The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two Resistance bombs that had been planted close to each other exploded simultaneously by an American Humvee, completely destroying it and killing four US Marines who were aboard. A second US vehicle was disabled when all four of its tires were burned.
The correspondent reported that at that moment the Americans had completely surrounded the area where the bombs went off. One vehicle was still burning but the Americans had already extracted the nearly completely charred corpses of their four comrades from the wrecked Humvee.

In a dispatch posted at 2:30pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four 82mm mortar rounds into a headquarters of the Iraqi puppet army in al-Khalidiyah, about 85km west of Baghdad on Thursday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the shells scored direct hits on the headquarters, setting off explosions that could be heard a long distance from the facility and sending plumes of smoke and dust rising into the sky.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance fighters storm puppet “Iraqi National Guard” camp, killing eight “Guards” near al-Fallujah Thursday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 2:35pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters carried out a fierce attack on a camp of the puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in the al-Halabisah district near al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghad on Thursday morning.
The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of al-Halabisah who witnessed the attack as saying that dozens of Resistance men armed with light and medium machine guns and hand grenades assaulted the camp near the new railway bridge in the district. Because their attack was powerful, the Resistance men were able to storm the camp and kill eight Iraqi puppet “Guards,” severely wounding another four of them. The Resistance men destroyed the camp and then withdrew without having suffered any casualties.

In a dispatch posted at 2:43pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol north of al-Hadithah on Thursday morning.
The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the explosion totally disabled a Humvee, killing or wounding all aboard. US forces sealed off the whole area after the attack. For nearly two months the city of al-Haditah has been under a ban on motor traffic.
Rawah.
Resistance bomb destroys US Humvee near Rawah midday Thursday.
In a dispatch posted at 1:56pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by US forces near Rawah, about 315km northwest of Baghdad.
The Rawah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported motorists who were on the public road where the Americans were when the bomb went off as saying that the explosive device, which had been planted on the road between Rawah and nearby ‘Anah, blew up, destroying a Humvee and killing or wounding all the US troops who were aboard it.
Baghdad.
US said planting agents within ranks of Jaysh al-Mahdi sectarian militia.
In a dispatch posted at 7:20pm Makkah time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that informed sources that asked to remain anonymous had disclosed that the American forces had begun to recruit agents for Washington from among followers of the Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi‘i sectarian militia loyal to sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr. The aim of the operation was for the Americans to obtain information and to stay informed of the latest plans of the Jaysh al-Mahdi.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the sources had indicated that the Americans recruited a number of Jaysh al-Mahdi personnel when they were being held by the Americans following US raids on the sectarian militia’s headquarters in the so-called Madinat al-Sadr area of Baghdad. The newly recruited American agents are to be paid a salary and are to receive rewards for information that they convey to their US handlers.
The sources said that one type of information of interest to the Americans is the location of stockpiles of weapons that the Jaysh al-Mahdi maintains.
According to the sources, the Jaysh al-Mahdi executed four members of the Brigade of the Shahid al-Imam as-Sajjad after determining that they had passed information to the Americans leading to the capture of Abu Mutayyim as-Sadri who is charged by the US with leading one of the Shi‘i sectarian death squads not controlled by American forces.
The Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, run by Muqtada as-Sadr, a Shi‘i cleric loyal to Iran’s “conservatives,” is seeking to extend its regional hegemony and step into the shoes of the American occupation in Iraq as it leaves under the blows of the Iraqi Resistance. The US, on the other hand, which has made use of Shi‘i sectarian militias such as the Badr Brigades ミ close to Iran’s pro-western “liberals” ミ and the Jaysh al-Mahdi in its drive to occupy and control Iraq is now attempting to reduce Iranian influence in the country.
Russia demands action from Iraqi puppet regime, US occupation forces following shooting incidents targeting the Russian Embassy in Baghdad Wednesday evening.
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in occupied Baghdad was the target of gunfire twice on the evening of 10 January 2007, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail L. Kamynin announced in Moscow Thursday.
Kamynin announced that the Russian Embassy had been struck by small arms fire but that there were no casualties so far as they were aware. Material damage had been done to the building housing the Russian diplomatic mission however.
Kamynin said that necessary measures to provide for the safety of Russian diplomats and personnel were being taken.
According to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, on Thursday the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow summoned the ambassador of the US-installed Iraqi puppet regime A. Mustafa and the Charg d’Affairs ad interim of the United States, Daniel Russell, in connection with the attack on the Russian Embassy in Baghdad.
The representative of the Iraqi regime was told that Russia demanded that Iraqi authorities take immediate steps to reinforce the defenses of the diplomatic mission and to prevent a repetition of such incidents in the future.
The Russian side told the American representative that the United States was directly responsible for ensuring safety to diplomatic personnel in Iraq. Accordingly, the Russians told Russell, the American side must strictly carry out this responsibility. Immediate measures for the protection of the Russian Embassy and Russian diplomats were required from the head of the US forces in Iraq.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that similar messages were delivered through diplomatic channels in Baghdad and Washington.
On Thursday, the Speaker of the Duma, the lower house of Russia’s parliament said that Moscow did not support the decision of US President George W. Bush to send more troops to Iraq.
On Wednesday Bush announced an escalation of US involvement in the occupation of Iraq, including an increase of US occupation forces by more than 20,000 men and a doubling of “civilian support” for the American military presence.
In Moscow on Thursday, Boris Gryzlov, the Speaker of the Duma and head of the pro-Kremlin United Russia Party said that “Russia has never supported a military presence in Iraq and does not welcome plans to increase the military contingent.”
Salah ad-Din Province.
Ad-Dujayl.

