US air strikes destroy houses near al-Fallujah at dawn Sunday, five killed.
In a dispatch posted at 1:47 GMT Sunday, Quds Press reported that five people were killed in a US air strike on the al-Fuhaylat area southwest of al-Fallujah at dawn on Sunday.
Quds Press reported a puppet police source as saying that US aircraft struck a number of houses in the middle of the town at 5am local time Sunday morning. The American air raid completely destroyed three houses and killed five civilians.
After the attack, US forces swarmed through the area, carrying out house-to-house searches.
Quds Press noted that the US was carrying out extensive attacks in al-Anbar province in an effort to pursue and subdue the Iraqi Resisance movement. In most cases, Quds Press noted, the US air strikes on areas believed to be Resistance positions just result in civilian casualties.
Resistance ambush kills puppet soldier in al-Fallujah midday Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 5:13pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed a puppet Iraqi army patrol in the Old Market area of al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad, at 12:30pm local time midday Sunday.
The AMSI reported a puppet security source as saying that the attack left one puppet soldier dead and two more of them wounded. The source said that the puppet troops responded to the attack by firing indiscriminately at a group of civilians, wounding five of them, including one woman and two children, who were evacuated to al-Fallujah Hospital.

Puppet police force claims to have assassinated local leader of al-Qa‘idah.
In a dispatch posted at 12:28 GMT on Sunday, Quds Press reported that the puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council” police claimed that they had assassinated a commander of al-Qa‘idah in al-Anbar Province on Sunday.
Quds Press reported a source in the puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council” as saying that gunmen of the puppet council police had shot and killed Shaykh Isma‘il Mahmud, a leader of al-Qa‘idah in the middle of ar-Ramadi on Sunday. The source asserted that Mahmud was wearing civilian dress and was identified to the puppet forces by local residents.
The puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council” is headed by a tribal figure named Sattar Abu Rishah who is backed by the US occupation forces and their puppet regime in Baghdad.

US, puppet troops raiding homes in al-Amiriyah attack pregnant woman, causing miscarriage.
In a dispatch posted at 6:10pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a pregnant Iraqi woman suffered an aborted birth after being attacked and beaten by a combined force of US and puppet Iraqi army troops in the western Baghdad district of al-‘Amiriyah at dawn on Sunday.
The AMSI reported that US and puppet forces stormed into the home of Widad Khamis Wahib and her five-year-old son at dawn Sunday. Wahib suffered a severe beating and scrapes at the hands of the occupation troops and their allies who also destroyed furniture, stole cash and gold bracelets, and made off with the family car. The trauma caused Widad Wahib’s pregnancy to be aborted when she went into labor and delivered a premature fetus.
US says two soldiers killed in “two-helicopter accident” north of Baghdad Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 11:43am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military announced that two soldiers had been killed and five more wounded in an “accident” in which two British helicopters collided in midair southwest of the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji on Sunday morning.
The AMSI reported a US communique´ as saying that according to preliminary reports, the crash of the two helicopters was the result of a midair collision and not related to any Resistance ground fire. The American statement indicated that an investigation would be carried out.
Five dead, dozens wounded in double bombing in al-Karradah Sunday evening.
In a dispatch posted at 10:08pm Baghdad time Sunday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that five people had been killed and 27 more wounded in an explosion in Baghdad’s al-Karradah district Sunday evening, the second within a few minutes of each other.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the first bomb, which went off in the same area, had wounded four civilians.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi puppet police reported that a mortar barrage on the ash-Sha‘b district of Baghdad on Sunday evening wounded four civilians.
Resistance bomb targets puppet police patrol in Baghdad Sunday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 5pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb went off by a puppet police patrol near the al-Masbah junction in central Baghdad after noon on Sunday..
The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the blast destroyed a “Coaster” passenger bus, killing five people and wounding 10 more, in addition to inflicting damage on nearby buildings. The official spokesman offered no information on casualties among the puppet police patrolmen.
A report carried by the United Arab Emirates-based news site Moheet reported the puppet police as attributing the explosion on the bus to a man wearing an explosive belt. That puppet police report, which made no mention of a patrol in the area, claimed that six people had been killed in the bus blast.
Two mysterious car bombs target popular market in Baghdad Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 11:10am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that five people were killed and 20 more wounded on Sunday morning when two car bombs exploded in the ash-Shurtah ar-Rabi‘ah district of Baghdad.
The AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the first car bomb went off in the popular market in ash-Shurtah ar-Rabi‘ah and a short while later a second bew up at the entrance to the market.

