US suddenly closes Iraq-Syria border crossing near al-Qa’im.

In a dispatch posted at 3:27pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at dawn on Saturday US occupation forces closed the highway to the border crossing between Iraq and Syria in western Iraq.The al-Qa’im correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US forces suddenly closed the road that crosses the border 30km west of al-Qa’im in the face of people still leaving and entering Iraq.

The witnesses said that swarms of US helicopters were prowling the skies at low altitude over the border strip that divides the two states, while US forces warned the people of the nearby towns such as al-‘Ubaydi and Makr adh-Dhib and the surrounding areas that they would arrest anyone using Syrian cellular phones because the Iraqi Resistance ﾐ they claimed ﾐ uses them. The correspondent reported that many residents of the al-Qa’im area have taken up using the Syrian cellular telephone systems, whose signals reach some Iraqi border towns from the nearby Syrian cities, because the US occupation its puppet regime in Baghdad have shut off the Iraqi cell phone networks in their area.

Ar-Ramadi.

Veteran Iraqi Army commander warns Resistance against “ar-Ramadi sponge,” saying US aims to draw in to that city and destroy as many Resistance fighters as it can.

In a dispatch posted at 7:45pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a former commander in the Iraqi army during the war with Iran in the 1980s has warned the Iraqi Resistance against what he believes to be an American attempt to isolate and defeat a large number of Resistance forces in the city of ar-Ramadi ﾐ now under American blockade.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from the northern city of al-Mawsil that Staff Lieutenant General Ahmad al-‘Ubaydi of the Army of the Republic of Iraq, former commander of the 3rd Brigade during the battle to liberate the Island of Faw during the Iraq-Iran war in 1987 told Mafkarat al-Islam that the American plan aims at exausting the Resistance in ar-Ramadi. Lieutenant General al-‘Ubaydi warned against what he called the ‘ar-Ramadi sponge’, saying that what the Americans are trying to do in that city “is to attract and suck in to ar-Ramadi the largest number of Resistance fighters possible, and then to strike them with aircraft and massively destructive weapons as they did to the Resistance in al-Fallujah.”

General al-‘Ubaydi said that a number of top former Iraqi Army commanders were sending a letter to the High Command of the Iraqi Resistance in ar-Ramadi. He said that the message contained details of the plan that the occupation forces would possibly use against that city. In their message, the Iraqi veteran commanders also offered their advice based on their military experience, General al-‘Ubaydi told Mafkarat al-Islam.Mafkarat al-Islam noted that after the American invasion, the Iraqi Resistance had absorbed in its ranks a large number of commanders in the Army of the Republic of Iraq who had served under President Saddam Husayn. In fact, Mafkarat al-Islam went on, there is hardly any Resistance organization of note that does not include several such veteran military commanders whose battlefield experience is serving the continued struggle against the US occupation.

In addition, Mafkarat al-Islam noted, veteran Iraqi arms industry officers had developed numerous weapons now being used by the Iraqi Resistance, and that for that reason, the Iraqi Resistance is on a higher technical level despite the relative youth of the struggle as compared with the resistance movement in Afghanistan, for example. As a matter of fact US forces have been attributing the recent improvement in the performance of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan to the arrival of military technology already in use among the Iraqi Resistance.

US troops take over mosque, turn it into a headquarters for themselves in ar-Ramadi Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:09pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces invaded and seized control of one of the largest mosques in ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad, on Saturday, turning the house of worship into one of their headquarters and posting snipers on its roof. The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the al-Qadi Mosque in the middle of the city, one of the largest cathedral mosques in ar-Ramadi, was stormed by US troops and military vehicles. The Americans took it over and piled sand bags at its gates as US snipers took up positions on the roof of the building. The al-Qadi Mosque is the seventh mosque that US forces have expropriated and desecrated in the last six months.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance fires barrage of four rockets into US camp west of al-Fallujah early Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 3:11pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a rocket barrage at a US military camp in the village of al-Halabisah, west of al-Fallujah, at about 5am local time at dawn on Saturday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported villagers as saying that four Resistance rockets blasted into the village primary school that the Americans had taken over as their local headquarters. The witnesses said that US helicopters arrived in the area afterward, but the correspondent was unable to ascertain the nature or extent of US casualties in the attack.

Al-Hadithah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:01pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces launched a campaign of mass arrests in the areas of as-Subhaniyah and al-Haqlaniyah, north and east of al-Hadithah, about 300km northwest of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that American troops accompanied by the Iraqi puppet army assistants and enjoying air cover from helicopter gun ships arrested at least 35 Iraqis ranging in age from 15 to 50.

Local residents told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Americans also wanted to arrest one 11-year-old boy because he was big for his age. The Americans said, “this boy can carry a gun,” the villagers said, but then the boys tears and cries persuaded the American officer to let him go. On Friday and then on Saturday morning, US forces used loudspeakers to order the local people to inform on any correspondents who enter the city trying to investigate the now well-known al-Hadithah massacre of November 2005 or any other matters.

Resistance bomb in Hit targets US military vehicle Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:48pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded near a US military vehicle in the middle of Hit, about 170km northwest of Baghdad at 9am local time Saturday morning. The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bomb went off on al-Khayyatin Street and was targeted on a US military vehicle. The explosive device went off after the vehicle had passed by, however, and as a result three civilians were killed and a fourth wounded, but the American vehicle was unscathed. American forces have been equipped with electronic devices for their vehicles that jam detonator signals as they drive along the roads. Once the American vehicles have passed, however, the bombs explode, killing or wounding people who happen to be in the area.

