American troops taunt Resistance fighters, provoking grenade attack in al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 9:05pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces’ patrols prowled the streets of al-Fallujah, specifically the city market, using loudspeakers to call on the Iraqi Resistance to come out and fight the Americans.
The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the American patrols tried to provoke Resistance men into falling into their trap by insulting them and calling them cowards, using loudspeakers to say, “cowardly terrorists come out and face us if you are men.”
The correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Americans were surprised when their taunting only resulted in a hand grenade being thrown at the Humvee aboard which the loudspeaker was mounted. The explosion damaged the loudspeaker.
Immediately after the attack, the Americans, though none of them had been hurt in the attack, fled the streets.
Resistance bomb blasts US troops in al-Falujah Friday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 12:20pm Makkah time midday Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol passing through the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood of al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad at 9am local time Friday morning.
The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bomb went off by a US patrol on the road leading to Saddat al-Fallujah, disabling a Humvee and moderately wounding four American soldiers. Witnesses said that US forces completely closed off the area and began a search of the streets and sidewalks looking for other bombs.
Al-Hadithah.
After two Americans reported shot dead by Resistance marksman, US military offers reward of US$50,000 for information leading to the capture or killing of the “al-Hadithah Sniper.”
In a dispatch posted at 11:45am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short time earlier US occupation forces had posted a reward of US$50,000 to anyone who can lead the occupation forces to the so-called “al-Hadithah Sniper” or can provide important information on him.
The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US forces made the announcement by loudspeaker, telling local residents that a reward of US$50,000 or 75 million Iraqi dinars would be paid to anyone helping to arrest or kill the “al-Hadithah Sniper.”
The American forces issued their announcement of the reward after two American soldiers were shot dead on Thursday night, killed by Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter’s bullets.

In a dispatch posted at 11:10am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces locked down the city of al-Hadithah, about 220km northwest of Baghdad, on Friday after a series of Resistance rocket attacks struck three US military positions in the city during the night.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces surrounded the city on all sides and imposed a curfew in al-Hadithah at dawn Friday. The Americans cut off electrical power and running water to the city and threatened to shoot on sight anyone outside of his or her house.
Al-Habbaniyah.
Massive explosion rocks US al-Habbaniyah base before dawn Friday
In a dispatch posted at 11am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a massive explosion rocked the US base in al-Habbaniyah, 69km west of Baghdad before dawn Friday morning.
The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the people of al-Habbaniyah started awake at 4am local time Friday morning when a massive explosion rocked the base. The cause of the blast was still unknown at the time of reporting. Local residents said that dense smoke covered the sky over the base and American helicopters were seen prowling the skies in the area after the blast.

Body of Palestinian tortured, murdered by pro-American Badr Brigade sectarians found in Baghdad Friday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 5:40pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the body of Hasan Rashid Abu al-Hayja was recovered in a garbage dump on Friday, one day after he was kidnapped by pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade gunmen in the al-Mansur area of Baghdad. Abu al-Hayja was a Palestinian who had lived for 20 years in Iraq and worked for the Palestine embassy in Baghdad.
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a medical source as saying that Abu al-Hayja’s body was handed over to the Forensic Medicine Center on Friday morning, bearing clear signs of torture. He was killed by a gunshot wound to the head. The source said Abu al-Hayja’s body was found in a garbage dump in a predominantly Shi‘i neighborhood of Baghdad.
American-installed regime imposes curfew Friday, preventing Sunnis from attending Friday mosque services.
In a dispatch posted at 10:30am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US-installed Iraqi puppet regime had imposed a curfew on Sunni areas of Baghdad beginning at 11am local time and ending at 3pm in order to prevent Sunnis from going to mosques for Friday congregational prayer services. The puppet regime has issued similar curfews, in effect banning Sunnis from holding their weekly congregational prayers, every Friday for nearly two months.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet regime has also announced a day long curfew for Sunni areas of Baghdad that is to be in force on Saturday, 19 August, a Shi‘i religious holiday.

Al-Mahawil.
Resistance rockets pound US base in al-Mahawil mid-morning Friday.
In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a rocket barrage at a US base in al-Mahawil, about 65km south of Baghdad at 10am local time Friday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance rockets blasted into the building now occupied by US forces that housed the Iraq Army’s heavy artillery school prior to the US invasion in the spring of 2003.
The correspondent reported eyewitnesses who live adjacent to the base as saying that the barrage lasted for about 10 minutes and set fires burning and pillars of smoke rising from numerous parts of the American-occupied base. US helicopters were seen prowling the skies over the facility after the attack.

Al-‘Amarah.
Resistance bombards British Abu Naji camp just south of al-‘Amarah.
In a dispatch posted at 3:10pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four mortar rounds and one Grad rocket into the main British “Abu Naji Camp,” 5km south of the city of al-‘Amarah in southeastern Iraq at dawn on Friday.
The al-‘Amarah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-‘Askari neighborhood around the camp a saying that three secondary explosions went off after the attack, but nothing was known about the nature or extent of casualties.
The correspondent noted that Abu Naji camp had come under a similar attack on Thursday night when a mortar shell blasted into the camp while two others landed in residential areas nearby, killing five local citizens according to a puppet police source.
