Ar-Ramadi.
Five US troops reported killed in Resistance bombing in ar-Ramadi.
In a dispatch posted at 4:13pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a large Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by US Zeal troop transport in ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Mal‘ab area of the city as saying that a bomb that had been planted near a road into al-Mal‘ab went off by as US reinforcements were arriving in the area to search houses near the American camp there.
The correspondent reported that the Zeal that took a direct hit in the explosion was loaded with American troops. The blast sent body parts of the troops flying around the area. Witnesses said that five American soldiers were killed and three more were wounded in the blast.
Afterwards, the Americans closed off the area and fired gunshots up at homes surrounding the area for 10 minutes.
Al-Fallujah.
Gunmen suspected of ties to al-Qa‘idah or Iran kill veteran Iraqi fighter pilot in al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 8:03pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that gunmen had shot and killed former Major General Mahmud Ghannam, a prominent pilot in the Iraqi Air Force prior to the US invasion of the country, and a veteran of the war against Iran. The murder took place early Friday afternoon as General al-Ghannam was leaving the mosque following Friday congregational prayers on al-Fallujah.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who were among the congregation at the mosque as saying that the victim was killed near the mosque just after he emerged. Four armed men stopped him and shot him in the head, the witnesses said.
The witnesses said that the gunmen then fled the scene in two cars, an Opel and a Kia. General al-Ghannam was one of the most prominent pilots in the war against Iran, in which he commanded a squadron of Sukhoi fighter planes. At the time of his death he was 60 years old.
Relatives of al-Ghannam accused the al-Qa‘idah organization of organizing the murder, saying that the killers were men well known to residents of al-Fallujah as members of al-Qa‘idah. Al-Ghannam was know for his opposition to al-Qa‘idah’s ensconcing itself in al-Fallujah, as they also did in ar-Ramadi, Tall ‘Afar, and other cities.
At the same time, however, some have accused Shi‘i sectarian militias of being behind the murder, since such agents of Iran have reportedly murdered a large number of Iraqi officers, airmen in particular, who took part in the war against Iran.
Resistance rockets blast US base in al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 1:10pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces blasted the US as-Simak base in al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad, with a violent rocket barrage, sending plumes of smoke rising into the sky.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that US troops immediately surrounded the al-Jumhuriyah neighborhood and the area of the market and began searching those areas and some of the shops in them, looking for weapons and “suspect.” It was unknown whether they made any arrests or not.
Explosion rocks US base near al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 5:55pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an explosion rocked the US base in the area of Sinn adh-Dhiban, shaking the entire area during the night of Thursday-Friday. The reasons for the blast were unknown.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the villages of al-Bu Mar‘i, and al-Halabisah, located near the base, said that the blast appeared to come from inside the American facility and that it was so powerful that it could be heard throughout the village. After the blast, smoke rose over the base and American helicopters appeared in the area firing flares over the base and then landed.

Resistance hits US base in ‘Anah with heavy mortars.
In a dispatch posted at 4:13pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance fired a mortar barrage of three heavy 120mm mortar rounds at the US base in the middle of ‘Anah, about 300km northwest of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the shells set off explosions and dsent clouds of smoke billowing over the American base − which was the ‘Anah Youth Center before the American invasion in the spring of 2003.
Al-Hadithah.
Resistance gunfire hits US Apache helicopter near al-Hadithah.
In a dispatch posted at 4:03pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters’ gunfire struck a US Apache helicopter gunship in the Jubbah area, a village in the district of al-Hadithah, about 270km northwest of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported villagers in the area as saying that the helicopter was hit by the gunfire and was observed trying to land outside the village. Light smoke was coming from the rear of the aircraft. The villagers did not know whether the Apache ever crashed or landed safely because US troops surrounded their village.

American tank kills Iraqi shopkeeper west of Baghdad for no apparent reason.
In a dispatch posted at 1pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops killed an Iraqi shopkeeper in Khan Darri, just west of Baghdad, for no apparent reason.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in Khan Darri as saying that one of the shopkeepers in the area was doing some repairs to his store located on the az-Zaydan road when an American tank positioned on the az-Zaydan Bridge fired a rocket at the shop. The residents said that the attack immediately killed the shopkeeper and wounded a person who happened to be nearby.
The witnesses went on to say that then US troops arrived at the wreckage of the shop and began firing their guns randomly into the establishment and the area around it, causing the other shopkeepers in the area to close up and flee the area.
Puppet governor of “Madinat as-Sadr” slightly wounded in Thursday attack.
In a dispatch posted at 12:54pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that armed men attempted to kill the puppet governor of the so-called “Madinat as-Sadr” district of Baghdad, Rahim ad-Darraji, in the al-Habibiyah area of the predominantly Shi‘i district on Thursday.
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the attack killed one of ad-Darraji’s companions, a puppet colonel. Ad-Darraji himself received minor wounds in the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Puppet soldier killed by Resistance sharpshooter in ad-Dulu‘iyah Friday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 4:28pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance marksmen shot a puppet Iraqi army soldier in the ad-Dulu‘iyah area on Friday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the al-‘Alamayn neighborhood to the north of ad-Dulu‘iyah as saying that a group of puppet soldiers was cruising their area looking for Resistance men when one of them was hit in the head and killed by a Resistance sharpshooter’s bullet Friday morning.
Tikrit.
Resistance fighters ambush US patrol in Tikrit.
In a dispatch posted at 1:06pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with rocket-propelled grenades and light and medium machine guns ambushed a US patrol near the grand mosque in Tikrit, 180km north of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance attack completely disabled a US Humvee. No information on the nature or extent of casualties was available, however, because US forces prevented the puppet police from approaching the area after the attack.
Resistance fighters kill puppet major general in provincial puppet police.
In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Makkah time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance men shot and killed Major General Dawud Sulayman, a top official in the administration of the puppet police for Salah ad-Din Province, in an armed attack in the al-Qadisiyah district to the north of Tikrit on Thursday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying tat armed men in a civilian car opened fire on Sulayman killing him and his driver instantly.

