heroes who fight in defense, hand in hand until victory is attained, by the will and grace of God.
Aware of the extent of responsibility resting on our shoulders we will keep the door open before all those who see the correctness of our path, the truth of our goals, and the soundness of our means to join us in the battle for liberation and for building an independent state. In particular we address our appeal to our people in wounded southern Iraq where our fighting brigades have appeared to bring back the glories of their grandfathers in the epic Revolution of 1920 against the British occupation.
Upon God the Almighty we rely, for He is the best of patrons and the best of supporters.
