Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Fallujah.

US aircraft kill five civilians in raids near al-Fallujah Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:41pm Baghdad time midday Wednesday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US aircraft attacked houses and other buildings belonging to villagers near al-Karmah on the pretext that they believed they contained weapons. The attack left five civilians dead and four more wounded.

The AMSI reported that the Americans also arrested 26 villagers in the course of their raid Wednesday morning.

Ar-Ramadi.

US admits three more Marines killed in al-Anbar Province Monday.

In a dispatch posted at 9:42am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US Defense Department admitted on its website that two Marines had been killed in al-Anbar Province on Monday, 16 April. The US forces in Iraq had made no announcement of those deaths.

Earlier, however, in a dispatch posted at 9:34am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military had admitted that one other Marine had been killed under “obscure circumstances” in al-Anbar Province.

The AMSI reported that the US announcement said that the Marine died during combat operations somewhere in al-Anbar Province on Monday, 16 April. The US statement said, however, that the Marine had not been killed by “hostile fire” and that the death was under investigation.

Baghdad.

Puppet authorities report numerous civilian casualties in unexplained bomb attacks Wednesday.

In dispatches posted at 2:17pm and 5:10pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that more than 30 civilians had been reported dead and over 50 reported injured in three bombings that took place in the Baghdad districts of al-Karradah, ash-Shurjah, and Madinat ath-Thawrah.

One mysterious bomb exploded aboard a passenger bus on al-Jumhuriyah Street near the ash-Shurjah Market at the al-Amin junciton in the ash-Shurjah area of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding five more in an attack that took place Wednesday afternoon.

The AMSI reported that the explosion also damaged a number of nearby shops.

A mysterious car bomb exploded by al-Muzaffar Square in Baghdad’s al-Karradah district after noon on Wednesday, killing 10 local people and wounding 15 more, the puppet police told AMSI. A puppet police source said that the blast occurred near the ‘Abd al-Majid Hospital in al-Karradah. Buildings around the scene were also damaged. In the late afternoon searches for victims were still underway and the final casualty count had yet to be determined.

In a dispatch posted at 9:42pm Baghdad time Wednesday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that 95 people had been killed and about 94 more wounded when a bomb went off in the Madinat ath-Thawrah section of Baghdad. Madinat ath-Thawrah, a stronghold of followers of pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr, was nicknamed “Madinat as-Sadr” after the US occupation in 2003.

The AMSI reported Wednesday night that a puppet regime expert had said that the blast came from an explosive device, bombs, and a quantity of high-explosive TNT, and said that after the main explosion, other bombs also went off. In addition to the dead and wounded in the Sadr movement stronghold, 14 civilian cars were also destroyed the puppet authorities claimed.

Quds Press reported that the blast came from an explosives-laden car that had been parked on a main street in the “Madinat as-Sadr” area. Eyewitnesses said that some old buildings in the area had collapsed as a result of the powerful blast.

Two puppet policemen killed in Resistance car bomb attack Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:33pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance fighter drove a car bomb into a puppet police patrol in the ‘Awayrij industrial area to the south of Baghdad at midday Wednesday.

The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the car bomb killed two puppet policemen and wounded three more of them in addition to damaging several nearby buildings.

Mortar shells land in west Baghdad Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:48am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that three mortar shells landed in the al-‘Amil neighborhood in western Baghdad near the highway on Wednesday morning. At the time of reporting there was no information regarding the nature or extent of casualties, if any.

Resistance group reports US Humvee destroyed in Baghdad’s ar-Ridwaniyah district Tuesday.

The Iraqi Resistance group the Jaysh ar-Rashideen reported in a dispatch posted on its Internet website Tuesday that its fighters had detonated a bomb by a US Humvee in Baghdad’s ar-Ridwaniyah district, disabling the vehicle and killing the troops aboard.

Resistance group blasts puppet troops in Baghdad’s al-Ma‘alif district with mortar fire on Tuesday afternoon.

The Iraqi Resistance group the Islamic Army of Iraq reported in a dispatch posted on its Internet website at 4:26pm Wednesday afternoon Baghdad time that its fighters had fired nine 82mm mortar rounds at a concentration of puppet Iraqi army troops in the al-Ma‘alif section of Baghdad at 4pm local time Tuesday afternoon 17 April.

