Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

“At least” three US Marines killed in battle in ar-Ramadi Friday evening; American fire kills woman, child.

In a dispatch posted at 9:45pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier fierce combat broke out between Iraqi Resistance fighters and US troops in the al-Mal‘ab neighborhood of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad. The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local residents as saying that the fighting erupted when Resistance fighters ambushed an American Marines patrol in the al-Mal‘ab neighborhood of the city, killing at least three of the Americans.

The correspondent reported that the fighting, which was still underway at the time of reporting, was spreading as time went on. One Iraqi woman and her 12-year-old son were killed when US troops struck their home. The correspondent wrote that no one was able at that point to get to the woman’s house because of the intensity of the fighting in the area. Local residents were trying to get to the home, which was engulfed in flame, to recover the bodies.

Kubaysah.

Resistance fighters blow up building used by American troops in Kubaysah.

In a dispatch posted at 7:35pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces destroyed the former building of the Kubaysah Sports Club in the town of Kubaysah, about 200km west of Baghdad. The Kubaysa correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the former sports club building had been turned into a US military outpost at night from which American troops observe the city and snipe at local residents. Witnesses said that the Resistance planted explosives around the foundation of the two-story building and blew it up, razing to the ground on Friday morning.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance blasts US base in al-Fallujah with two Katyusha rockets Friday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 7:12pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces on Friday afternoon fired two Katyusha rockets at the main US headquarters in the middle of the city of al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad. The American headquarters is known locally as “as-Simak” ﾐ i.e., the American military acronym “CMAC” which stands for “Civilian Military Assistance Center.”

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of al-Jadid Street in al-Fallujah as saying that a plume of black smoke and dust rose from the US facility after the two rockets blasted into it. US vehicles and troops were seen racing from the base in fear that more missiles might be targeting the facility. The entire area was sealed off, making information on the nature or extent of US casualties impossible to obtain.

Al-Qa’im.

US aircraft strikes border area between Iraq, Syria Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Makkah time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a US fighter plane struck areas in the border strip that divides Iraq from Syria on Friday. The al-Qa’im correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who live in the Makr adh-Dhib area five kilometers from the Syrian border as saying that an American fighter plane struck desert areas in the strip that lies between the Iraqi and Syrian border outposts. The reason for the American air strike were unclear. The correspondent pointed out that the no-man’s-land along the border is empty desert country with no buildings. The Americans were therefore probably targeting individuals trying to cross the frontier in an area where there are many border crossings by individuals on foot.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Resistance pounds US al-Habbaniyah base Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:40am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters carried out a series of rocket attacks on the US base in al-Habbaniyah, 97km west of Baghdad Friday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance fired five rockets into the US base in al-Habbaniyah at 8am local time Friday morning.

A short while later, a mortar shell landed on the US base. This was, in turn, was followed by a violent barrage of nine Katyusha rockets that blasted into the same base. Residents of the village of al-Bu Mar‘i, which is four kilometers north of the US base, reported that minutes after the bombardments, US Medevac helicopters were seen landing in the base to evacuate the casualties.

Baghdad.

Women fighters have carried out 76 martyrdom attacks on the US occupation and its supporters since the US occupied Iraq in spring 2003.

The Iraqi Organization for Follow-Up and Observation (“Mi‘mar”) issued a statement on Friday in which it said that after research through announcements and communiqu市 issued by the Iraqi Resistance, it had been able to conclude that from the US invasion of Iraq in the spring of 2003 until the end of July 2006, a total of 76 women had carried out self-sacrificing martyrdom operations against the occupation and its supporters.

Of those, 23 of the martyred women were married. The female human bombs ranged in age from 18 to 40 years. “Mi‘mar” reported that in all 71 martyrdom attacks were carried out by women in Baghdad and the provinces of Salah ad-Din, Ninwa, al-Anbar, Diyala, and at-Ta’mim. The five remaining martyrdom operations carried out by women fighters took place in the provinces of al-Basrah, Maysan, Wasit, and Babil.

Diyala Province.

Ba ‘qubah.

US troops make mass arrests, ransack mosque, desecrate copies of the Qur’an in al-Hadid, west of Ba‘qubah Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:55am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces launched a campaign of mass arrests in the town of al-Hadid, west of Ba ‘qubah, about 65km northeast of Baghdad at dawn on Friday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from the city that the arrests took place in the large al-Hadid Mosque in the town, which was attacked by American troops. Witnesses said that the Americans desecrated copies of the Qur’an, kicking them around.

They also broke windows and furniture in the mosque and used their tanks violently to rip down the fence outside the house of worship. The correspondent reported that a large number of youths were arrested in the American sweep, but the exact number was not available due to the curfew that the US forces imposed on the area, which was still in force at the time of reporting.

Al-Miqdadiyah.

