US locks down cities of al-Anbar Province Monday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:28pm Baghdad time Monday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that US forces had surrounded and blockaded the cities in al-Anbar Province since 10pm Sunday night. The cities remain locked down and US troops have closed all the bridges on roads leading to the urban areas, in which curfew have been proclaimed.

AMSI reported people of ar-Ramadi, Hit, al-Fallujah, al-Hadithah, and al-Qa’im as saying that US forces threatened to use live ammunition against any moving body that approaches them, according to the US announcement broadcast in the streets of each of those cities.

Puppet police and puppet army troops deployed in the streets and lanes of the cities and the skies overhead filled with swarms of US helicopter gun ships and unmanned spy planes, prowling the airspace at extremely low altitude.

The actions coincided with a 24-hour ban on motorized traffic in Baghdad on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the US occupation of the Iraqi capital on 9 April 2003. In other cities freedom of movement has been allowed but under the supervision of US troops an the puppet army and police.

The ban took effect Monday morning and would remain in place until Tuesday morning.

A spokesman for the puppet “security plan” Brigadier General Qasim ‘Ata al-Musawi, told the press that the ban affected vehicles and cycles in all parts of Baghdad starting Monday at 5am and ending at 5am Tuesday morning.

The ban reflects fears of Iraqi Resistance attacks as Americans celebrate the fourth anniversary of their occupation of the Iraqi capital which took place on 9 April 2003.