Resistance sharpshooter kills puppet “National Guard” Tuesday morning.

The Iraqi Resistance group the Islamic Army of Iraq reported in a dispatch posted on its Internet website at 5:04pm Tuesday afternoon Baghdad time that one of its sharpshooters had killed a puppet “Iraqi National Guard” soldier at a checkpoint in the southern Baghdad district of as-Samrah at 8am Tuesday morning 17 April. A second puppet “Guard” was wounded in the attack.

Twenty-five more bodies found in Baghdad Tuesday, as Shi‘i sectarian torture murder spree continues.

In a dispatch posted at 9:49am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that patrols of the Iraqi puppet police had recovered the bodies of 25 more murder victims strewn about various streets in US-occupied Baghdad on Tuesday.

The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that most of the victims had obviously been tortured and then shot to death. Torture is a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-backed puppet security and military services of the puppet regime. The bodies were taken to the Forensic Medicine morgue for identification.

Resistance fighters blast puppet troops in Baghdad with mortars Sunday.

The Iraqi Resistance group the Islamic Army of Iraq reported in a dispatch posted on its Internet website at 4:29pm Wednesday afternoon Baghdad time that its fighters had fired three heavy 120mm mortar rounds and four 82mm mortar rounds into a concentration of puppet Iraqi army troops in the al-Ma‘alif area of Baghdad at 1pm local time, Sunday, 15 April 2007.

Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.

Civilian motorist shot dead near Ba ‘qubah midday Wednesday.

In a dispatch posted at 2:17pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that unknown armed men opened fire on a car carrying civilians in the area of Hibhib, south of Ba‘qubah − which is 65km northeast of Baghad at midday Wednesday.

The AMSI reported a medical source as saying that the attackers opened fire with automatic weapons on a car in which two civilians were riding, killing the driver and wounding his companion. The injured man was taken to the city hospital for treatment.

Al-Khalis.

Resistance mortars blast puppet army camp Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:16pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi Resistance pounded a puppet Iraqi army camp near al-Khalis with mortars Wednesday morning.

The AMSI reported that at least five mortar rounds landed near the camp in a barrage that the Resistance followed up with a light arms attack. Afterwards all main roads to the area were closed.

Babil Province.
Al-Mahmudiyah.

Two puppet policemen killed in Resistance attack in al-Mahmudiyah Wednesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 2:17pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a puppet police patrol in al-Mahmudiyah, 25km south of Baghdad, after noon on Wednesday.

The AMSI reported that the attack killed two of the puppet policemen and wounded two more patrolmen in addition to damaging one of their vehicles.

At-Ta’mim Province.
Al-Huwayjah.

Bodies found in al-Huwayjah.

In a dispatch posted at 3:36pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that puppet police found three bodies in the village of ad-Dawudiyah near al-Huwayjah, southwest of Kirkuk at midday Wednesday.

The AMSI reported a puppet police source in al-Huwayjah as saying that local people reported the bodies belonged to men who had been abducted two days earlier.

Kirkuk.

Resistance attacks puppet regime judge in Kirkuk Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:48am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a judge survived an assassination attempt in the northern city of Kirkuk on Wednesday morning.

The AMSI reported the deputy director of the puppet police in the area as saying that Resistance fighters opened fire at a judge in the 1st of March district in the middle of the city as he headed to work at 8:30am local time Wednesday morning. The source said that the judge’s bodyguards, one of whom was wounded in the attack, returned fire.

Ninwa Province.
Al-Qayyarah.

Puppet police official’s motorcade attacked.

In a dispatch posted at 3:36pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance fighter wearing an explosive belt blew himself up near the motorcade of Brigadier General ‘Ali ‘Ata Malluh, the chief of the puppet police in the town of al-Qayyarah in southeastern Ninwa Province.

The AMSI reported a press spokesman for the puppet police of Ninwa Province as saying tat the blast took place in al-Qayyarah and wounded seven civilians. The spokesman for the puppet authorities made no mention of casualties among the puppet police.

Al-Mawsil.

Unexplained shooting.

