He said that the fish in the lake had gnawed away at much of the body, devouring its toes and fingers. The soldier was Black and his body had received gunshot wounds.

The source said that a second US Marine was wounded in the attack.
The source said that the explosive apparently consisted of a hand grenade that had been fixed to the door bolt and blew up when the door was opened. US forces were still searching the abandoned shops in the area at the time of reporting, in an operation that had been going on since Tuesday night.

Iraqi sources said that residents of the al-Ghazaliyah area of Baghdad reported that US troops arrested Sami Khalid, a veterinarian and guard dog trainer, on charges of training dogs to attack US troops. The Americans killed eight dogs of different breeds that were in his veterinary clinic near a meeting hall in the area.
Baghdad man says US troops planted explosives in his car, tried to get him killed.
In a dispatch posted at 6:24pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi accused American troops of planting explosives in his car and trying to get him killed in the Palestine Street area of eastern Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Husayn Jawwad ‘Abd al-Hasan, a 54-year-old Shi‘i Iraqi and food-product distributor, as saying that American troops stopped his Kia car on the road to the ar-Rashid camp in southeastern Baghdad on Monday and carried out a meticulous search of the vehicle that took them 10 minutes. “They emptied out a number of cardboard boxes that were in the car and then told me to drive off,” ‘Abd al-Hasan said.
“After I got to Palestine Street,” ‘Abd al-Hasan went on, “near the Turkoman Recreation Center, I parked my car near one of my clients to deliver a part of my cargo. It was then that I was shocked to find a bomb, weighing about 20kg and inscribed with a number.”
‘Abd al-Hasan said that the shopkeeper immediately called the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir),” who arrested him. “They arrested and held me for 12 hours investigating me,” ‘Abd al-Hasan recalled, adding, “ they put my car in a big empty square and waited for the bomb to go off.”
‘Abd al-Hasan said that the translator working with the Americans at the checkpoint had asked him where he was heading and ‘Abd al-Hasan said he was going to “Madinat as-Sadr,” thinking that the Americans don’t feel suspicious about people from that predominantly Shi‘i area and don’t closely search cars going there. He said that because of that story, however, he had survived. He explained that the time needed to go from the ar-Rashid camp to “Madinat as-Sadr” was an hour or an hour and 15 minutes at least. But he got to Palestine Street in just half an hour and therefore the bomb had not yet exploded when it was discovered.

Local residents told Quds Press that US helicopters flew in after the attack and dropped fares over groves and farm fields near the base in an attempt to find the attackers.
Relentless attacks on the American base have already forced the US troops to depopulate a number of areas around the vicinity of the camp in an attempt to clear them out and forestall attacks from there. As of the time of reporting, no American statement on the latest attack had been issued.

Karbala’.
Twenty-two shepherds robbed kidnapped from Karbala’ area Wednesday morning.
In a dispatch posted Wednesday, Quds Press reported that a group of armed men abducted 22 shepherds from an area west of the southern city of Karbala’ on Wednesday morning.
Quds Press reported a source in the Karbala’ puppet police as saying that armed men wearing puppet army uniforms and driving government cars attacked the ar-Rafi‘ area 15km west of Karbala’ and abducted shepherds in the area. They took the herdsmen towards the area of ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, according to the puppet police source, suggesting that the captors were Sunnis abducting Shi‘i herdsmen.
But eyewitnesses in the area where the abduction took place said that the armed men, whom they also described as wearing puppet army uniforms and driving puppet army cars, took the captive shepherds towards Karbala’.
One witness said that the abductors took the herdsmen prisoner and also stole the shepherds’ vehicles. He said that they packed up the sheep as well and drove them off with the abducted shepherds.
