Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Al-Qa’im.
? Resistance battles US troops in al-Qa’im Friday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that violent fighting erupted between Resistance men and US occupation troops on the western outskirts of al-Qa’im, a city near the Syrian border in far western Iraq.
The al-Qa’im correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fighting broke out suddenly about a half an hour before he filed his report. The sound of explosions still reverberated in the western part of the city. No further details were initially available.
Al-Fallujah.
? Resistance mortars blast puppet police station in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 3:05pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired three heavy 120mm mortar rounds at the puppet police station in the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah suburb, 7km southwest of the city of al-Fallujah at 1pm local time midday Friday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the area as saying that they heard explosions going off inside the puppet police station, meaning that the Resistance shells had struck home. Announcements over mosque loudspeakers said tht there were wounded in the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah housing complex hospital but the number of wounded, or of dead, if any were killed, was not disclosed.
Baghdad.
? Resistance fighters battle puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” troops in ad-Durah, hold neighborhood for nearly three hours.
In a dispatch posted at 7:35pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fighting raged between Iraqi Resistance men and puppet troops of the so-called “Falcoln Brigade” (“Liwa’ as-Saqr”) in the al-Mu‘allimin neighborhood in the middle of ad-Durah, a southern suburb of Baghdad.
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Iraqi Resistance seized control of the area for nearly three hours as Resistance fighters deployed in the streets and lanes of the neighborhood. There they attacked vehicles belonging to the puppet forces, setting three puppet “Interior Ministry” vehicles on fire. Six puppet troops were killed and four more wounded in the combat.
For its part the puppet “Interior Ministry” issued a statement on Friday afternoon in which it claimed to have clashed with “terrorists” ミ meaning the Resistance ミ who, it said, were forced to retreat. The correspondent pointed out that the puppet “Interior Ministry” communiqu was typical of the press releases issued after engagements with the Resistance, because it made no mention of casualties among the puppet troops.
Eyewitnesses in the area told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance fighters only withdrew when American vehicles and armor-plated Humvees drove into the area under cover of swarms of helicopter gun ships. The witnesses confirmed that one Resistance fighter was wounded in the battle, but he was taken away by his comrades when they withdrew from the area.
? For third week in a row, puppet regime imposes shoot-to-kill curfew on Sunni parts of Baghdad, prohibiting Sunni Iraqis from holding weekly Friday congregational prayer services.
In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that for the third Friday in a row, Sunni Iraqis in Baghdad were prohibited from holding Friday congregational prayer services or sermons per a decree by the puppet Regime that impsed a curfew on people and cars in predominantly Sunni districts of Baghdad.
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported members of the Iraqi puppet army and puppet police deployed in large numbers at the entrances and exits of largely Sunni areas of the occupied Iraqi capital, setting up re-enforced road blocks there.
The correspondent reported that Sunni mosques appeared empty except for a few people who snuck in for the weekly Friday congregational prayer service. Some mosques, particularly in the districts of as-Salikh and Baghdad al-Jadidah were completely locked up.
As they always do every Friday, American occupation troops accompanied by translators carried out massive patrols around Sunni mosques. Normally the translators interpret the sermon for the Americans who rush in to arrest the Imam and prominent worshippers if they hear anything being said against the occupation or in support of the Resistance. Today, however, the correspondent noted, there is nothing for the interpreters to translate, since the pulpits are empty because of the daytime curfew on Sunni districts, imposed today for the third Friday in a row.
In a dispatch posted at 2:45pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, the American-installed Iraqi puppet “government” had announced that the curfew imposed during the day Friday in the occupied Iraqi capital would be extended from 11am Friday morning until 6am Saturday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the western Baghdad district of al-‘Amiriyah reported that the Iraqi puppet army threatened to kill anyone whom they see outside his house for whatever reason.
? Resistance bombards headquarters of puppet “Shock Troops” in ad-Durah early Friday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 2:40pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five mortar rounds into the headquarters of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 8:15am Friday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local residents in the area as saying that plumes of smoke rose over the headquarters and ambulances were seen going into the headquarters. A source in the Iraqi puppet army said that the barrage killed or wounded seven persons, including one “Shock Troop” officer.
