American snipers kill four more Iraqi civilians in ar-Ramadi Thursday, bringing total death toll by US serial sharpshooters in the city to 33 civilians gunned down in the last week, more than half of them women and children.

In a dispatch posted at 11:23am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US snipers shot and killed four Iraqi civilians in ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad Thursday morning. The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that American snipers atop the public affairs building and the Immigration Building and a US sniper atop a building in az-Zuyut shot and killed a total of four Iraqi civilians. One of the Iraqis was gunned down on az-Zuyut Street as he was on the way to the city market place.

Two other civilians were on the main road near the public affairs building as they were on their way towards the western entrance to the city. American troops gunned down a fourth Iraqi when he was heading towards the provincial puppet office building. The latest killings by American snipers in ar-Ramadi followed reports of an attack on Tuesday that killed a woman and her child under the age of two, and sniper attacks on Monday in which American soldiers picked off 16 Iraqi civilians in various parts of the city.

Six days ago, on Friday, 25 August American snipers killed three local men, one of them a 70-year-old, and then used the bodies for target practice. (See Iraqi Resistance Reports for Tuesday, 29 August 2006; Monday, 28 August 2006; Friday, 25 August 2006.) Meanwhile, fearful lest Iraqi Resistance sharpshooters make use of other buildings in ar-Ramadi to shoot back at US troops, the Americans set about destroying a number of high-rise buildings in the city that they do not normally control. In a dispatch posted at 12:25pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at dawn on Thursday, the American occupation troops began demolishing various high-rise former Iraqi government buildings in ar-Ramadi.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Americans planted local explosives around the tax and customs buildings and the center for combating crime in the middle of the city and blew them up. The US troops also demolished several privately owned buildings and factories lest Resistance men make use of them to target the American invader troops. The US forces did, however, leave standing those high-rise buildings that they themselves occupy as barracks and camps and those that they use as sniper nests to control the streets of ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 5:54pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that ar-Ramadi General Hospital had issued a statement saying that in the past week American snipers in the city had killed a total of 33 civilians, more than half of them women and children. The Hosptial appealed to decent people in Iraq and to the governments of Islamic countries to denounce this daily slaughter being committed by the American military.

Resistance pounds US base with Grad rockets.

In a dispatch posted at 5:14pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five Grad rockets into the US base set up in the Agricultural College in al-Anbar University. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the barrage sent dense smoke rising into the sky from the facility.

Resistance bomb destroys US vehicle in Hit Wednesday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 11:45am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol on the main road in the al-Muhammadi district of eastern Hit, about 170km northwest of Baghdad, on Wednesday evening. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of al-Muhammadi as saying that the blast destroyed one of the vehicles in the patrol, killing or wounding the four Americans who were aboard it.

In cold blood: US Marine in Baghdad sniper shoots elderly Palestinian woman in the back, killing her midday Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 5:22pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an American Marine sniper shot dead an elderly Palestinian woman in the middle of occupied Baghdad at midday Thursday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that al-Hajjah Iman Khalid al-Hawi, the wife of al-Hajj Ibrahim Ahmad al-Hawi was shot by an American sniper when she stepped out of her home in the Palestinian residential complex in Baghdad.

The correspondent reported a source in al-Yarmuk Hospital as saying that al-Hajjah Iman al-Hawi died of a bullet that penetrated her back and came out her chest. The source said that the situation in the area had been calm, there was no curfew in force, and there was no fighting going on when the American Marine for unknown reasons gunned down the Palestinian woman with a shot in the back.

US forces wreck Palestinian sports club in Baghdad, arrest seven Palestinian youths.

In a dispatch posted at 5:17pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces attacked a Palestinian compound located on Hayfa Street in Baghdad, arresting a number of Palestinians on Wednesday evening. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops raided the Hayfa Sports Club that belongs to the Palestine Liberation Movement in Iraq. The Americans went through the whole facility wrecking it and breaking the property of the sports club. They then arrested seven Palestinian youths.

52-year-old Palestinian kidnapped by Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen found dead.

