Ar-Ramadi is a site where the Resistance is particularly active.

Baghdad.
US uses jamming, diplomatic pressure to knock dissident TV station off the air.
In an article published in the Egyptian newspaper al-Misri al-Yawm Monday, Mahasin as-Sanusi reported that the president of the independent Iraqi TV station az-Zawra’ − a station well-known for its broadcast of videos of attacks carried out by the Iraqi Resistance − reiterated his charges that the United States had been jamming his station and was simultaneously pressuring its Egyptian host, Nilesat, not to relay the signal to viewers.
Mish‘an al-Jabburi, the president of az-Zawra’ and a former member of the Iraqi puppet parliament who now lives outside Iraq and opposes the US occupation of his country, charged the management of Nilesat with knuckling under to the Americans. He vowed that he would take the station to court and meanwhile had arranged to broadcast az-Zawra’ via another Arab satellite relay − Arabsat.
Amin Basyuni, the Chairman of the Board of the Nilesat Company, said that his company had been unable to transmit the az-Zawra’ program because the signals were being electronically jammed from some unknown source. Trying to broadcast az-Zawra’ when that station was being jammed could interfere with other stations also being relayed by Nilesat, and therefore it was not possible for the company to continue handling az-Zawra’. Basyuni said that at the present time the source of the jamming was unknown and therefore nothing could be done about it.
Al-Jabburi, speaking by telephone to al-Misri al-Yawm, said that he wasn’t making random accusations at Nilesat. He said that two months ago Nilesat’s engineer Salah Hamzah contacted him and “advised” him personally to “lighten up” in the language used on az-Zawra’ broadcasts. Al-Jabburi said, “he told me literally that there is a technical attack being waged by a hostile party against the station, a party he did not identify, but I believe it to be America.”
Al-Jabburi said that US Secretary of State Condaleezza Rice had called on Congress to agree to shut down the station and that she then discussed the matter with Egyptian officials during her recent visit to Egypt.
Al-Jabburi said that the Americans were targeting his station because az-Zawra’ broadcasts information on the Resistance to the US occupation and publicizes the achievements of the Resistance. He denied that there were any problems with funding for the station between himself and the Egyptian company, saying that he had told Nilesat’s management that he would meet any financial needs that might arise.
In light of the problems, however, al-Jabburi said that he was resorting to Arabsat to relay the az-Zawra’ programming if the matter becomes too difficult to work out with Nilesat. Asked about the possibility that the same situation might then arise at Arabsat, al-Jabburi said that there would be no such problems since Arabsat is owned by several Arab countries that have a positive attitude towards az-Zawra, such as Libya and Saudi Arabia, both of which have supported the station. He pointed out that they own half of the shares in Arabsat.
Al-Jabburi also noted that the Egyptian public’s attitude to the shutdown of az-Zawra’ was diametrically opposed to that of Egyptian officialdom. The Egyptian people have sent in hundreds of letters of support, many offering to donate money to keep az-Zawra’ on the air. It was the officials, he said, who were unable to stand up to American pressure.
Bodies of seven tortured, murdered Sunnis found in Baghdad Monday.

Among the casualties were four Shi‘i religious leaders.
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the car, a Kia sedan, blew up by a center for distribution of Shi ‘ religious books and near the Center for Iranian-Iraqi Cultural Exchange − a facility supervised by Shi‘i sectarian clerics.
The correspondent reported that the blast destroyed the two centers along with 16 other shops and offices. Twenty-six people were killed and 54 wounded, most of those Shi ‘ sectarian militiamen at the Islamic Propaganda Center − an outlet of the pro-American Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) − the group headed by ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim whose 30,000-man Badr Brigade militia took part in the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 and then made up the backbone of the American-established “Iraqi security organs” such as the puppet police, army, and puppet “Interior Ministry.”
The correspondent reported that the explosion also caused extensive destruction on the street in addition to wrecking a number of cars and burning up a large number of Iranian and Lebanese Shi‘i publications.
It was expected that the number of those listed as killed in the bombing would be increasing, since many of those injured in the blast were in serious condition and since there were still bodies under the rubble of buildings.

The sources said that one of the puppet troops was killed in the village of al-‘Armushiyah south of the city, the second was gunned down in the al-Mu‘tasim neighborhood in the southeast of Samarra’, and the last two were shot in the middle of the market in the center of town. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local residents as saying that US forces together with their puppet army allies blockaded ad-Dulu‘iyah once again, preventing everyone from entering or leaving the city after carrying out massive searches there. Local residents feared that the blockade could go on for a long time, since just last month the Americans locked down the city for a full 10 days, completely paralyzing life.
