Az-Zaydi said that the Jaysh al-Mahdi had caused the slaughter of thousands of Sunni Iraqis and had plundered the property of the state. He said: “at one time the Jaysh al-Mahdi had been an Iraqi organization, but today it has become a Persian organization.”

In a dispatch posted at 5:52pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq was the scene of four bomb explosions on Sunday that killed one civilian and slightly wounded four more. Blame for the bombings is being laid on pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militias as being behind the crimes.
The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that local residents note that Shi‘i sectarian militia activity in the city has increased markedly of late and appear aimed at arousing hostility to the Iraqi Resistance among the population in order to drive them into the arms of the puppet “Iraqi government.” The sectarian plot was exposed, however, when Resistance fighters arrested two individuals in the city who were planting bombs in front of a local home. Upon questioning, it became evident that the two were members of the puppet “Iraqi National Guard” and that they were planting bombs in civilian areas in Kirkuk according to orders that were passed down to them, but which originated with the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi‘i sectarian militia.
The correspondent reported that the four bombs that exploded on Sunday had been planted randomly in front of homes of local residents with the aim of turning their sympathies against the Iraqi Resistance. The exposure of Iraqi puppet regime agents as being responsible for such bombings, however, has frustrated efforts to discredit the Resistance.
A dispatch posted by Quds Press later on Sunday reported that 12 people had been killed and about 78 more injured in two more bombings in Kirkuk. Quds Press quoted a puppet police spokesman as saying that a car bomb exploded in the Suzan car lot in the city Sunday evening, killing six civilians and wounding several more. The Islamic News Agency reported eyewitnesses as saying that explosions resounded from within the base, making it possible that ammunition or weapons stored there had begun to explode. The Resistance barrage lasted for some time, the correspondent reported and considerable damage was done to the base facilities.
Later in the day US forces together with their Iraqi puppet army allies raided the village of al-‘Ukayri, south of al-Huwayjah to take revenge on the local population following the attack, the Islamic News Agency reported, and to search for the Resistance fighters who had disappeared shortly after mounting the mortar attack.

Later on Sunday, US forces admitted that the helicopter had been shot down and two Americans had been killed.

The Iraqi patriotic Albasrah.net website reported that the Iraqi puppet police had announced that a battle took place between an armed Iraqi Resistance group and puppet Iraqi government forces backed up by US troops and aircraft. In the course of the battle, which took place in the an-Najaf Provincial Parks, the puppet police said, one American helicopter was shot down.
A source in the provincial puppet security forces said that “unknown armed men estimated to be a force of between 400 and 500 men attacked the [puppet] army in the az-Zarkah area north of al-Kufah.” The attack left four puppet army men dead. Three others were captured and one officer was wounded. The spokesman said that the az-Zarkah area had been surrounded by puppet security forces and the roads from an-Najaf to Karbala’ and from an-Najaf to al-Hillah had been closed.

The Ahmad al-Hasan Group, is Shi‘i organization.