Resistance bomb wounds US troops in al-Mushahadah, Friday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 1pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by US troops in al-Mushahadah, north of Baghdad, Friday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the area as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a road in the area went off by an American patrol, moderately damaging a Bradley armored vehicle and wounding two US troops who were inside. US forces then closed off the area.

Ba‘qubah.
US troops wipe out family of five in attack on car in Ba‘qubah Thursday night.
In a dispatch posted at 4:35pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops opened fire on a civilian car driving through Ba‘qubah, about 65km northeast of Baghdad, on Thursday night killing an entire family of five.
The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US troops opened fire with machine guns on a family car carrying a man, his wife, and their three children, killing all five of them. US forces commented on the incident saying that they believed the driver of the car was a “suicide bomber” because another car being driven by a Resistance fighter had exploded at an Iraqi puppet army checkpoint earlier in the day.
Al-Mada’in.
In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a puppet police patrol in al-Mada’in, 25km southeast of Baghdad on Thursday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the Resistance men, riding in a civilian car, opened fire with machine guns on a puppet police patrol in the city, killing two patrolmen and wounding three more of them. The Resistance men then left the scene and the puppet police were unable to apprehend them.
Kan‘an.
Armed attack on two fuel stations in Kan‘an Thursday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that armed men attacked two fuel stations in Kan‘an, 35km east of Ba‘qubah (which is 65km northeast of Baghdad), completely destroying them on Thursday afternoon.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that armed men attacked the two fuel stations in the Kan‘an area shortly before sunset, Thursday. The attackers battled with the guards firing light machine guns. Five of the guards were killed and fire erupted at the stations, burning them to the ground. The attackers then left the scene.

Al-Mahmudiyah.
Resistance forces battle US troops in area of al-Mahmudiyah.
In a dispatch posted at 7:13pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fighting had taken place between Resistance men and US troops in the Shakhkhah area southeast of al-Mahmudiyah, about 30km south of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance men, believed to belong to the Brigades of the 1920 Revolution, had ambushed a US military column in the area. The attack sparked a fierce battle win which two Humvees were destroyed and 10 US troops were killed or wounded.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the US base in the area was also subjected to a fierce bombardment believed launched by the same Resistance organization.

Resistance bomb kills two puppet policemen in Kirkuk.
In a dispatch posted at 4:28pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a local puppet police patrol in Kirkuk, 250km north of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported puppet police witnesses who asked not to be identified as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of Baghdad Road blew up near the fourth bridge in the city as a puppet police patrol was driving past. The blast destroyed one patrol vehicle, killing two puppet policemen inside and wounding two more. The wounded men were rushed to the city hospital for treatment, the corpses were delivered to the Forensic Medical Department morgue.

Al-Mawsil.
Mysterious mortar barrage kills two civilians in al-Mawsil.
In a dispatch posted at 1:06pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that six Iraqi civilians were killed or wounded when mortar shells landed in a residential area to the west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the at-Tanak neighborhood of western al-Mawsil as saying that a number of mortar shells blasted into residential houses in the area. Two people were killed and four more wounded and taken to hospital for treatment. Damage was also inflicted on the buildings.
Resistance fighters gun down puppet police officer in al-Mawsil.
In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Makkah time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters in a civilian car shot and killed an officer in the puppet police force in al-Mawsil.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported puppet security sources as saying that Resistance men killed a puppet police lieutenant in front of his home in the al-Hudaba’ neighborhood where he was standing with his brother. Both men were killed on the spot.
US attack wounds two civilians in al-Mawsil Thursday evening.
In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Makkah time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces bombarded the Industrial District of al-Mawsil on Thursday evening.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the barrage wounded two civilians who were immediately taken to hospital.

Eleven prisoners break out of British-run camp near al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 5:55pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 11 prisoners being held in a facility run by the British in the ash-Shu‘aybah area 20km west of al-Basrah, had managed to escape.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the British acknowledged the escape in a statement distributed to journalists Friday. The statement said that visitors to the prisoners had brought in civilian clothing and that the prisoners were able to shed their prison uniforms and escape in the civilian attire. The British said that the matter was under investigation.
US “Camp Bucca” targeted.
In a dispatch posted at 5:55pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that residents of Umm Qasr, near al-Basrah, had reported that the hear the sound of intense gunfire being directed at the American-run prison “Camp Bucca,” one of the largest US camps in occupied Iraq.
