Resistance bomb in al-Hadithah leaves two American soldiers reported dead Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:48am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the city of al-Hadithah, about 220km west of Baghdad at 9am local time Saturday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the bomb, which had been planted by the side of a road in the as-Subhani district, blew up as a US column passed by. The blast damaged a US personnel carrier, killing two American troops and wounding five more of them.

Resistance battles US Marines in fierce fighting in Hit midday Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 11:38am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting was underway at the time of reporting between Iraqi Resistance fighters and US Marines in the middle of the city of Hit, about 170km northwest of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance men armed with light, medium, and heavy weapons had been fighting the Americans for more than half an hour. The witnesses said that fighting was centered around the area known as the Syrup Works, and that the Resistance men had destroyed a US vehicle in the course of the combat.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance bomb blasts US vehicle in al-Fallujah shortly after midnight Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:13am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that the bomb went off in the ad-Dubbat section of the city near the main street that runs through al-Fallujah at 1am during the nighttime early hours of Saturday.

The source said that the explosion totally destroyed a Humvee.Eyewitnesses reported that US troops fired flares in the air after the blast apparently to request reinforcements. Parts of the blasted American vehicle, totally blackened by flame, could still be seen strewn around the street on Saturday morning.

Al-Khalidiyah.

Resistance bomb blasts Iraqi puppet troops near al-Khalidiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of US and Iraqi puppet troops in al-Khalidiyah, about 80km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the bomb, which had been planted by the highway, went off by the column as it passed opposite the village of al-Karabilah in the Jazirat al-Khalidiyah area. The witnesses said that the blast damaged a troop transport vehicle belonging to the Iraqi puppet forces, killing or wounding all aboard.

In a dispatch posted at 12:05pm Makkah time midday Saturday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, a high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of four-wheel drive cars that was driving through the al-‘Amiriyah district of occupied Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that foreigners were inside the vehicles and that the blast destroyed one GMC, killing or wounding all aboard. After the attack, American troops surrounded he entire al-‘Amal ash-Sha‘bi area near the bridge in the al-Jihad neighborhood.

Military forces converge on Madinat as-Sadr section of Baghdad.

In a bulletin posted at 1:05pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that massive columns were heading towards the Madinat Saddam area of Baghdad, the stronghold of Shi‘i sectarian leader Muqtada as-Sadr’s Jaysh al-Mahdi militia that was dubbed “Madinat as-Sadr” after the American occupation. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the area as saying that Humvee and tanks carrying dozens of troops went into the al-Habibiyah, Qita‘ 34, and al-Jawadar areas.

Occupied Iraqi capital put under curfew from Friday night to Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US-installed Iraqi puppet authorities imposed a curfew on Baghdad beginning Friday evening and lasting until Sunday morning.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet regime banned traffic and requested citizens to stay home. The curfew declaration, issued by the office of puppet “Prime Minister” Nuri al-Maliki failed to explain why the curfew, which only affected the occupied city of Baghdad, was being imposed. A source in the puppet “Interior Ministry” told the American Associated Press (AP) that intelligence regarding the “security situation” was behind the order, but gave no further details.

Heavy fighting rages in Tikrit as Resistance men assault US intelligence headquarters Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 9:36pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that hour violent fighting was under way around the US intelligence headquarters in the city of Tikrit, about 180km north of Baghdad.

The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the Resistance was apparently trying to storm into the headquarters which is heavily fortified behind concrete barricades in the middle of the city.

The Resistance launched its attack with a barrage or mortar shells and Katyusha rockets on the headquarters. Eyewitnesses said that the fighting was so fierce that worshippers in the mosques of the city cut short their nighttime Ramadan prayers.

Yathrib.

Resistance fighters ambush US patrol in Yathrib late Friday night.

In a dispatch posted at 11am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces ambushed a US patrol in the area of Yathrib, about 70km north of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that the Resistance men attacked the patrol with RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades in the al-Qadisiyah area of Yathrib late on Friday night.

The attack destroyed one American armored vehicle, but no further details on US casualties were available. The Americans immediately closed off the entire neighborhood and arrested dozens of local residents after the attack. At the time of reporting Saturday, the area was still cordoned off.

In a dispatch posted at 2:25pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the patrol was attacked near the home of Colonel Jamal Kamal, located on al-Kurnish Street in the city. The puppet police colonel, his wife and a number of civilians were wounded in the attack. Puppet Colonel Kamal works in the puppet “Emergency Police Directorate” in Kirkuk.

Resistance car bomber blasts puppet police checkpoint in Tall ‘Afar.

In a dispatch posted at 2:05pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a check point run by the directorate of the puppet police in Tall ‘Afar, west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq. Two puppet policemen were wounded. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the car bomber rammed the checkpoint in the Hasan Koy area, despite being targeted by puppet police gunfire after failing to stop.

Resistance bomb targets puppet police patrol in al-Mawsil.

In a dispatch posted at 11:09am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi puppet police patrol in the northern city of al-Mawsil. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police command for Ninwa Province as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a road went off by a puppet police patrol as it passed the al-Jamasah intersection on the left (northeast) bank of the Tigris River in the city. The source said that the explosion damaged of patrol vehicle and wounded one of the puppet policemen.

Puppet governor of al-Basrah Province survives assassination attempt Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:50pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet “Governor” of al-Basrah Province, Muhammad Musbih al-Wa’ili was the target of an assassination attempt on Saturday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported media sources in the city a saying that persons in unknown cars opened fire on the motorcade in which the puppet official was riding down Baghdad Street in the al-Jam‘iyah area. Three of the bodyguards surrounding the puppet “Governor” were wounded in the attack.

Saturday’s assault was the first assassination attempt against the puppet “Governor” since he took office. It was unclear who was behind that attempt because in addition to the Iraqi Resistance, there are numerous mutually hostile Shi‘i sectarian factions all supporting the occupation but battling one another for dominance in the local area.
