AMSI reported a source in the puppet police as saying Tuesday that US forces set up a temporary checkpoint in western an-Nu‘aymiyah, where they arrested 15 people. The people were driving their cars on their way into the city and were surprised by the sudden appearance of a checkpoint where there usually was none. But the source said that the Americans took the prisoners off to one of their camps in the city. The US military had issued no statements confirming or denying the story as of the time of reporting.
American armored vehicle reported destroyed when Resistance ambushes US patrol in al-Fallujah, sparking half-hour fire fight Tuesday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 12:05pm Baghdad time midday Tuesday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that Iraqi Resistance men ambushed a US patrol in the al-Hasy area, 3km south of al-Fallujah, on Tuesday morning, sparking a battle.
AMSI reported local residents as saying that the Resistance attacked the Americans in the al-Bu Khamis village east of al-Hasy, sparking a half-hour battle in which various medium and heavy weapons were used. The witnesses said they had no information on the nature or extent of US casualties but indicated that three Resistance fighters were killed and four others wounded. For their part, the Americans had issued no confirmation or denial of the incident as of the time of reporting.
In a dispatch posted at 11:36 GMT Tuesday, Quds Press reported that Resistance men armed with light and medium weapons had attacked the American patrol, destroying one American armored vehicle. Afterwards, the Americans closed off the area and US helicopters were seen prowling the skies overhead.

In a dispatch posted at 12:05pm Baghdad time midday Tuesday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed an Iraqi puppet army soldier in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad at 9:30am Tuesday morning. AMSI reported a puppet security source as saying that a Resistance sharpshooter opened fire on a checkpoint manned by US and puppet troops at the southern entrance to the city. The source said that the sharpshooter killed one puppet soldier with a direct shot to the head. Afterwards, US and puppet troops closed the checkpoint.
Unidentified victim of torture, murder found in al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 12:05pm Baghdad time midday Tuesday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a puppet police patrol found the body of an unidentified man near a garbage dump in the al-‘Askari neighborhood of eastern al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad. AMSI reported that the man, who appeared to be in his thirties, had been tortured and shot to death. The body was taken to al-Fallujah General Hospital.
Torture is a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-backed puppet security and military services of the puppet regime. AMSI noted that the discovery of unidentified bodies had just recently become a common occurrence in al-Falluah, dozens of them having turned up in the last few days. It was during this time that the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia resumed extensive activity throughout much of the country following a period during which the Americans carried out a temporary and superficial “crackdown” on the organization, whose gunmen have been a major prop of the US occupation since 2005.
Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 12:17pm Baghdad time midday Tuesday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military had officially admitted that four more US troops had been killed, three of them in Baghdad, and one in western Iraq’s al-Anbar Province. No communique´s had yet been issued confirming reports of a death of one US soldier in ad-Diwaniyah an a second in Balad on Sunday, 8 April. Earlier, however, prior to the admission of the four soldiers killed Tuesday, the American command had issued a statement, saying that 41 US troops had died so far in April.
At least 10 reported killed in fierce battle as neighborhood defenders fight Americans, puppet troops following execution of two local youths in al-Fadl neighborhood of Baghdad.
In a bulletin posted at 10:05am Baghdad time Tuesday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that at that moment a violent battle was raging between residents of the predominantly Sunni al-Fadl neighborhood of Baghdad on the one hand and US and puppet “National Guard” troops on the other. The fighting broke out after the US troops executed two neighborhood youths in front of local residents, claiming that they were Resistance fighters.
AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that at 5am Tuesday morning, US and puppet troops began raids in the al-Fadl neighborhood, searching and arresting a large number of people. Two neighborhood youths were executed, prompting local people to attack the Americans and their puppet allies. Witnesses said that at that time, US helicopters were bombarding the area as US ground forces used tear gas and sowed panic among the people who were demonstrating their opposition to the US occupation. Local people were calling on the international community and ambulance teams to intervene on their behalf.
In a dispatch posted at 11:26GMT Tuesday, Quds Press reported that about 10 Iraqis had been killed and more than 20 others wounded in the fighting in the al-Fadl district that was still under way at that hour. Witnesses stated that one American helicopter had been shot down in the course of the battle with the neighborhood defenders, a claim confirmed by puppet police sources. The Americans denied the report that one of their helicopters had been shot down, however, saying that one helicopter had indeed caught fire, but had been able to land in an American base.
Witnesses told Quds Press that the fighting erupted at dawn Tuesday and that US F-16 fighter bombers were still striking various places in the neighborhood, preventing ambulances from getting in to tend to the injured or evacuate the bodies of the dead from the streets. Explosions shook the outskirts of the area, but the precise cause of the blasts was unknown, Quds Press related.
Quds Press noted that the predominantly Sunni district was frequently a scene of clashes between US and puppet troops on the one hand and Iraqi defenders on the other. In a dispatch posted at 10:34pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US forces had admitted that 16 of its troops had been wounded in the fighting in the al-Fadl neighborhood of Baghdad’s ar-Rusafah district on Tuesday.