In a dispatch posted at 2:12pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi puppet police patrol in ad-Dujayl, about 55km north of Baghdad, on Wednesday.
The ad-Dujayl correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a road in central ad-Dujayl went off by a puppet police patrol, damaging a patrol vehicle and wounding one puppet policeman who was taken to hospital for treatment.
Babil Province.
Al-Mahmudiyah.
In keeping with new US “security plan” for Baghdad, American helicopter gun ships escort Shi‘i sectarian puppet troops to Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 10:25pm Makkah time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in keeping with the new American “security plan” for Baghdad, the vanguards of Shi‘i sectarian puppet troops of the American-installed regime were moving up from southern Iraq. The troops have been seen driving through al-Mahmudiyah on their way to Baghdad, some 30km to the north.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Shi‘i sectarian forces are advancing under air cover from US helicopter gun ships. The correspondent reported that dozens of vehicles belonging to the Scorpion Brigade, the al-Husayn Brigade, and the al-Karrar Brigade of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” ミ notorious for their involvement in sectarian kidnapping, torture, and murder of Iraqi Sunnis ミ are advancing towards Baghdad.
The correspondent reported that US helicopter gun ships were providing air cover and lighting the way during the night for the advancing sectarian forces. Tight security measures were imposed on the city as the puppet forces moved through.
Ninwa Province.
Al-Mawsil.
Resistance pounds pro-American Kurdish separatist gunmen with 40-minute mortar barrage Wednesday night.
In a dispatch posted at 1:17pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a barrage of mortar sounds into the headquarters of the pro-American Kurdish separatist Peshmergah militia in al-Mawsil on Wednesday night.
The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the Peshmergah headquarters in the al-Wahdah neighborhood on the left (northeast) side of the city, near al-Mawsil General Hospital came under an intense mortar attack late on Wednesday night that lasted for more than 40 minutes.
The source added that when a force left the headquarters to locate and destroy the source of the mortar firing, a bomb exploded by that patrol, destroying one of their vehicles and killing four Peshmergah gunmen.
Puppet “International Transport Director” killed near Syrian border.
In a dispatch posted at 2:12pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot and killed the regional puppet “International Transport Director” in Rabi‘ah near the Syrian border northwest of al-Mawsil.
The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that “unknown armed men” equipped with machine guns ambushed the puppet “Director,” Hazim Rasn, killing him instantly.
Irbil Province.
Irbil.
US raids Iranian Consulate in Irbil, arrests five employees, confiscates computers, documents, consulate property Thursday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 11:47am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops arrested five employees of the Iranian consulate in Irbil in far northern Iraq and confiscated computers, documents and property of the consulate on Thursday morning.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that no further details on the American action were available. In December 2006, US forces arrested several Iranians who were working with Shi‘i sectarian militias to plan sectarian attacks. Among those Iranians were several diplomats who had been sent by Tehran to the US installed puppet regime in Baghdad.
The regional hegemonic regime in Iran is seeking to secure its hold in Iraq by using Shi‘i sectarian leaders and organizations. It hopes to step into the shoes of the American occupation authorities whose grip on the country has been weakened by three years of increasingly severe Resistance attacks. To forestall Iran’s attempt to replace America as colonial power in Iraq, the Iraqi Resistance continues its battle against the US and pro-US groups and facilities as well as against pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian forces.
In reality the pro-US and pro-Iranian groups are largely one in the same, inasmuch as the United States relied heavily on pro-Iranian forces when it invaded Iraq in 2003 and then when it set up its puppet regime, allowing the 30,000-man Iranian-trained Badr Brigades to form the backbone of the US-supported police, security services, and puppet army.
Now that the US appears to be ready to exit Iraq under the relentless blows of the Iraqi Resistance, the Shi‘i sectarian pro-Iranian forces ensconced in power by Washington and lacking any popular support in Iraq, are now increasingly looking to Tehran for protection against the rising tide of the Iraqi Resistance.