In a dispatch posted at 3:36pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the puppet police spokesman for Ninwa Province announced that two brothers were killed in al-Mawsil midday Wednesday when armed men opened fire on them.

The AMSI reported that the two brothers, who worked in the al-Karamah neighborhood in the industrial city area of northeastern al-Mawsil, were attacked by armed men in a car who opened fire on them while they were at work in their car repair shop.

Tall ‘Afar.

Resistance attacks puppet forces in Tall ‘Afar area Wednesday at dawn.

In a dispatch posted at 11:48am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance forces attacked headquarters of puppet army and police in the Hasan Koy and citadel areas of the Tall ‘Afar district, 55km west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq, with light and medium weapons and mortars at dawn Wednesday.

The AMSI reported the Tall ‘Afar puppet police chief as saying that the puppet forces returned fire, adding that one puppet soldier and one puppet policeman had been wounded in the attack and taken to hospital for treatment.

Al-Qadisiyah Province.
Ad-Diwaniyah.

Bomb reportedly destroys US tank in ad-Diwaniyah Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 9:49pm Baghdad time Wednesday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a bomb exploded by a US tank on Salim Street in ad-Diwaniyah, about 120km south of Baghdad, on Wednesday morning.

The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the bomb exploded by an American Abrams tank, completely destroying it. Immediately afterwards, US and puppet Iraqi troops began an extensive campaign of searches in the area and arrested a number of local people. Eyewitnesses on the scene said that the troops aboard the tank were killed and that American helicopters evacuated them from the scene.

US bombards villages in ad-Diwaniyah as American security crackdown on Jaysh al-Mahdi continues.

In a dispatch posted at 10:31am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US occupation forces had renewed their bombardment of two villages in the area of ad-Diwaniyah.

The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Americans had subjected the villages of ar-Rawajih and al-Sumyaniyah to violent artillery bombardment at dawn on Wednesday morning following attacks on the American “Camp Echo” on Tuesday.

The witnesses said that the American attack seriously damaged a number of houses in the villages, causing residents to flee to other villages in the area. It was the third time that those villages had been bombarded by the American forces during the last four days.

In other news, the US forces and their puppet allies surrounded the neighborhoods of al-Iskan and an-Nasij and arrested 40 “suspects” on Wednesday, following the attacks on “Camp Echo” the day before. The arrests came in the context of the US “security plan” currently being implemented in ad-Diwaniyah.

Meanwhile the puppet police in the city reported finding the body of a puppet policeman who had been abducted three days earlier. A puppet police source announced that the body of Azhar al-Kar‘awi was found in the al-Wahdah al-‘Arabiyah neighborhood. He had been shot to death. The source noted that the same puppet policeman had been the target of an assassination attempt two weeks before his abduction.

US “Camp Echo” in ad-Diwaniyah struck by rockets, mortar rounds Tuesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 9:34am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that shelling of the US “Camp Echo” base in ad-Diwaniyah, 120km south of Baghdad, was resumed at 3pm local time Tuesday afternoon.

The AMSI reported that 13 Katyusha rockets and mortar shells blasted into the American camp setting fires and sending black smoke billowing into the sky.

US forces have been engaged in roundups of supporters of pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr in ad-Diwaniyah for some days.

Al-Basrah Province.

Bombings target puppet officials in al-Basrah as Shi‘i infighting for control of southern Iraqi city continues.

In a dispatch posted at 1:16pm Baghdad time Wednesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that two bombs exploded near the homes of the deputy chief of the provincial governing council and one of the puppet council’s members.

The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the first bomb went off in front of the home of Nasif al-‘Ibadi setting one of his personal cars on fire and destroying a part of his home. A second bomb exploded in front of the home of Khaz‘al as-Sa‘idi, a member of the puppet council, destroying part of his house. No casualties were reported.

The attacks come against the background of Shi‘i infighting in the city after the al-Fadilah Party − to which the puppet governor of al-Basrah belongs − pulled out of the dominant Shi‘i sectarian coalition on 7 March 2007. Since then, partisans of the two major Shi‘i sectarian groupings − the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) − and the movement loyal to Shi‘i sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr have been attempting to drive out the governor and take power in his place.