In a dispatch posted at 9:48am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a bomb exploded in the al-Mikanik neighborhood of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Saturday evening.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the blast wounded four civilians.
The source said that another bomb went off in the ash-Shu‘lah neighborhood of northwestern Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding two more of them.
US arrests 20 puppet Civil Defense troops Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 9:48am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US occupation forces arrested 20 members of the puppet Civil Defense Directorate in the al-Baladiyat neighborhood of eastern Baghdad on Saturday. A puppet police source said the reason for the arrests was unknown.

Resistance bomb destroys Humvee near Yathrib.
In a dispatch posted at 10:08pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US patrol in the Yathrib area, 80km north of Baghdad.
The AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a road between Yathrib and Balad, to the north, blew up by a passing American patrol. The source said that the explosion destroyed a Humvee. US forces immediately sealed off the area, making information on the nature or extent of US casualties unavailable AMSI reported.

Bomb targets home of puppet “Scorpion Brigade” soldier in al-Hillah Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 9:48am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in front of the house of a member of the puppet “Scorpion Brigade” police in the al-Iskan neighborhood of al-Hillah, about 100km south of Baghdad, on Saturday evening.
The AMSI reported a source in the puppet “Scorpion Brigade” as saying that the house sustained damage and two members of the man’s family were wounded and later taken to al-Hillah Surgical Hospital.

Puppet troops kill Iraqi civilian in al-Mawsil Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 11:10am Baghdad time Sunday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that puppet Iraqi army troops shot and killed an Iraqi civilian in al-Mawsil on Saturday afternoon.
The AMSI reported a press spokesman for the puppet army in Ninwa Province as admitting that the victim was shot in the chest “by mistake” by a puppet soldier in the al-Intisar neighborhood of northeastern al-Mawsil. The spokesman gave no further details regarding the incident, adding only that the victim’s body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Morgue.

