これを一部返還してくれといっているところが、日本政府と違ってしたたかな(外交に慣れている)韓国政府だと思って、笑ってしまった。「言うだけいって、駄目ならあきらめよう」ということかな(笑)。

South Korea paid $20M ransom, says Taliban

A senior Taiban leader in Afghanistan said South Korea paid $20 million for the release of 19 hostages - and vowed to use the payoff to buy weapons and kill more people.
The insurgent claimed the South Korean government quietly handed over the cash to ensure the Christian aid workers held captive for more than a month were safely returned.
"We got more than $20 million" from the South Korean government, the commander told Reuters. "With it we will purchase arms, get our communication network renewed and buy vehicles for carrying out more suicide attacks."
South Korea denied paying a ransom. Critics condemned paying off terrorists, saying negotiating with the Taliban could spur more kidnappings and make the central Asian country more dangerous for foreigners who already fear abduction.
The freed hostages, part of a group of 23 South Koreans kidnapped in southeast Afghanistan in mid-July, arrived home today after a long flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
"We are very sorry to the people and the government for causing concerns," said one of the former hostages, Yoo Kyung-shik. "We appreciate the Korean people for helping us to return to our families. We owe a big debt to the nation and people."
The freed hostages also expressed sorrow over the deaths of two male hostages who were killed by the Taliban. Two women were released earlier as a goodwill gesture.
The remaining hostages were freed after Seoul agreed to remove all its nationals from Afghanistan and the Taliban dropped their demand that a group of prisoners held by the Afghan government be released.
