Fighting rages in ar-Ramadi as more than 70 Resistance men assault US headquarters Friday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 8:29pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce battles were going on at the time of writing between Resistance fighters and US Marines in the city of ar-Ramadi about 110km west of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that more than 70 Resistance men were attempting to storm the US headquarters in the Immigration building in the middle of the city, while other fighters battles Americans occupation troops in the area of the provincial government building.

The correspondent reported that the Resistance was pouring heavy salvos of Grad and Katyusha rockets and mortars onto the US headquarters throughout the city, but that US fighter bombers were striking the city in an attempt to repel Resistance fighters and relieve the pressure on the Americans on the ground. The fighting was still underway at the time the correspondent filed his report. In a dispatch posted at 8:49pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in the course of the fighting, Resistance men had destroyed a number of US occupation vehicles.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that they saw fires burning in the wrecked vehicles, noting that the Resistance rocket attacks had brought down the fa溝de of the building used by American forces as their headquarters ﾐ the immigration building. Mosques in ar-Ramadi used their loudspeaker systems to call on the faithfully to pray for the Resistance, the correspondent reported. In a dispatch posted at 9:56pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US helicopter gun ships and fighter planes were intensively pounding the city of ar-Ramadi at that hour, focusing on the area around the Immigration building and the provincial government building, both of which were under heavy assault by Resistance fighters.

Al-Hadithah.

Resistance fires four rockets into US headquarters in al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 7:06pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four rockets into the primary school building in al-Hadithah that US forces have taken over and turned into their local headquarters.

The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the rockets blasted into the former Umm al-Mu’minin ‘A’ishah Primary School for Girls in the middle of al-Hadithah, a facility that the Americans commandeered and turned into one of their local headquarters about a month ago.

Witnesses said that fire, dust and smoke rose over the facility and one could hear the screams and cries of the American troops inside the stricken facility as US helicopters flew in over the building. The area was closed off immediately after the attack so no information on the nature or extent of casualties was available.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance sharpshooter reportedly kills American soldier in al-Fallujah late Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:37pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed a US soldier at the Old Cinema intersection in al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad at about 11am local time Friday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the US soldier took a direct hit from a Resisatance sharpshooter’s bullet, killing him instantly. The US forces then closed the streets in the area.

Resistance car bomber blasts US column at dawn Friday.

In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Makkah time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US military column in al-Fallujah at dawn Friday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the traffic police as saying that the car bomb blasted a US column in the touristic area outside central al-Fallujah on the main road near the food storage facilities of Sami al-‘Abad. The blast destroyed one US vehicle and disabled a second, killing and wounding a number of US troops. American soldiers were still blocking roads to the area at the time of reporting.

Al-Qa’im.

US troops ban Friday prayers in al-Qa’im.

In a dispatch posted at 10:507am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier US occupation troops broadcast a statement in al-Qa’im in western Iraq near the Syrian border, banning Friday congregational prayers. They also blocked the entrances to mosques with their tanks. The al-Qa’im correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the occupation had put Abrams tanks at the gates of local mosques preventing anyone from attending Friday services. The Americans gave no reason for their ban. The correspondent added that US troops were meanwhile conducting mass arrests of people whose beards suggest that they are particularly religious.

Baghdad.

Bodies of 11 victims of Shi‘i sectarian murders found in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 7:16pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the al-Yarmuk Hospital in Baghdad had announced that during Friday morning and midday it had received 11 bodies of Sunni youths murdered by Shi‘i sectarian militias.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a medical source as sayig that the bodies were found in four different places ﾐ as-Saddah, behind the the so-called Madinat as-Sadr district where five of the bodies were discovered, all of them belonging to the Zawbi‘ tribe. Those victims had been abducted several days earlier when they were emptying containers loaded with Chinese produces in that Jamilah Market.

One body was found that displayed clear signs of torture on his back chest and lower abdomen. Four bodies were discovered in the ash-Shu‘lah area near the sheep market. The body of the muezzin of the al-Furqan Mosque in al-Kamaliyah was found in the ash-Sha‘b district. His eyes had been burst open, his fingers cut off, and he had been burnt with fire before being shot to death in the head.

US troops carry out mass raids and arrests in ad-Durah Thursday night.

In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops launched a campaign of raids, searches, and arrests in a large number of neighborhoods in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah. The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of ad-Durah as saying that US troops raided homes in the neighborhoods of al-Mu ‘allimin, al-Mahdiyah al-Ula, al-Mahdiyah ath-Thaniyah, ‘Arab Jabbur, and ash-Shaykh Salsal Thursday night. The campaign lasted for four hours, in the course of which dozens of local people were arrested. US forces carried out a similar sweep in the western Baghdad district of al-‘Amiriyah at the same time.

Resistance fighters mount assault on Kurdish separatist headquarters in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance mortars pounded the Baghdad headquarters of the pro-American Kurdish separatist National Union of Kurdistan party whose leader is the American-installed puppet “Iraqi President” Jalal Talibani. The shells destroyed the headquarters, killing and wounding a number of Kurdish separatists. The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters also attacked the building directly, firing medium machine guns and RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades.

US carries out nighttime raids, arresting men and women in western Baghdad’s al-‘Amiriyah district.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces launched a wave of indiscriminate arrests in al-‘Amiriyah in western Baghdad early on Friday morning.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US occupation forces arrested a large number of people, including women, continuing their campaign of raids and arrests during the night until 6am local time Friday morning.

The area in which the US troops carried out their raids covered the district adjacent to the at-Tikriti Mosque in al-‘Amiriyah. The sound of percussion grenades and gunfire going off could be heard all during the night from a long distance away.

Al-Mahawil.

Five US troops reported killed in early afternoon Resistance bombardment of base in al-Mahawil.

In a dispatch posted at 6:11pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces unleashed a bombardment on the former Iraqi Army artillery and combat school in al-Mahwawil about 65km south of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet army as saying that seven mortar rounds and four Katyusha rockets blasted into the joint US-Iraqi puppet army base set up in the former military academy at 1pm local time Friday afternoon, killing five US troops and wounding tree more of them.

Eight Iraqi puppet soldiers, including a commander were killed as well. US helicopters then flew in and American troops closed off the area and launched searchers and raids in villages and two neighboring groves. The source said that the Resistance attack had been the most violent in a long time.

Resistance bomb targets US patrol in al-Mawsil.

In a dispatch posted at 11:43am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol in the northern city of al-Mawsil at 9am local time Friday morning. The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Lieutenant Sa‘d Hayyawi of the local puppet police as saying that a bomb exploded in the al-Wahdah neighborhood of eastern al-Mawsil by a US patrol, disabling a Humvee and wounding four American troops. Afterward, US forces surrounded the entire area and prevented anyone from approaching, thereby making it impossible to learn any more details about the blast.

Al-‘Amarah.

British troops wounded in Resistance bomb attack in al-‘Amarah late Thursday night.

In a dispatch posted at 1:13pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a British patrol in al-‘Amarah in southeastern Iraq, late Thursday night. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Husayn area as saying that the blast disabled a vehicle, wounding three puppet troops, one of them seriously. He was seen being taken by stretcher aboard a helicopter for evacuation. After the attack, British occupation forces surrounded the area and arrested several local residents.