Turkey launches military maneuvers near Iraqi border following threats by US-backed Kurdish puppet leader Barzani.
In a dispatch posted at 6:24pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Turkish military were carrying out maneuvers near the Iraqi border just days after the Chief of Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Yasar Buyukanit, expressed the view that Ankara needed to carry out a military incursion into northern Iraq to clean out “Kurdish Labor Party” (PKK) gunmen who had been given asylum and aid in the American-established Kurdish separatist enclave in northern Iraq.
The AMSI reported that the Ibrahim al-Khalil Pass, known as the al-Khabur Pas on the northern Iraqi border with Turkey, was not far from where the Turkish army, including an the Silopi Armored Brigade of Shirnak Province, were holding maneuvers.
AMSI quoted the Turkish Ceyhan News agency as saying that the Silopi Armored Brigade was just 2km from the Iraqi border.
Thousands of security troops and village guards had deployed at strategic points in the mountains of Ghabar and Judi together with the armored forces. Commandoes from the western provinces and helicopter forces have also joined in the maneuvers.
Agence France Presse (AFP) reported Sunday that tensions between the US-backed Kurdish separatists and Turkey rose last week after Mas‘ud Barzani, the American-installed “President” of the Kurdish separatist enclave in northern Iraq, “threatened to fan unrest in Turkey’s Kurdish-populated southeast if Ankara continues to oppose Kurdish claims on the oil rich ethnically volatile Iraqi city of Kirkuk.”
AFP reported that “Turkey claims that thousands of Kurds have moved into Kirkuk to change its demography ahead of a referendum on Kirkuk's future status, scheduled for the end of the year, and has called for the postponement of the vote.”
On 13 January 2007, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a census had revealed that the largest population group in the oil-rich city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq consisted of Arab Sunnis.
The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet “Center of Joint Cooperation” as saying that the total number of residents of Kirkuk was now 840,000 according to the census. Arab Sunnis were the largest population group in the city, followed by Kurds, then Shi‘ah, and finally Turkomans.
The source told Mafkarat al-Islam that according to the census, Arab Sunnis accounted for 47 percent of the city’s total population. Kurds accounted for 35 percent. Shi‘ah and Turkomans together made up 18 percent of the population.
The source said that the Iraqi puppet regime had asked the US occupation authorities to turn over to it the documents and authentication of the census and pressed the Americans not to “rush to release” the results of the census on the grounds that it would aggravate ethnic and sectarian strife there.
Meanwhile, Kurdish separatists have been hard at work trying to drive out Arabs and other non-Kurds while increasing the Kurdish population of the oil center.
On 5 June 2006, the patriotic Iraqi website albasrah.net reported that Kurdish “Iraqi Ambassadors” at some embassies of the puppet Iraqi regime in Europe had been waging a campaign to issue Iraqi passports to Kurds from Turkey, Iran, and Syria in an effort to boost the Kurdish “population” of occupied northern Iraq, in order to facilitate the partition of the country along sectarian and ethnic lines.
The website reported that the pro-American Kurdish separatist political parties issue Kurds from other countries forged Iraqi personal identity cards, indicating their place of birth as “Kirkuk.”
The forged identity cards are then sent to the Kurdish “Iraqi ambassadors” who issue Iraqi passports on that basis.
AlBasrah.net reported that those puppet “Iraqi ambassadors” who are not Kurds have refused to issue passports based on the fake IDs. As a result the Kurdish separatists simply redirect the applicants. Non-Iraqi Kurds resident in Germany get passports from the “Iraqi Embassy” in Austria. Al-Basrah.net reported that the “Iraqi Embassy” in Vienna issues dozens of Iraqi passports every day to Kurds who take them back to Germany.
The aim of the campaign to issue Iraqi passports to Kurds from Syria, Turkey, and Iran is to prepare for a referendum set by the puppet regime for late 2007 in which the fate of the province of Kirkuk is to be determined. In the run up, the Kurdish separatists hope to create as many “Kurds from Kirkuk” as possible while pursuing ethnic cleansing of Arabs on the ground in order to seize the oil-rich area for the Kurdish separatist mini-state that they hope to set up under American and Zionist protection.
The Kurdish drive has impelled the shaykhs of the Arab tribes of al-‘Ubayd, al-Jabbur, and al-Hawatimah − all descended from the ad-Dulaym tribe in al-Anbar Province − to threaten to go to war if the city were split off and given to the Kurds.
While Iraqi Arabs are opposed to the partition of their country and the expulsion of tens of thousands of Arabs from their homes in Kirkuk, the Turkish government is concerned that if a Kurdish separatist enclave can annex Kirkuk and the attendant oil resources of northern Iraq, it will vastly increase the threat of a Kurdish state arising on Iraqi soil and of Kurdish separatist attacks inside Turkey. Turkey is also concerned over the fate of the city’s Turkish-speaking Turkoman population, a group that along with the Arabs faces ethnic cleansing at the hands of the pro-American Kurds.
AFP reported that at a press conference on Thursday, Turkish Chief of Staff General Buyukanit described Barzani’s threat to fan unrest in Turkey as “unacceptable.” AFP reported that General Buyukanit implicitly accused the United States of emboldening the Iraqi Kurdish separatist leader. “We all know who has spoilt (Barzani),” the General said.
Sedat Laciner, the head of the Ankara-based think-tank USAK, told the AFP that General Buyukanit’s statement was “the first time in Turkish history that an army chief has challenged the United States without giving names.”
“Turkey has long waited for the United States to do something about PKK rebels, but Barzani’s remarks were the last straw,” he added, according to the AFP report. “We are gradually moving towards a military incursion. Turkey is not bluffing.”
The AFP noted that Washington opposes a possible Turkish incursion into northern Iraq. “Certainly that’s an option that everybody should work to avoid,” the American State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Thursday in response to Buyukanit’s remarks.

US aircraft attacks chicken farm near ad-Diwaniyah at dawn Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 5pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that four mortar rounds landed on a farm in the Al Hamad village in the area of ad-Diwaniyah, 120km southeast of Baghad at midday Sunday.
The AMSI reported eyewitnesses in the village as saying that the shells caused no casualties or material damage to buildings. They left a huge crater in the farm field, though. The witnesses said that as of that time they did not know who had fired the shells or why.
AMSI noted, however, that a US aircraft had struck the ad-Diwaniyah Chicken Farming Project near Al Hamad at dawn on Sunday.
