Saddam’s hometown Tikrit explodes in rage at US death sentence on Iraqi President. Protestors seize control of town Sunday afternoon.
In dispatches posted at 1:55pm and 2:02pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the announcement of the US-backed puppet regime’s death sentence on Iraqi President Saddam Husayn was met with rage by the people of the President’s home town of Tikrit, about 180km north of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from al-‘Awjah ミ the part of Tikrit where Saddam Husayn’s home was ミ saying that as soon as the sentence was read out shooting erupted and explosions shook the city. Defying the shoot-on-sight curfew imposed on the province local townsmen began gathering in large numbers in streets and lanes of the city.
In spite of the puppet regime’s orders to stay indoors, hundreds of Tikrit residents poured out into the streets of al-‘Awjah, Tikrit, and the town of ad-Dawr just to the southeast. They carried pictures of Saddam Husayn and chanted slogans in support of the legal President of Iraq.
At the time of reporting, US troops were trying to surround and break up the demonstrations that were quickly growing in numbers. At that point the Americans were shooting their weapons into the air, avoiding directly shooting into the angry protestors.
Protestors seize control of Tikrit.
In a dispatch posted at 3:10pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the city of Tikrit had been taken over by its protesting residents, outraged at the American death sentence imposed on Iraqi President and native son Saddam Husayn.
The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that more than 10,000 local residents stormed through the streets protesting the American “verdict.” The demonstrators seized two puppet police stations and the municipal center and chanted support for the Iraqi President.
At the time of reporting the demonstratons were still storming through the streets.
Americans cut off all electricity in Saddam Husayn’s home town of Tikrit.
In a dispatch posted at 12:05pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces had shut off all electricity to the al-‘Awjah district of Tikrit, the hometown of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn. The Americans also banned local people from turning on any privately owned generators they might have.
The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces also issued a statement that they broadcast over loudspeakers threatening anyone seen outside of his house in coming hours. Massive numbers of US troops were deployed in Tikrit and the nearby town of ad-Dawr in anticipation of violence following the announcement of the American death sentence against Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.

Violent demonstrators burn down puppet courthouse in ad-Dawr.
In a dispatch posted at 4:39pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that violent protests swept the town of ad-Dawr, southeast of Tikrit on Sunday after the announcement of the American death sentence upon him.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from ad-Dawr, the home town of Iraqi Vice President ‘Izzat Ibrahim ad-Duri ミ who has never been captured by the Americans ミ as saying that protestors attacked the city court house, killing two Iraqi puppet policemen who were guarding it.
The demonstrators smashed computers and burned papers and official books in the puppet regime courthouse. They then set fire to the building and burned it completely to the ground. At the time of reporting protestors were still raging through the streets of ad-Dawr

Resistance fighters set up fake checkpoint to stop, capture, execute nine puppet “Shock Troops.”
In a dispatch posted at 2:59pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed and killed nine puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in the town of at-Tarimiyah, just 30km north of Baghdad.
The at-Tarimiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance men set up a fake checkpoint at which they stopped the vehicle that was carrying the nine puppet “Shock Troops” on their way south into Baghdad. The witnesses said that the Resistance men executed the puppet “Shock Troops,” known for their involvement in hundreds of cases of sectarian torture and murder.
Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.
Puppet police shoot into crowds of demonstrators in Ba‘qubah as residents of Diyala province defy shoot-to-kill curfew to protest death sentence on President Saddam Husayn.
In a dispatch posted at 10:29pm Makkah time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that thousands of Iraqis took to the street in the city of Ba‘qubah, about 65km northeast of Baghdad, defying a curfew to express their outrage over the US death sentence announced against Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.
The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that thousands of protestors setout from the nearby town Buhriz, 12km to the south.
In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Makkah time Sunday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi puppet police had opened fire on demonstrators trying to storm the puppet police headquarters in Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad.
The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at least one person was killed in the puppet police attack. A medical source told Mafkarat al-Islam that several other people were wounded when the puppet policemen opened fire on the crowd.
At the time of reporting, US occupation troops were trying to put down the demonstrations by throwing percussion grenades into the crowds in an attempt to disperse them.
US occupation troops threaten to use force against curfew violators in Diyala Province.
In a dispatch posted at 1:02pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops followed up on the Iraqi puppet regime’s curfew order for Diyala Province by demanding that residents of Diyala remain indoors on Sunday until further notice.
The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that columns of US troops drove through the streets with loudspeakers reading a declaration to residents ordering them to stay indoors and threatening to use force against any “rebellion.”
The correspondent reported that the Americans and their puppet allies had taken heavy security measures in Ba‘qubah, at-Tahrir, and al-Khalis and other places in Diyala Province. Very large numbers of US and Iraqi puppet army troops have appeared in those areas where it is said that there are many former officers in the Iraqi army and members of the Iraqi Baath Party, banned by the Americans. All were considered likely to react forcefully to the US-backed death sentence against Iraqi President Saddam Husayn announced on Sunday morning.

