テヘランの核野心を抑える提案にイランがどう反応するか、西側が固唾をのんで見守る中、8月15日付クリスチャン・サイエンス・モニター紙（http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0825/dailyUpdate.html）は、「研究によれば、アメリカの対テロ戦争による『最大の受益者』はイラン」と題して、２種類の研究結果が出ていることを紹介している。
１つは、アメリカがアフガニスタンとイラクで、それぞれタリバン勢力とフセイン政権を除去あるいは弱体化したことによって、イランが中東、トルコ、コーカサス、及び中央アジアと南アジアにおいて、重要かつ強力な国にのし上がった、というもの。
いま１つは、アメリカのイラン認識が貧弱だと批判するものだ。
クリスチャン・サイエンス・モニター紙が挙げている研究や報道の主なものを列挙する。

A key House committee issued a stinging critique of U.S. intelligence on Iran yesterday, charging that the CIA and other agencies lack "the ability to acquire essential information necessary to make judgments" on Tehran's nuclear program, its intentions or even its ties to terrorism.

A New York Times Editorial appears to be something of a non-CIA rendered intelligence report on what the GOP has in mind for the Fall. I say non-CIA, because it's scary to be sure.
