Iraqi Resistance bombards joint US-Iraqi puppet camp near al-Qa’im.

In a dispatch posted at 11:33am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five 82mm mortar rounds at the headquarters jointly occupied by US and Iraqi puppet troops in al-‘Ubaydi, east of the city of al-Qa’im, which is near the border with Syria in western Iraq. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-‘Ubaydi as saying that the joint headquarters took direct hits from the mortar shells, which sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

Al-Hadithah.

Five American troops reported killed in series of Resistance attacks on US forces in al-Hadithah area.

In a dispatch posted at 11:25am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces mounted coordinated attacks on US forces in the as-Sabhanib area of al-Hadithah, about 300km northwest of Baghdad. The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the city as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons attacked an American foot patrol in the as-Sabhanib area, killing two US soldiers and wounding four more of them. After that attack, US forces surrounded the area but then an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed one more American soldier.

Eyewitnesses reported that in a separate incident an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot one of the American troops who were surrounding al-Hadithah General Hospital, killing him instantly. In another attack in the area, Iraqi Resistance forces armed with light and medium weapons and pipe rockets attacked a US camp in the Barwanah area northeast of al-Hadithah, destroying parts of the camp and killing one more US soldier and severely wounding five more of them. Following all of those attacks, US troops imposed a total curfew on the city of al-Hadithah, beginning at dawn. All approaches to the city were closed, and certain neighborhoods were surrounded in preparation for American house-to-house raids, searches, and arrests.

Al-Fallujah.

Two US troops reported killed in Resistance bombing in al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 1:05pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the main road in southern al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the Jubayl area as saying that a bomb on the as-Sadd road in the south of the city blew up by a US column , completely destroying an American Humvee and killing two US troops. Three more American soldiers were severely wounded in the attack. At the time of reporting, US troops and their Iraqi puppet army allies were still surrounding and blocking all approaches to the area where the attack took place.

Resistance stages deadly ambush of US column in al-Karmah near al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 10:25am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters carried out a well-planned ambush on a US military column in the al-Karmah area east of the city of al-Fallujah. The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Karmah as saying that the Resistance attack began with the explosion of a bomb by the US column on the main road between the middle of al-Karmah and the ar-Rufah area. The blast destroyed an American Zeal troop transport vehicle. After the explosion, Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons and rocket launchers pounced on the column, completely destroying two Humvees and killing or wounding at least 18 US soldiers.

Le Figaro: 1,300 Iraqi Resistance attacks in greater Baghdad alone in June. Secret American report shows US minimizing Resistance attacks, focusing attention on al-Qa‘idah car bombings to divert attention from highly effective “complex attacks” by hard core Iraqi Army Resistance fighters.

A secret American report has confirmed that the US occupation forces in Iraq are trying to hide the real strength of the Iraqi Resistance. The report, information from which has been acquired and published by the French newspaper le Figaro, discloses that there were 1,300 Resistance attacks in greater Baghdad alone in the single month of June 2006. Georges Malbrurot in his le Figaro article published on 8 July refuted claims made by the American-installed puppet “Iraqi ministries of defense, the interior, and health,” which indicated that in the month of May only 26 car bombing, 65 bomb explosions, two martyrdom operations, and 60 attacks with rocket-propelled grenades took place ﾐ i.e., an average of five violent attacks per day.

In fact, Malbrunet wrote, the truth was much more deadly. According to the data contained in the secret American report, a copy of which he had obtained, the number of homemade bomb explosions in May was 260, the number of rocket-propelled grenade attacks was 120 ﾐ ten times the official count. The secret report noted that since February 2006, the Resistance carried out one complex operation in Baghdad every day, in which some 50 men and 10 vehicles took part. Most of the operations, the report said, were being carried out by soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Iraq (the Iraqi army from the period of President Saddam Husayn’s rule). Malbrunot wrote that according to the secret report, the US occupation forces “have been trying to hide the facts about those complex attacks, which reflect the effectiveness of the hard core of the guerrilla movement, preferring to report on the ‘suicide attacks’ carried out by ‘foreign’ jihadi fighters” of al-Qa‘idah ﾐ the American nemesis so highly touted by the US media.

Former CIA operative says: US will lose in Iraq if it doesn’t kill more civilians.