Baghdad.

Resistance fighters ambush puppet police patrol killing five.

In a dispatch posted at 6:10pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed an Iraqi puppet police patrol in eastern Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the Sadr al-Qanat area of Baghdad reported local eyewitnesses as saying that four Iraqi Resistance men armed with medium machine guns waited behind a puppet “Ministry of Trade” flour selling agency and then ambushed the puppet police patrol when it came by along the main street in the area.

The witnesses said that the puppet policemen tried to returned fire but the Resistance fighters were too fast for them. Five puppet policemen were killed and four more of them wounded. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam took a photograph of the puppet policemen wounded in the ambush as they were being lay in an operating room in al-Kindi Hospital in Baghdad. Resistance bomb kills sectarian Badr Brigade field commander and aides as they leave US “Green Zone” headquarters.

In a dispatch posted at 2:55pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a car carrying a pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade field commander and four aides as they left the high-security area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad ﾐ the district dubbed the “Green Zone” by the US forces. A Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police in the Baghdad district of as-Salihiyah as saying that Abu Wisam al-Ka‘bi, a Badr Brigade field commander, and four of his aides were killed in the blast. After the attack, US occupation troops and puppet police completely surrounded the area.

Gangs of Shi‘i criminals launch rampage through Sunni homes near Buratha Mosque headquarters of Badr Brigades, following Friday bomb attack.

In a dispatch posted at 8:15pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier pro-American Shi‘i sectarian gangs were reported raiding a number of homes of Sunni Iraqis located in the vicinity of the Buratha Shi‘i mosque headquarters of the Badr Brigades that was the target on Friday of a Resistance fida’i bomber attack. Some 13 people were reported killed in the bombing, most of them members of the pro-American Badr Brigade militia.

A Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two men, one of them being Na‘im as-Saghir, the brother of the Imam of the Buratha Shi‘i mosque, Jalal as-Saghir, were leading gangs of Shi‘ah, most of them former criminals but dressed in the uniform of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir).” The Shi ‘ sectarian gangs were attacking the homes of Sunnis who live in the al-‘Atifiyah district of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported local witnesses as saying that the gangs were abducting the local Sunni residents, stealing their belongings, and robbing their homes. Particularly hard hit by the sectarian gangs has been the area around the az-Zawra’ Sports Club. A large number of Sunni residents of that area have appealed to the Iraqi Resistance for help against the sectarian rampage.

Jurf as-Sakhr.

Resistance bomb kills two Iraqi puppet army officers in Jurf as-Sakhr Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:45pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by Iraqi puppet army troops in the Jurf as-Sakhr area, about 70km south of Baghdad on Saturday morning. The al-Hillah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a doctor in the city hospital, which admitted the casualties from the attack, as saying that one officer with the rank of first lieutenant was dead on arrival and that two wounded soldiers were admitted, one an enlisted man and the other a captain. The captain died of his wounds an hour after being admitted to the hospital, the source told Mafkarat al-Islam.

Al-Mahmudiyah.

Resistance car bomber blasts puppet “Shock Troop” checkpoint in al-Mahmudiyah, killing seven “Shock Troops” and wounding 15.

In a dispatch posted at 1:37pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’ fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a checkpoint manned by puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in the city of al-Mahmudiyah, about 30km south of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam to the south of Baghdad reported Captain ‘Ali Mawhan of the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a Resistance fighter drove a black Caprice that was packed with explosives into the checkpoint, killing seven of the puppet “Shock Troops” and wounding another 15. A doctor in al-Mahmudiyah General Hospital who asked not to be identified told Mafkarat al-Islam that all the dead were members of the puppet “Shock Troops,” refuting claims made by the official puppet regime “al-‘Iraqiyah” TV station that asserted that most of the dead and wounded in the attack had been civilians.

Al-Yusufiyah.

US admits one occupation soldier killed, two others “missing” following Friday Resisatance assault on US checkpoint in al-Yusufiyah.

The US military issued a communiqu on Friday in which it admitted that one of its occupation soldiers had been killed and two more went missing when they came under Resistance attack near a checkpoint in al-Yusufiyah, about 30km southwest of Baghdad. The American statement, as reported by Mafkarat al-Islam, indicated that a unit of “rapid response” troops had rushed to try to aid the Americans whom the Resistance attacked, but arrived too late. In a dispatch posted at 10pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces backed by helicopters and including divers were looking for the two missing soldiers on the land and in the river and canals during the day on Saturday. An American spokesman was reported as saying that they had carried out four raids during the night and into Saturday morning on “likely spots” but had still not found the missing soldiers, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Ad-Diwaniyah.

Two suspected American intelligence agents killed in Resistance bombing in ad-Diwaniyah midday Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 8:40pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the city of ad-Diwaniyah, about 120km southeast of Baghdad, at 1pm local time midday Saturday.

The ad-Diwaniyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a Resistance bomb exploded by the American column as it drove along the public al-Iskan road, some 3km south of the city proper. The blast targeted US four-wheel drive vehicles and armored Humvees, destroying one four-wheel drive vehicle, killing two US personnel and wounding two more of them. The source said that “extremely hysterical” US forces opened fire intensively and indiscriminately and then began to seal off the area immediately after the blast. The Americans arrested a number of al-Iskan neighborhood residents who happened to be near by when the attack occurred. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam noted that four-wheel-drive vehicles are usually used by US military intelligence agents and men from the CIA.
