Among those abducted by the Americans were Iraqi Sunnis who had fled the sectarian murder and torture campaigns being waged to the south of the country by American-backed Shi‘i sectarians intent on splitting the country on religious and ethnic lines. Sunni refugees from the central and southern parts of Iraq are living in tent camps in Hit and elsewhere in western Iraq.
In all the three days of mass arrests, the Americans have abducted at least 133 Iraqis in the Hit areas of al-Qal‘ah “the Citadel”, ash-Shurtah, ad-Dubbat, Ma‘mal al-Qir “the Tar Factory”, the Industrial Zone, and the as-Sikak {“The Train Station’] neighborhood. Baghdad.
SCIRI chief renews calls for “federal” partition of Iraq, echoing desires of US, Zionist imperial strategists.
In a dispatch posted at 11:15pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the pro-American chief of the so-called Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim had renewed his calls for the establishment of what he called a “federation” in which southern and central Iraq would be largely independent of the rest of the country.
In a statement issued by his office, al-Hakim urged members of his party to “raise consciousness about what he called the “advantages of federation.” The statement said that federation was the “greatest guarantee for our people” ミ presumably a reference to Iraqi Shi‘ah ミ and stressed the importance of getting people to vote for the “formation of a central and southern Iraqi region so that oppression may not return” as he put it, al-Jazeera satellite TV, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported.
Calls for a so-called “federation” that would largely split Iraq along religious and ethnic lines are consitent with plans hatched by US and Zionist politicians and reflected recently by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations) in “The Three-State Solution published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003, in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.
Banking on splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American government officials who are concurrently Zionists Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 2000 for then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
But before the recent period, the idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veternan Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions),
A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)

The gunmen captors were driving them along with kicks and strikes of a stick. The young men never came out of the mosque after that. The Iraqi puppet police had reported Saturday morning that 10 Sunni residents of Baghdad had been kidnapped from their shops on ar-Rashid Street and an-Nahr Street in the middle of downtown Baghdad.
In transmitting the report, Mafkarat al-Islam called on readers to alert concerned international humanitarian organizations to try to fee the youths before they are tortured to death at the hands of the sectarian leader Jalal as-Saghir who is Imam of the Buratha mosque and is concurrently a commander in the pro-American Badr Brigade Shi‘i sectarian militia.

Puppet “Governing Council” of al-Basrah issues stringent censorship order for journalists following demonstrations in support of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.
In a dispatch posted at 10:38am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that demonstrations in support of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn have aroused the concern of the pro-British puppet governing council in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah. Accordingly the puppet council issued an order asserting its right to prosecute any news or information medium that publishes information without first getting the approval of the puppet governing council and the puppet security services. This is even true, the order says, if the correspondent writing the story was an eyewitness to the event he or she is publicizing.
The al-Basrah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the order was in response to demonstrations held a few days earlier in the province when demonstrations in support of the legal President of Iraq, Saddam Husayn took place, as did sectarian attacks on Sunni residents, intended to divert local attention to sectarianism. The correspondent wrote that when the media reported those events ミ to which all residents of al-Basrah were eyewitnesses ミ the puppet governing council denied that there had been any violence and drew up the censorship order.
For its part the Center for Journalistic Freedom in al-Basrah issued a statement denouncing the puppet governing council’s ruling and calling on journalists not to fall in behind what it called “fake journalism.” Southern Iraq was long regarded as a region less supportive of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn. The appearance of popular demonstrations in support of Iraq’s legitimate president in al-Basrah indicate the depth of popular rejection of the occupation and its puppet regime.