Former US CIA analyst Mike Scheuer told the BBC on Saturday that the US will lose its war in Iraq if it is not prepared to kill more innocent civilians and to accept more American casualties. “We have to stop fighting as if we really truly believe the nonsense that we can fight wars without killing innocents and not losing many people ourselves,” the BBC quoted Scheuer as saying. Mike Scheuer headed the CIA unit tasked with trying to capture Usamah bin Ladin in the late 1990s, but quit the agency in 2004 because he felt that uncritical and unwavering US support for the Zionist state “Israel” was undercutting America’s ability to mould the Arab-Islamic region according to US desires.

The BBC quoted Scheuer as saying: “notwithstanding the rhetoric that comes out of Washington, we’re clearly losing.” Scheuer said added that “if you’re not willing to kill civilians, or to assume that there is a likelihood that innocents are going to be killed, you have no business fighting” against an armed popular Resistance. The former CIA unit chief was morally untroubled by the human cost of fighting such a war, telling the BBC that, “my ethical views are constrained by my duties to protect the United States, and as long as we’re operating within the laws of our Republic, then I have no objection to whatever is done.” Scheuer asserted that such an attitude was in keeping with the thinking of most Americans, noting that “if Palestine, or ‘Israel’, or Bolivia, or Belgium, disappeared from the face of the Earth tomorrow, it would not make a lick of difference to any person in the United States.”

Four US troops reported killed in two-hour battle with Resistance in ad-Durah, south of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 10:15am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a US patrol in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in ad-Durah as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons and rocket launchers attacked the US patrol in the as-Sihhah neighborhood of ad-Durah, sparking a battle that lasted for more than two hours. In the course of the fighting, Iraqi Resistance men set fire to two American Humvees and killed four US troops and wounded seven more of them, witnesses said.

Al-Miqdadiyah.

Resistance bomb blasts US military vehicle north of al-Miqdadiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 1:10pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a joint column of US and Iraqi puppet troops in al-Miqdadiyah, about 85km northeast of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Miqdadiyah a as saying that the bomb that was planted by the main road to the north of the city went off as a joint column drove past on its way to the Jabu villages north of the city. The blast destroyed one American armored vehicke, killing or wounding its four man American crew.

US forces pull back after day and night of unsuccessful assaults on Resistance fighters in al-Miqdadiyah area.

In a dispatch posted at 8:41am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces failed to storm into the areas they were attacking and trying to seize control of in al-Miqdadiyah and its environs, some 85km northeast of Baghdad on Friday and during Friday-Saturday night. The Americans and their Iraqi puppet allies pulled back following their unsuccessful attack on Resistance positions in the area. The al-Miqdadiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that when the sun rose Saturday the remains of six US military vehicles were revealed. One US military gunboat was destroyed and four pickups belonging to the Iraqi puppet military were also burned. Six military personnel were taken prisoner, including the deputy commander of the puppet “Scorpion Brigade.” A source in the Iraqi Resistance in al-Miqdadiyah told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance had lost six men martyred and 19 men wounded, five of those in serious condition. The correspondent reported that as of early Saturday morning, the situation in al-Miqdadiyah was calmer following the withdrawal of American occupation troops and their Iraqi puppet army allies. But roads leading out of al-Miqdadiyah were still blocked by US forces, meaning that sunrise Saturday meant that the fifth day of a US blockade on the city had dawned.

In a dispatch posted at 10:32am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired seven 82mm mortar rounds into the headquarters of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir) in the city of al-Yusufiyah, about 30km southwest of Baghdad. The al-Yusufiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the mortar shells scored direct hits on the headquarters, sending plumes of smoke rising into the sky from every part of the base.

Kirkuk.

Resistance fighters kill four pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade gunmen in Kirkuk.

In a dispatch posted at 10:55am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot and killed four members of the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade militia in the ad-Dumiz area of Kirkuk in northern Iraq. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in ad-Dumiz as saying that Resistance fighters equipped with light arms attacked a car carrying four Badr Brigade gunmen. The Resistance men killed the Badr Brigade militiamen and then withdrew from the area having suffered no casualties. Upon investigation of the bodies, it was determined that they were members of the pro-American Badr Brigade militia operating in the al-Miqdadiyah area, about 85km northeast of Baghdad.

Resistance blasts British Camp Abu Naji with Katyusha rockets.

In a dispatch posted at 10:18am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four medium-range Katyusha rockets at the British Abu Naji camp in the city of al-‘Amarah, about 60km from the Iranian border in southeastern Iraq at dawn Saturday. The al-‘Amarah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Wahdah neighborhood near the base as saying that the barrage set off explosions and sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky over the British-occupied facility.
