US Marine reported killed by Resistance sharpshooter’s bullet in al-Hadithah Friday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 2:52pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed a US soldier on the Hajlan Bridge over the Euphrates River in the city of al-Hadithah, about 220km west of Baghdad on Friday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a US Marine who was standing at the northern entrance to the bridge was struck by an Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter’s bullet. He died instantly.
Witnesses reported that US troops sealed off the bridge and took more than 10 men to carry out attacks on two vacant houses opposite the bridge, thinking that the Resistance sharpshooter must have fired from atop the roof of one of the houses. The Americans found no sign of the rifleman.
Ar-Ramadi.
Heavy fighting in ar-Ramadi Friday afternoon.
In a bulletin posted at 2:05pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting was going on at that hour in the city of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad.
Massive explosions were shaking the city, believed to be from car bombs or guided missiles. Mosque loudspeakers were proclaiming prayers for the victory of the Resistance.
The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the fighting was raging from street to street and from one neighborhood to another and that several Iraqi Resistance groups were taking part in the battle which was concentrated at that moment in the areas of az-Zawr, the provincial government building, and 17 Street.

In a dispatch posted on 26 October, the Russian RIA-Novosti news agency reported Georgia’s Defense Ministry as saying that Tblisi will be sending a new contingent to help the Americans in occupied Iraq in early November.
Servicemen of the 31st light infantry battalion have been trained as part of the US “Sustainment and Stability Operations Program,” RIA-Novosti reported, and they are to replace 300 troops serving in the US-run occupation forces in Iraq. Some 850 Georgian troops are currently deployed in Iraq.
The “Sustainment and Stability Operations Program” was launched in March 2005 in Georgia, whose President Mikheil Saakashvili is known for his Western leanings and desire to take the country into NATO.
Three battalions of 1,500 servicemen have been trained under this program. In July 2006, the United States and Georgia decided to train another 2,500-strong Georgian brigade, RIA-Novosti reported.

Three US troops reported killed in Resistance ambush in Samarra’ market Friday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 6:05pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance men ambushed a US foot patrol in the Suq Maryam area of central Samarra’ on Friday morning.
The Samarra’ correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with medium machine guns and hand grenades ambushed an American foot patrol of 10 to 15 US troops that entered the main Suq Maryam area in Samarra’. The attack sparked a 15-minute firefight that left three US troops dead and four more of them wounded. One of the Resistance men was also killed.
The correspondent reported that in another engagement, Iraqi Resistance men attacked a force of puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in the central and western part of the city on Thursday night, killing or wounding several of them. After the attack puppet “Shock Troops” abandoned their headquarters in the al-‘Amrushiyah area in the middle of the city late at night.
Bayji.
US troops open fire on man, wife in car near Bayji.
In a dispatch posted at 5:54pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops opened fire on a car carrying an Iraqi couple in as-Siniyah, about 15km west of Bayji (which is about 200km north of Baghdad).
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a doctor in the city hospital as saying that the man in the car died instantly and that his wife was severely injured.

Resistance bombards British Shatt al-‘Arab base midday Friday.
In a bulletin posted at 12:20pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces were blasting the British base in the Shatt al-‘Arab region with an intense rocket barrage at the time of reporting.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the attack had been going on intermittently for more than 10 minutes.
During the night of Thursday-Friday the Resistance blasted two British positions.
