Bodies of four puppet policemen discovered in al-Habbaniyah Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:38am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police discovered four bodies of Iraqi puppet policemen in the area of al-Habbaniyah, about 70km west of Baghdad on Wednesday morning. The al-Habbaniyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Madiq area as ssaying that a puppet police patrol came up on the bodies in their area Wednesday morning. It was later determined that the corpses belonged to members of the US-backed puppet police force.

Al-Khalidiyah.

Resistance bomb rips through US column in al-Khalidiyah Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:20pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in al-Khalidiyah, about 90km west of Baghdad on Tuesday.

The al-Khalidiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road went of by a US column as it passed in front of the as-Siddiq Mosque in the city.

The witnesses said that the explosion destroyed a Humvee, killing or wounding the soldiers who were inside. American forces quickly closed off the area where the attack took place, making an exact count of the casualties impossible.

Al-Fallujah.

US troops carry out raids, arrests in al-Fallujah at dawn Wednesday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:17pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces carried out raids and searches in the ar-Risalah neighborhood of western al-Fallujah at dawn on Wednesday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the area as saying that American Humvees and tanks surrounded and poured into their residential area at dawn. The US troops then began raiding and searching houses.

One local resident named al-Hajj Yusuf Kariman and three of his sons were abducted by the US forces, who gave no reason for the arrest. The Americans took the four men to their al-Mazra‘ah (“Farm”) base just east of al-Fallujah.

Resistance attack Tuesday night leaves Iraqi puppet army colonel dead.

In a dispatch posted at 11:34am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters battled Iraqi puppet army forces in al-Fallujah on Tuesday night.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that Staff Colonel Haydar ‘Ali, the commander of the Third regiment of the Iraqi puppet army was killed in a battle between the Resistance and US and Iraqi puppet troops in the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood of al-Fallujah Tuesday night. The source said that the colonel died of wounds two hours after being brought to al-Fallujah General Hospital. He was reportedly a native of as-Suwayrah.

US troops shoot three armed men in al-Fallujah Tuesday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 9:44pm Makkah time Wednesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that three armed men, believed to have possibly been Resistance men, opened fire on a puppet policeman who was dressed in civilian clothing and walking with his wife towards the public clinic in al-Fallujah on Tuesday evening.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that when the men opened fire and then tried to leave the area, an American sniper hiding in a nearby building opened fire on the men. Two of them died on the spot and the third died of his wounds in hospital. US troops then surrounded the area. There have been no confirmations from Resistance groups that the three armed men were actually Resistance fighters.

US troops raid memorial meeting for Resistance fighter Tuesday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 11:32am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops raided a memorial service for a Resistance fighter in al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad, on Tuesday evening. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Bu Mar‘i area, near ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, as saying that the Americans arrested six of the people who were paying their respects at the memorial meeting.

Resistance bomb destroys US Humvee near al-Qa’im on Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:31pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the al-Karabilah area to the east of al-Qa’im near the border with Syria in far western Iraq on Tuesday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Karabilah as saying that a bomb that was planted by the side of the road went under a US Humvee that was a part of a patrol in the area.

The blast totally destroyed the vehicle, sending body parts of the men aboard flying through the air. Witnesses thought it likely that all the Americans aboard the vehicle were killed in the explosion. After the attack, US forces closed off the area, preventing anyone from approaching. US helicopter gun ships prowled the area from above, making it impossible to ascertain the exact nature and extent of American casualties.

Baghdad.

Mysterious bombs continue effort to sow sectarian division in occupied Iraq.

Five persons were killed in two mysterious explosions in various parts of occupied Baghdad on Wednesday as efforts to stir up dissention continued. Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that one bomb went off inside a minibus, killing three people and wounding seven more in the western Baghdad area of al-Bayya‘.

Al-Jazeera quoted a source in the puppet “Interior Ministry” said that a bomb planted in the street killed two persons and wounded 10 more in the ash-Shurjah area of central Baghdad. Quds Press reported the puppet “Interior Ministry” as saying that Iraqi puppet troops sealed off that area immediately after the explosion and that ambulances took the victims to nearby hospitals.

Resistance car bomb targets puppet police patrol in Baghdad’s ‘Uqbah ibn Nafi‘ Sqaure.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb that had been parked by ‘Uqbah ibn Nafi‘ Square in central Baghdad went off by a puppet police patrol, killing six Iraqis and wounding 11 more, including puppet policemen, Quds Press reported Wednesday. US occupation troops and Iraqi puppet soldiers immediately closed off the area and the wounded were taken to nearby hospitals.