? Resistance fighters kill 10 pro-American Badr Brigade gunmen coming to Hayfa Street in Baghdad to attack Palestinian refugees ミ known to Iraqis as “the orphans of Iraq.”
In a dispatch posted at 10:55am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, at least 10 pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade gunmen were killed and others injured when Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked them on Baghdad’s Hayfa Street.
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from Hayfa Street in the as-Salihiyah area of the occupied Iraqi capital that dozens of armed Shi‘i sectarian militiamen had tried to enter the area largely inhabited by Iraqi Sunnis and Palestinian refugees. Local residents said that the pro-American attackers wore bandanas that read “Ya Husayn” on their heads as they stormed into the neighborhood heavily armed in pickup trucks. The sectarian gunmen tried to go up into apartment buildings where Palestinians live, but local Iraqis equipped only with light weapons rushed to intercept them. A gunbattle erupted that lasted for 10 minutes and then Iraqi Resistance men armed with light and medium weapons, as well as rocket-propelled grenades and hand grenades arrived on the scene. The Resistance men called to the local residents to go into their homes and let them take care of the attacking pro-American sectarian gangs.
Within half an hour four of the Badr Brigade vehicles were ablaze and 25 of the Shi‘i sectarians were dead or wounded. Early reports said that 10 of the sectarians were killed and the rest wounded. The Resistance counterattack forced the pro-American Badr Brigade gunmen to flee, running away on foot, their vehicles in flames, local people reported. After the pro-American gunmen had dispersed, the Resistance troops left the streets.
Local witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that Jalal as-Saghir, the Imam of the Buratha Shi‘i mosque was backing up the pro-American Shi ‘ sectarian gunmen. The Buratha Shi‘i mosque, which is also the headquarters of the Badr Brigades, is only two kilometers from Hayfa Street
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the Badr Brigades have begun to attack areas where Palestinian refugees live on a virtually daily basis, arresting, then torturing and murdering them. The local people refer to the murdered Palestinians as the “Iraqi orphan victims.” The correspondent reported that since the American invasion of Iraq, Iraqis have come to call the Palestinians “orphans” because no government would or could offer them protection or support ミ neither the so-called Palestine Authority, set up under the auspices of the American-Zionist Oslo Agreements, nor the puppet regime in Baghdad set up by the American occupation.
Later, in a dispatch posted at 3:25pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that puppet army forces were still surrounding the Hayfa Street area and the ar-Rahmaniyah area and the ash-Shaykh Ma‘ruf district at that hour in the afternoon. They were preventing any journalist with a camera from approaching the area where the fighting had occurred because the bodies of the dead pro-American gunmen still lay strewn about Hayfa Street.
? Muezzin and son kidnapped, tortured, murdered by pro-American Shi‘i sectarian militiamen Thursday evening.
In a dispatch posted at 11:10am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that pro-American Shi‘i sectarian militias kidnapped the muezzin of the ar-Rahmaniyah Mosque in the Baghdad district of ash-Shu‘lah on Thursday evening together with his son.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a medical source as saying that the body of Shaykh Sa‘d Ibrahim and his son were found tortured and shot in the head in a garbage dump in the occupied Iraqi capital.
Residents of the neighborhood said that armed Shi‘i sectarian gunmen drove in in civilian cars and attacked the house of Shaykh Sa‘d Ibrahim, 65, located near the mosque. His body was found two hours later in a garbage dump in the eastern part of the city.
Salah ad-Din Province.
Tikrit.
? Iraqi Resistance seen behind fire that destroys puppet provincial government building in Tikrit, destroying construction contracts, pay registers for puppet security forces.
In a dispatch posted at 11:30am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a massive fire broke out in the puppet provincial government building for Salah ad-Din Province in the middle of Tikrit, about 1180km north of Baghdad on Thursday night.
The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the fire quickly spread throughout the upper floors of the building setting the whole structure ablaze. The correspondent reported Nuri Ghalib, a lieutenant in the puppet police in Tikrit as saying that the fire completely destroyed the provincial archive, including construction contracts and registers of pay for Iraqi puppet security forces in the city.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported the source as saying that an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the fire, but officials in the puppet administration were crediting the Iraqi Resistance with the blaze.
Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.
? Shi‘i sectarian militias detonate bomb in Ba‘qbuah as Sunni worshippers leave mosque, killing nine. Two bombers later apprehended by townspeople.
In a report posted at 7:30pm Makkah time Friday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 10 worshippers had been killed and another 22 wounded in a new attack on a Sunni mosque in the Hibhib area north of Ba‘qubah, about 65km northeast of Baghdad.
In an early bulletin posted at 2:27pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the area reported an explosives expert in Ba‘qubah as saying that that armed Shi‘i sectarians planted a bomb at the entrance to the ash-Shahid Mosque, which went off as worshippers came out after Friday prayers. Nine of the worshippers were killed and four more wounded in the blast according to preliminary figures issued then.
Later, the correspondent quoted a medical source in the Ba‘qubah General Hospital as the source for the final casualty toll of 10 dead and 22 wounded. The mosque itself was heavily damaged in the blast, as were numerous private cars parked along the street.
In a dispatch posted at 9:10pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the people of Hibhib had arrested the person who set the bomb that exploded by a Sunni mosque in the town, killing 10 people as they came out after prayers.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that local townspeople arrested Hadi Nasir at-Tamimi, a member of the Badr Brigades and a second man who was with him in an Opel car. They were picked up as they tried to plant another bomb at a second mosque in Hibhib before the nighttime (‘Isha’) prayers on Friday.
The correspondent reported that after local people soundly beat them, at-Tamimi and his companion confessed to being responsible for the midday bombing that killed 10 people.
Ninwa Province.
Al-Mawsil.
? Religious leader reveals: US try to bribe Sunni Imams into muting opposition to US occupation.
In a dispatch posted at 5:15pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported Sunni religious leaders in the northern city of al-Mawsil as saying that US forces had been trying to bribe them into softening their rhetoric against the occupation.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in his sermon at the Friday congregational prayer services, Shaykh Muhammad al-Khatib declared that US occupation forces offered inticing rewards to religious scholars and Imams of mosques. Salaries of up to US$5,000 per month plus a car were offered to the religious leaders and the Americans also promised to build mosques for them in return for their abandoning their hostile tone against the occupation and ignore the massacres that the Americans were committing in al-Mawsil.
Al-Khatib told worshippers that the Americans, via middle men who work in the provincial government office building, offered these enticements to more than 50 Imams and scholars. The Americans’ stipulation s were written out on sheet of paper that the Imams were supposed to sign if they accepted them. Afterwards they could come and receive their monthly salary and car as well as a guarantee that the US would build a mosque for them.
Imam al-Khatib told the worshipers that the Sunni religious leaders spit on the papers and the messengers and tore up the documents, refusing to accept the American bribes.
Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah.
? Shi‘i sectarian militias seen behind bombing that kills 10 civilians in al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a mysterious bomb exploded on 14 Tammuz Street in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah on Friday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that 10 people were killed and 15 more wounded in the blast. Puppet “Iraqi National Guard” troops and puppet security forces closed streets leading to the scene of the explosion. Heavy damage was observed on buildings near where the bomb went off.
Bombings in al-Basrah are on the rise, the correspondent observed, in the aftermath of the visit by the US-installed puppet “Prime Minister” Nuri al-Maliki on 31 May, which was the occasion for the announcement of curfews in the city. Pro-American Shi‘i sectarian militias are widely suspected by city residents of being behind the bombings, as they try to prevent the central government from gaining full control over what they see as their fiefdom in al-Basrah.
? Resistance bombards British occupation headquarters in al-Basrah Thursday night.
In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Makkah time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired six mortar rounds at the headquarters of the British occupation command ni the middle of al-Basrah on Thursday night.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam could not ascertain the nature or extent of British casualties, but reported eyewitnesses as saying that some of the shells landed on neighboring houses, wounding eight civilians. Afterwards puppet forces were observed closing streets and firing into the air.
The British headquarters in al-Basrah regularly comes under Resistance attack at night, but the Thursday night barrage was the most violent in some time, the correspondent reported.