In a dispatch posted at 5:17pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police found the body of the Palestinian Hatim ‘Abd al-Haqq, aged 52 in a Baghdad garbage dump after he had been kidnapped and murdered by the Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

Blast rocks Shi‘i area of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 8:44pm Makkah time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a large explosion shook an area in eastern Baghdad at the al-Qanat intersection near the al-Habayibah food establishments. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the blast killed or wounded dozens of Iraqis, most of them Shi‘i. The cause of the blast was not immediately known but some news reports suggested that a large bomb or car bomb had been the cause.

Iraqi Resistance mortars blast Shi‘i sectarian gunmen near torture center Buratha Mosque in Baghdad’s at-Talibiyah district.

In a dispatch posted at 8:33pm Makkah time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five mortar rounds at Shi‘i sectarian militias near the notorious torture center the Buratha Shi ‘ mosque in the at-Talibiyah section of Baghdad on Thursday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the shells landed on a coffee house where the sectarian gunmen were gathered. The coffee house is reportedly a staging area for the Shi‘i sectarian death squad activities by day and a center for the sale of drugs brought in from Iran during the night. The correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that ambulances were working to transport some 30 dead and wounded persons to the hospital in the wake of the mortar barrage.

Bomb targets British diplomatic convoy in Baghdad’s al-Mansur district.

In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a British diplomatic convoy in western Baghdad on Thursday. The British embassy claimed, however, that no one was injured in the blast. Reuters, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam reported a spokesman for the British embassy as saying that “an accident happened Thursday morning involving British embassy employees who were moving outside the ‘international zone’ but there were no injuries.” Sources in the Iraqi puppet police said, however, that two people were injured in the attack that took place in Baghdad’s al-Mansur district near the area around the Republican Palace that the British referred to as an “international zone” an the Americans have dubbed the “Green Zone.”

US soldier reported killed in highway bombing south of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the highway near the al-Khiyamat area to the south of Baghdad. The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Khiyamat village as saying that the blast went off by a column of several American supply transports and Humvees, setting one of the transport vehicles ablaze and totally destroying it. One American soldier who was in the truck was killed in the blast and another wounded.

Resistance bomb targets US military column at western entrance to Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the highway in western Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Ghazaliyah area of western Baghdad as saying that a bomb that had been planted near the highway went off by the western entrance to the city, disabling a US armored vehicle. US forces quickly surrounded the area where the attack took place and prevented anyone from approaching, making an accounting of casualties impossible.

Resistance mortars blasts joint US-Iraqi puppet army headquarters in Samarra’.

In a dispatch posted at 10:31am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five 60mm mortar rounds into the headquarters jointly occupied by US troops and Iraqi puppet army forces in Samarra’, 120km north of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Mu‘tasim neighborhood of Samarra’ as saying that the Resistance shells blasted the camp set up at the train station in the city, scoring direct hits on the facility and sending plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.

In a dispatch posted at 10:17am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a patrol of puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in al-Mushahadah, about 25km north of Baghdad. The al-Mushahadah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons attacked the patrol as it was passing the northern entrance to the city. The attack, which lasted about 10 minutes, left one patrol vehicle belonging to the puppet guards destroyed and four puppet “National Guards” dead and three more of them wounded.

Resistance bomb targets US vehicle west of al-Mawsil.

In a dispatch posted at 6:32pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US Humvee on the road that runs from al-Mawsil in northern Iraq west to Sinjar. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported motorists who passed by the scene as saying that the blast disabled the Humvee, which they saw on fire. No information on the nature or extent of US casualties was available, however. After the attack, US troops completely closed the road for an hour during which time they dragged away the wrecked vehicle. Two American military ambulances were also seen in the vicinity of the attack zone.

Resistance bomb targets puppet police in al-Mawsil.

In a dispatch posted at 11am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol in the Sumar neighborhood of western al-Mawsil. The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in Sumar as saying that a bomb planted by the main road to the al-Muthanna neighborhood went off by a patrol of the puppet police, disabling a patrol vehicle and killing one of the puppet policemen. Two more puppet police were wounded in the attack.

Resistance bombards joint British-Iraqi puppet army headquarters in al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted at 10:37am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired seven mortar rounds into the joint British-Iraqi puppet army headquarters in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah at 2am local time before dawn Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the at-Tuways section of central al-Basrah as saying that violent explosions could be heard coming from inside the facility.
