Three American troops and their translator reported killed in high-explosive bombing near al-Fallujah midday Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:45pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance high-explosive bomb exploded by a US Humvee in the al-Bu ‘Isa area of southwestern al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad, at midday Sunday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police of ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah as saying that the blast killed three American Marines and destroyed a Humvee.

Lieutenant Jamal Khalil of the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah puppet police said while on the scene that the bomb that had been planted by the side of the dirt road that runs to az-Zagharit village destroyed a Humvee that was part of a US patrol. The explosion killed three US troops and an Iraqi translator who was working for them.

Resistance fighters ambush puppet troops in al-Karmah Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 5:20pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters had ambushed five Iraqi puppet troops in the ar-Rufah area of al-Karmah, just east of al-Fallujah on Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that four Resistance men attacked an Iraqi puppet army foot patrol of five troops in the ar-Rufah area, killing them and taking their weapons. The correspondent reported that US and Iraqi puppet troops attacked the area about 15 minutes after the ambush, raiding and arresting more than 30 local residents in the area.

Fifty local youths swept up by mass arrests in Hit Saturday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 10:19am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces and their Iraqi puppet army allies carried out a campaign of raids, searches, and arrests in the al-‘Ummal neighborhood and in residential district adjacent to the road that runs through the middle of Hit, about 170km northwest of Baghdad on Saturday evening.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US and Iraqi puppet forces surrounded the area for hours during which time the raided houses and arrested 50 local youths, whom they took away to one of the US bases in the area of al-Baghdadi some 50km away. In another incident, violent explosions were heared in Hit that were reportedly caused by various rockets that the Resistance fired on US bases and headquarters in the city. Several days earlier the city of Hit witnessed several successful Resistance attacks on US and puppet army forces.

Al-Hadithah.

In a dispatch posted at 10:18am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US foot patrol in the city of al-Hadithah, about 270km northwest of Baghdad shortly before sunset Saturday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road in the al-Haqlaniyah area near the al-Hadithah fuel station went off by a US foot patrol. The blast killed three US soldiers and wounded four more. After the attack, American troops raided nearby houses looking for the Resistance men but arrested no one.

Baghdad.

Mysterious car bomb blasts Christian Church in Baghdad, killing or wounding 20.

In a dispatch posted at 6:20pm Makkah time Sunday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that more than 20 Iraqi Christians were killed or injured Sunday evening when a car bomb exploded by the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary in the ar-Riyad area of eastern Baghdad.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb went off by the car belonging to the cleric who presides over the church and that was followed by the explosion of a car bomb when Christians came out after their prayers inside the building. The explosions killed or wounded 20, all of them Christians. The correspondent reported that US forces surrounded the entire area and entered the church where they picked up the crucifix that had fallen to the ground.

Efforts to stir up sectarian sentiments in order to split Iraqi society are widely traced to the American and Zionist effort to split Iraq along sectarian religious and ethnic lines. Recent anti-Islamic remarks by the Roman Catholic Pope have helped that effort by identifying a prominent Christian institution with the US and Zionist effort to weaken and divide Arab and Muslim societies.

Resistance fighters ambush US convoy in western Baghdad Sunday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance men attacked a US convoy at the al-Ghazaliyah bridge crossroads on the highway in western Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported motorists coming from the area as saying that three US trucks loaded with food supplies for US troops on their way to al-Fallujah were totally burned up in the ambush.

The witnesses said that one Humvee was damaged and three pickups that were on the road with the US column were totally burned up. At the time of reporting, US troops had encircled the whole area and domestic civilian traffic was being diverted to al-‘Amiriyah and al-Ghazaliyah via side streets to avoid the scene of the Resistance ambush. Witnesses also said that the body of a bearded man wearing sporting clothes was found a distance of 100 meters from the scene of the attack and next to him was a gun. It was believed that he was one of the Resistance men who had been killed in the battle.

Resistance car bomb blasts puppet police, Shi‘i sectarian militiamen in central Baghdad Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:36pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 10 Iraqi puppet policemen and Shi‘i sectarian militiamen were killed or wounded when an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol near the Forensic Medicine Hospital in central Baghdad Sunday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an explosives-laden car that had been parked by the side of the road blew up by a passing patrol.

The correspondent noted that since the a member of the Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi movement led by Muqtada as-Sadr is now the puppet “Minister of Health,” all medical facilities in the country, including the Forensic Medicine Hospital are controlled by the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia. As a result Sunni Iraqis are reluctant to come to retrieve the bodies of their murdered loved ones from the facility for fear that they might share their fate.

In a dispatch posted at 12:56pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, fierce fighting had broken out between Iraqi Resistance men and US occupation troops accompanied by their Iraqi puppet regime allies in central Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the clashes erupted in the ad-Dakhiliyah neighborhood in the al-Yarmuk area of central Baghdad near the ad-Dakhiliyah Mosque along the railroad that passes through al-Yarmuk. The witnesses said that one American had been killed and two more wounded in the fighting, which also left a number of local civilians dead when US troops deliberately shot at them even though they were far from the area where the fighting was going on.

Resistance car bomber targets puppet police in eastern Baghdad Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:24am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into an Iraqi puppet police patrol in Baghdad Sunday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the attack occurred in the area of the Camp Sarah neighborhood in eastern Baghdad Sunday morning. Three puppet policemen were wounded. After the bombing, puppet security forces surrounded the area.

US launches campaign of mass arrests in al-Mahmudiyah Sunday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops together with puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” were carrying out a massive campaign of raids, searches and arrests in al-Mahmudiyah, about 30km south of Baghdad at the time of reporting.

The al-Mahmudiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that occupation troops entered the area and began arresting local people. At the time of reporting more than 40 local residents had been arrested, but the sweep in the villages of al-Gharir, as-Sa‘idat and in the city proper were still underway as of one hour before sunset.

Resistance bomb near al-Hawijah leaves two US troops reported killed Saturday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 11:16am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol near al-Hawijah, southwest of the city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq Saturday evening. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb planted by the side of the road south to Tikrit went off, destroying a Humvee and killing two US troops and wounding three more of them.

Resistance car bomber blasts Iraqi puppet army checkpoint Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into an Iraqi puppet army checkpoint in the middle of Tall ‘Afar west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police in al-Mawsil as saying that a Resistance fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a puppet army checkpoint in the as-Saray section of the city at 9:30am local time Sunday morning. The source said the attacker did not obey orders by the puppet troops to stop and slammed into the checkpoint, detonating his payload. Two puppet soldiers were killed and two more of them wounded in the attack, both “extremely seriously” the source said.