Resistance mortars blast home of pro-American SCIRI chief al-Hakim.

In a dispatch posted at 8:58pm Makkah time Wednesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a mortar barrage at the house of ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim, the head of the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian so-called “Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq” (SCIRI). The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the al-Karadah puppet police as saying that three of al-Hakim’s guards were wounded in the barrage and taken to hospital, one of them with severe injuries. The source said that al-Hakim himself was not home at the time of the attack.

Al-Hakim is a frequent target of Resistance attacks because of his participation in the American invasion and occupation of the country from the beginning. The armed wing of SCIRI, the 20,000-man Badr Brigades invaded Iraq together with US troops and tehn formed the backbone of the American installed puppet security and police forces. Most recently, al-Hakim has emerged as one of the main supporters of US and Zionist plans for the partition of Iraq on religious and sectarian lines under cover of a “federal” system.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces carried out two separate attacks on US and Iraqi puppet army patrols in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Wednesday morning.

The ad-Durah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a Humvee belonging to the Iraqi puppet army in the al-Mahdi al-Awwal area, totally destroying the vehicle. Local eyewitnesses reported that two Iraqi puppet troops who were aboard the vehicle were killed instantly.

In a second attack, Resistance men ambushed a US Humvee under the al-Kut Highway Bridge on the outskirts of ad-Durah. The Resistance men first fired a shoulder-launched rocket at the vehicle and then opened up with intensive medium machinegun fire. Witnesses said that the attack left one US soldier dead and three more American troops wounded. Afterwards, US troops surrounded the area completely. They set up checkpoints and took “security measures” particularly on the main streets in the suburb.

In a bulletin posted at 2:12pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting had erupted and was going on at that moment between Iraqi Resistance fighters and US occupation troops in western Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the combat broke out around al-Munazzamah Street in the al-‘Amiriyah neighborhood of western Baghdad. No further information on the nature or extent of casualties was immediately available.

High-explosive Resistance bomb destroys US Bradley armored vehicle in Baghdad Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:55pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb went off by a US military column in the western Baghdad neighborhood of al-Khadra’ on Tuesday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the massive bomb completely destroyed an American Bradley armored vehicle. Details on the nature and extent of casualties were unknown because US forces threw down a “security cordon” around the area immediately after the attack.

Resistance bomb kills puppet policeman on road to ad-Durah Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:02pm Makkah time midday Wednesday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi puppet police patrol in southern Baghdad, killing one puppet policeman and wounding two more of them on Tuesday afternoon. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saing that the patrol was proceeding along the highway to the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah when the bomb went off, completely disabling a patrol vehicle and killing one puppet policeman and wounding two more.

Resistance bombards US consulate in al-Hillah with mortars Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:06pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance bombarded the US consulate in the city of al-Hillah, about 100km south of Baghdad on Wednesday morning.

The al-Hillah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the consulate came under mortar bombardment on Wednesday morning. They could hear the sound of violent explosions that shook the consulate coming from inside the facility and plumes of smoke billowed up over the compound. US forces rushed to seal off the consulate after the attack and helicopters flew in over the area.

British forces battle Shi‘i militias in al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:39pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that British occupation troops fought a battle with Shi‘i militias in the southern city of al-Basrah. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a spokesman for the British occupation as saying that two militiamen were killed and a third captured by British troops in the course of the fighting.

Meanwhile sources with the Sunni Waqf (Pious Endowment) board in al-Basrah expressed his surprise over the killing of the Imam of the Sunni Safwan Mosque, Shaykh Yasin, and his son by puppet police personnel. The sources quoted the head of the puppet police as saying that they had received orders to raid farming areas along the border in the Safwan area, not the home of the Sunni Imam, adding that an investigation into the killing was underway.

Mafkarat al-Islam quoted independent sources as saying that puppet “Oil Guard” police took part in the raid on the religious leader’s home. Local sources said that there were suspicions that the killers belonged to a local sectarian organization known as the “Tha’r Allah” (“Vengeance of God”) movement led by one Sayyid Yusuf. That group is blamed for numerous sectarian killings, including the murder of one Shaykh Nadir who was arrested and killed just after the start of the new year.