Puppet police in Babil put province under curfew, joining Baghdad, Salah ad-Din, Diyala, and Ninwa provinces where the puppet regime has threatened to use force against anyone going outside.
In a dispatch posted at 11:07am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet police command in Babil Province ミ which was not covered by the curfew announced by the central puppet regime in Baghdad ミ a short while ago declared its own curfew in all cities and parts of the province, in anticipation of violence following the expected announcement of a death sentence by the US-run puppet regime for Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from al-Hillah, about 100km south of Baghdad, that the puppet police there used loudspeakers to announce the curfew, threatening to come down with force on anyone who violates the ban on going out.
With this curfew, Babil province joins Baghdad, and the provinces of Salah ad-Din, Diyala, and Ninwa under curfew. Puppet authorities in al-Mawsil, capital of Ninwa Province declared a curfew there as of dawn on Sunday.
In a dispatch from al-Mawsil posted at 11:22am Makkah time the correspondent there wrote that in addition to curfews, tougher security measures have been taken in the areas under the clamp down. More checkpoints have been erected in anticipation of a violent reaction to the American-installed puppet regime’s sentence of death on the Iraqi President.

Resistance bomb rips through puppet army column in ad-Dibis Sunday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 11:53am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi puppet army column in a town near Kirkuk at 8am local time Sunday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road went of by a puppet army column in ad-Dibis, 30km northwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq. The witnesses said that the explosion completely destroyed a puppet army pickup, killing four puppet soldiers who were aboard it.

In a dispatch posted at 11:53am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet police criminal investigation director in Kirkuk was the target of an Iraqi Resistance bomb attack in the south of the city.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road went off by the motorcade of Aras Namiq, the puppet police director of criminal investigations in the al-Wasiti neighborhood of Kirkuk. Namiq survived the attack.
US moves 10,000 American, Iraqi puppet troops to Kirkuk in anticipation of violent reaction to US-backed death sentence for Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.
In a dispatch posted at 11:52am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a force of more than 10,000 US and Iraqi puppet troops had deployed in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk in anticipation of violence in the city following the announcement of the US-backed regime’s death sentence against Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Captain Sirwan Ahmad al-Khalidi of the Kirkuk puppet police as saying that security forces had been increased at the city’s main entrances and exits. At the north and south ends of Kirkuk troops search all cars and pedestrians and go through their identity papers before letting them pass.
The correspondent reported that the US occuapation forces deployed large numbers of their forces in a number of Arab villages in the al-‘Ubayd, al-Hawijah, al-Jazirah, and ad-Dibis areas and also put members of the American-banned Iraqi Baath Party under surveillance.

Tall ‘Afar.
Resistance fighters kill officer in puppet police from Tall ‘Afar Saturday evening.
In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot and killed an officer in the Iraqi puppet police directorate in Tall ‘Afar, about 55km west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq on Saturday evening.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saing that the Resistance men opened fire with machine guns on Lieutenant Qahtan Mahmud in he Cultural District of al-Mawsil on the left-bank (northeast) side of the city. Mahmud was driving a civilian car at the time of the attack. He died instantly.
Earlier an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a puppet police security barrier by the puppet police directorate in the al-Qadisiyah district of Tall ‘Afar, killing one puppet policeman and wounding two more according to a puppet police source.
Muthanna Province.
As-Samawah.
Tension high in as-Samawah, home to large numbers of Shi‘i Baath Party members and supporters of Saddam Husayn.
In a dispatch posted at 3:21pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the southern city of as-Samawah was quiet but tense following the announcement of the American death sentence on Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that militiamen loyal to Shi‘i sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr, whose politicians hold portfolios in the current US-backed puppet government as holding a rally to support the sentence.
But, the correspondent indicated that public response to those partisan demonstrations was limited and tension was high in the city, which is home to large numbers of Shi‘ah who are also loyal members of the Iraqi Baath party and supporters of the President.
