Four American Marines reported killed when sheep pen blows up over them in al-Qa’im.
In a dispatch posted at 7:26pm Makkah time Sunday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a sheep pen that had been booby trapped by the Iraqi Resistance blew up after American Marines had gone in to search it.
The al-Qa’im correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Marines were searching the pen, which was located in the area outside the village of al-Bu Mahall near al-Qa’im in western Iraq, when the shed exploded, killing four of the Americans. A fifth Marine was severely wounded in the blast, the witnesses reported, and was immediately taken by helicopter to the US military hospital nearby.
At the time of reporting American forces had been surrounding the area where the attack occurred for about an hour, looking for the Resistance attackers who had detonated the bomb by remote control. The US forces believe that the range of the detonator could have been no more than one kilometer and they were therefore coming the fields and houses within a one-kilometer radius in search of the Resistance men. As of the time of reporting the Americans had arrested nine local men.
Ar-Rutbah.
US troops commandeer ar-Rafidayn Bank building in ar-Rutbah, turn it into American headquarters.
In a dispatch posted at 5:12pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces had created a new base for themselves in the city of ar-Rutbah, not far from the Iraqi border with Jordan, when they took over a local branch of the ar-Rafidayn Bank.
The al-Qa’im correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported employees of the ar-Rafidayn Bank in ar-Rutbah as saying that US troops raided their building on Sunday morning and forcibly threw the employees out into the street. The Marines then ascended to the roof and took up sniper positions there. Afterwards, they placed cement and plastic barriers around the building and put up signs warning against anyone approaching the building, and stating that it was now a military installation.
The correspondent reported that the American seizure of the bank took place after 11am Sunday.
Al-Khalidiyah.
Three US troops reported killed in Resistance bombing in al-Khalidiyah Sunday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 4:13pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, a massive Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US armored vehicle in al-Khalidiyah, about 85km west of Baghdad.
The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a bomb that had been planted near the median of the main street in the al-Khalidiyah area went off, disabling and setting fire to an American armored vehicle. Witnesses confirmed that at least three US soldiers who were aboard the vehicle were killed in the blast. At the time of writing, US troops had cut the road to the area where the attack took place.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance men kill two puppet troops in al-Karmah and take their weapons.
In a dispatch posted at 4:13pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters quietly killed two members of the puppet “Iraqi National Guard” north of al-Karmah, about 7km northeast of al-Fallujah on Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the 20 Street area as saying that the Resistance men killed the two puppet “Guards” near the al-Basudah area to the north of al-Karmah. It is in that area that the puppet forces have seized houses originally belonging to local villagers and turned them into their local base. The Resistance men stabbed the puppet troops, took their weapons and then slipped away without the other troops in the area finding out until later. When they did discover their dead comrades, the puppet troops opened fire indiscriminately around the area.
US ends 24-hour lock down of al-Fallujah Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 3:49pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces and their Iraqi puppet army allies opened all the entrances and exits to al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, on Sunday morning, just 24 hours after closing them all.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the city as saying that they endured a terribly difficult day after the forces sealed off the city, forcing people who had been on their way into al-Fallujah to sleep by the side of the road. Those camped along the road had an uneasy night since the behavior of the jittery US troops is always unpredictable and they are liable to open fire on cars of which they are suspicious at any moment.
The correspondent reported that the six entrances to the city were sealed on Saturday and US and puppet troops proceeded to arrest dozens of local people on the pretext that they belonged to Resistance organizations. Then on Sunday, after the conclusion of those mass arrests, the Americans had the city reopened to the world.
Unknown armed men kill five members of family in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah at dawn Sunday.
In a dispatch posted at 2:46pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that unknown gunmen attacked a home in the residential area of ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, 7km southwest of al-Fallujah at dawn Sunday, killing three brothers who belonged to the al-Bu ‘Isa tribe along with their mother and the wife of one of the men.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a medical source in al-Fallujah as saying that the victims were all shot in the head and one of them was still in bed at the time he was killed. The attackers fled the scene immediately.
The situation in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah has been tense following the destruction of the al-Habbaniyah mosque in an apparent sectarian bombing last week.
Al-Hadithah.
Resistance mortars pound US base in al-Hadithah Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 1:19pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired three mortar shells into the US base located in the middle of al-Hadithah, about 270km northwest of Baghdad at 7am local time Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the shells struck the US base near the al-Haqlaniyah Bridge sending clouds of smoke billowing into the sky.

