The correspondent for Quds Press reported ambulance driver Ahmad Khalaf al-Jaw‘ani, who evacuated the bodies of the victims, as saying that US forces opened fire on the GMC taxi that was carrying a man, his wife, and their five children to Jordan. The Americans apparently thought the vehicle might have been a car bomb.
According to identity papers on the bodies, the head of the family was one Isma‘il Muhammad al-Hayyali, a professional resident in the Baghdad district of as-Salikh, who was fleeing with his family from Shi‘i sectarian death squad violence to Jordan.
After wiping out the family of seven and their taxi driver on the International Highway near the Fadil al-Kurdi rest stop, the American forces shut down the highway for a whole hour while they cleared away the evidence of their activity. The US troops blocked two media cameramen from filming the scene of their attack and only reopened the highway after the area had been cleaned up.

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the blast was caused by an explosives-laden Mercedes truck. Its deadly cargo was hidden under a layer of white stones as are commonly seen in trucks in the area.
The correspondent reported that the US occupation forces exploited the attack to put on a show of “concern” for the civilians, admitting some of the victims to the exclusive US military hospitals and making sure that Marines were filmed digging bodies out from under the rubble.
Baghdad.
Explosions shake Shi‘i sectarian targets in Baghdad’s al-Karradah and al-Jadiriyah districts Saturday evening.
In a dispatch posted at 12:03am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that following explosions in the Baghdad districts of al-Karradah and al-Jadiriyah on Saturday evening, ambulances raced to the districts, amidst reports that more than 30 Shi‘i sectarians had been killed or wounded by preliminary count.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a spokesman for the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” as saying that no attack had taken place in either location; that the explosions were merely a drill, and a part of the training of Iraqi puppet army forces.
Although the explosions took place in residential areas and the smoke and flames could be seen from neighborhoods quite some distance away, the puppet regime spokesman insisted that there was no fire or smoke in the area.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of place 803 in the area as saying by telephone that puppet “Order Protection Police” were backing up the sectarian gunmen as spread out in the neighborhood in an offensive aimed at driving Sunnis out of the district.
Local residents opened fire on the sectarian attackers who have been engaged in an effort to purge the district since early Saturday morning. Witnesses said that the Shi‘i sectarian gunmen forced many families to leave the area at gunpoint and under humiliating threats.
The correspondent noted that the US and puppet regime forces had prepared the way for the sectarian gunmen to carry out their “cleansing” of Sunni residents. In the framework of the “New Baghdad Security Plan” being implemented by US and Iraqi puppet troops in the capital, the puppet security forces arrested abut 40 men and youths from the Sunni area Friday, severely curtailing the ability of the neighborhood to protect itself from the inevitable sectarian attacks by the Shi‘i gunmen.
The correspondent reported that the puppet “Order Protection Police” − whose ranks are largely made up of Shi‘i sectarian militiamen − were behaving as if they were on a mission to “take revenge” upon the residents of al-‘Amil who, like other Sunnis, raised loud protests over the rape by the security men of Sabirin al-Janabi, a Sunni girl.