Resistance car bomber blasts into US patrol in al-Miqdadiyah early Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 9:55am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a powerful Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US patrol that had been driving about the neighborhoods of al-Ba‘th, al-Mu ‘allimin, and ash-Shurtah in the city of al-Miqdadiyah, about 85km northeast of Baghdad, since 5am Friday morning.

The al-Miqdadiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police in al-Miqdadiyah who asked not to be identified as saying that the Resistance fighter drove an explosives packed Volkswagen into the US column, destroying an American Humvee and wounding all aboard. Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the attack took place at about 6am local time Friday morning, killing those aboard and damaging other vehicles as well.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

Resistance bomb blasts puppet army patrol near Kirkuk.

In a dispatch posted at 4:30pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb went off by a patrol of the 4th battalion of the Iraqi puppet army at the Kirkuk ad-Dibs junction at 11:15am local time Friday morning. The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that according to preliminary reports, the bomb killed at least four Iraqi puppet troops, including an officer, and wounded another five of them. The wounded men were taken to Kirkuk General Hospital in the middle of the city for treatment.

Ninwa Province.

Al-Mawsil.

Resistance batters US al-Ghazlani base in al-Mawsil with powerful mortar barrage.

In a dispatch posted at 4:57pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces blasted the US-occupied al-Ghazlani base in the northern Iraqi city of al-Mawsil with 17 mortar rounds on Friday. The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the shells that pounded the American camp ranged from 82mm mortar rounds to heavy 120mm shells. Eyewitnesses reported seeing plumes of smoke billowing up from the American base as US helicopters flew in over the area. In keeping with the standard secretiveness of the US occupation forces, no information on the nature or extent of casualties was disclosed.

Fighting rages between Iraqi Resistance and US forces together with their puppet allies in al-Mawsil Friday morning.

In a bulletin posted at 10:45am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier fierce fighting had broken out and was still going on between Resistance forces and US troops accompanied by their Iraqi puppet army allies in the middle of the northern Iraqi city of al-Mawsil. In the course of the fighting, an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by the US and puppet troops. Then, in a dispatch posted at 11:50am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier three Iraqi Resistance car bombs had exploded in various parts of al-Mawsil. In addition Iraqi Resistance forces had bombarded four puppet police stations with mortars.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that meanwhile fighting between the Resistance and US Marines accompanied by Kurdish separatist Peshmergah Asayish gunmen as well as puppet “Iraqi Emergency” forces continued. The fighting at that hour was concentrated in the neighborhoods of al-Jaza’ir, al-Wahdah, and al-Yarmuk and was also raging in large parts of the left (northeastern) bank of the Tigirs River, which divides the city from the northwest to the southeast. The correspondent reported that severe losses had been inflicted on the Iraqi puppet forces and US troops.

Preliminary accounts indicated that a puppet police commander for al-Mawsil and a colonel in the city puppet police were among the dead. Mafkarat al-Islam later refuted a Reuters report saying that the puppet police chief had been killed. In fact, the correspondent said, Brigadier General Jasim Muhammad, the commander of the Emergency Forces was the high-ranking puppet commander who had been killed in the fighting. US forces attempted to rescue the puppet general but he was killed before they could get to him. More than nine pro-American Kurdish Separatist Asayish gunmen were also killed. US troops imposed a curfew, closed off the city of al-Mawsil from the outside world, and completely shut down the bridges in the city.

As fighting spreads and US brings in reinforcements, all Iraqi Resistance organizations join battle with American Marines and puppet forces in al-Mawsil. . .

The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source lose to the Resistance as saying that in the course of the combat, three US Humvees had been destroyed and the soldiers inside them killed. More than 70 puppet troops and Peshmergah Kurdish separatist militiamen were killed or wounded according to the source.

Resistance forces destroyed three puppet police stations in mortar attacks.

A number of Resistance fighters were also killed and wounded in the approximately four hours of battle. The US occupation forces claimed that the Resistance (whom they called “terrorists,” had lost more than 20 fighters, but local residents refuted such claims. The residents said that the number of Resistance fighters killed in the battle had been small and that only one of them had been taken prisoner when he tried to drag a wounded Resistance fighter from the an-Nur neighborhood. The correspondent reported that al-Mawsil was under an intense security clampdown as raids and searches by the Americans and the puppet forces spread throughout the city. Dr. Khalaf al-Qaysi of al-Mawsil General Hospital confirmed that his institution had received dozens of dead and wounded Iraqi puppet security men after the battle.

In a dispatch posted at 2:15pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a violent explosion had shaken the ancient city of al-Hadar (Hatra) 120km south of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an explosives-laden car blasted into the puppet police station near the al-Hadar sports field. Preliminary hospital reports indicated that 23 puppet police and pro-American Kurdish separatist Peshmergah militiamen had been killed or wounded in the powerful blast.