Pro-Iranian sectarian gunman found dead in Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 4:23pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces shot and killed a member of the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi in southeastern Baghdad on Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the al-Mashtal area of southeastern Baghdad as saying that Hasan ar-Rukabi, also known as Abu Sajjad, a member of the Jaysh al-Mahdi, was found dead in his sister’s house where he had gone into hiding from US occupation troops recently.
Residents said that Abu Sajjad was found dead along with the corpse of his sister’s husband in the al-Mashtal area. Dozens of machine gunshots had raked his body. Abu Sajjad was known for having taken part in numerous sectarian crimes against Sunnis in various parts of Baghdad, in particular ar-Rusafah.

Resistance bomb targets provincial puppet police commander.
In a dispatch posted at 2:49pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by the motorcade of Major General Hamad Namis al-Jabburi, the commander of the Salah ad-Din Province puppet police, near Bayji, about 200km north of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a road north of Bayji went off by the motorcade, completely destroying one vehicle and killing two of al-Jabburi’s private bodyguard. Three more of the guards were wounded in the attack. The sources said that al-Jabburi himself, who was on his way back to his residence in ash-Sharaqat at the time, survived the attempt unhurt.
Yathrib.
Resistance blasts US-occupied base near Yathrib with heavy mortars Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 12:45pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired Iraqi Resistance forces fired five heavy 120mm mortar rounds at the US-occupied al-Bakr Airbase − which the Americans call Camp Anaconda − near Yathrib, about 70km north of Baghdad at about 8am local time Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in Yathrib as saying that the shells scored direct hits on the base, setting off violent explosions, igniting fires, and sending columns of smoke and dust rising into the sky.
The witnesses said they could hear warning sirens wailing inside the base as US helicopters flew in over the area.

Resistance battles puppet “National Guard” near Sulayman Bak Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 5:06pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that large-scale and fierce fighting raged between Resistance men and puppet “Iraqi National Guards” near Salman Bak, about 175km north of Baghdad, on Saturday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source who asked to remain anonymous as saying that battles raged on Saturday as Resistance men battled members of the puppet Fourth Division of the puppet army. The source said that the fighting on the Baghdad-Kirkuk Highway lasted for more than half an hour as the sides exchanged fire using medium and light machine guns.

Iraqi Resistance commander sentenced to death escapes prison in al-Mawsil.
In a dispatch posted at 2:17pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet Provincial Council for al-Mawsil announced on Sunday that an Iraqi Resistance commander who had been sentenced to death by shooting escaped from a prison in the northern Iraqi city.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a press release issued by the local puppet authorities as saying that Ahmad al-‘Umar, a commander in the Resistance who had been sentenced to death, managed to escape from prison just a day before he was to be executed.
The puppet authorities accused al-‘Umar of assassinating a commander of the pro-American Kurdish separatist Kurdistani Party and of detonating a bomb by US occupation troops.
The press release declared that an investigation was under way into how al-‘Umar managed to get out of prison.
Resistance ambushes puppet police in al-Mawsil Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 1:29pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting erupted between Resistance men and puppet police in the northern city of al-Mawsil Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police command for Ninwa Province as saying that the gun battle broke out between a group armed with light and medium machine guns and a puppet police patrol in the az-Zuhur neighborhood of northeastern al-Mawsil on Sunday morning.
The source said that the Resistance men opened fire on the patrol, killing two puppet policemen and wounding three more of them. The patrolmen returned fire but the Resistance men had already left the scene. Ambulances then arrived to ferry the bodies of the dead puppet policemen to the morgue at the Forensic Medicine Department, and to take the wounded men to the local hospital.
Puppet police official in al-Mawsil assassinated.
In a dispatch posted at 12:36pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that armed men stormed the house of a member of the Iraqi puppet police in the Bab Shams area of northern city of al-Mawsil and killed the man.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a commander in the Ninwa Province puppet police as saying that armed men went into the house of ‘Abdallah Salim an-Najdi, a member of one of the directorates of the provincial puppet police and shot him to death.

Resistance blasts US base in ad-Diwaniyah with heavy mortars Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 2:53pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five heavy 120mm mortar rounds into the US military base in the southern ad-Diwaniyah area, about 120km southeast of Baghdad on Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of ad-Diwaniyah as saying that the resistance blasted the US camp known by the English name of “Echo” located 5km south of ad-Diwaniyah. The witnesses said that two of the shells struck the landing pad for helicopters inside the camp and the three other shells hit the private quarters of the US troops igniting a fire there.

British soldier severely wounded in rocket attack.
In a dispatch posted at 4:39pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that one British soldier was severely wounded when a British base set up in the presidential palaces in the al-Husayn area, 8km south of al-Basrah, came under fire in an area that British troops raided in search of “gunmen.”
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that as the British were leaving the area an RPG-7 rocket propelled grenade was fired at them and struck one of their vehicles, wounding a British soldier extremely severely. Pools of his blood were visible on the ground. The witnesses said that the British fired back but were unable to hit the attackers. They then took their wounded comrade off to one of their bases in the city.
